I liked your idea it is really important to teach the students in their classroom in their studies about bitcoin and its units. If they cannot place it in mathematics then at least in the computer subject it is important to give a place to it.
It's important to teach students about the existence of digital currencies and the technology behind it. Only then students understand where those notations and the units need to be used. Else students will know and learn but won't have knowledge about the applications.

Yeah sure! like governments around the world would allow their demise to be a subject in schools though blockchain could be a good thing to include in books for kids to learn to prepare them when growing up maybe those become coders stop making all these useless coins and actually do something good with this technology.

This is for a personal writing project I'm working on. I imagine that Bitcoin would be good for things like teaching things like math with decimals ("How many Satoshis do you need to get a tenth of a Bitcoin?", stuff like that), budgeting (Spend it on whatever you want, but when it's gone, it's gone), or even a little bit of IT / programming stuff like how cryptography works. What do you guys think of this?
Bitcoin could be used as an application of cryptography to teach how it actually works in real life.Apart from that, bitcoin should be a subject in itself. This will pave a way for understanding basics of crypto-currencies in general.

I don't think that those developers made a useless coin it has something to help the community but it has not been properly implemented or not properly marketized but they know how to make coin and soon when they are professional enough and want to find a solution to a problem at least they know how to start and what they do wrong on their past projects.

As much as I like bitcoin, I really don't see why bitcoin should be added to an already bloated school syllabus (I doubt fiat is even part of syllabus).
There can be mention of it if learning about currency and certainly blockchain tech should be a subject in IT studies but it doesn't or shouldn't be taught in schools as a deliberate subject.

Yes it is possible. Bitcoin can be integrated in math problems. That could be fun, but you should also add a little discussion on bitcoin as cryptocurrency since even if you use it in math problems if they dont know the uses then it will still be useless. But overall its a great idea since children will have a glimpse about bitcoin and will be curious about it.

Bitcoin is related in economics because bitcoin is real life and each of us should know what economic is and how it works. So, if you were about to discuss this to a class relate bitcoin to economic class. Use bitcoin as one of your example but in a simple way especially when you are teaching elementary students, or secondary. Use an example where you can easily relate bitcoin.
It is true, bitcoin is related to economy and it should be taught in the economy at least in collage, bitcoin has been very successful and a very revolutionary idea in the economy and this what has been thought by many experts and introducing students to it could opens up a lot of potential to their future.

Aside from that, they would learn how can they should their money properly. By giving an example like bitcoin, could help them to build up their complexity in terms of money exchange. It will help them to trigger in their mind that even they are young, they can get money from bitcoin. In my point of view, early teaching of money currency would help a child to put in their mind that they must be more productive, competitive and strategic.

Your idea is more match applies on private courses which focuses to learn bitcoin. Classroom is a place to Learn general education and character, to producing a student with high intelligence. But if a student can learn how to get additional money by learning bitcoin outside school hours, they will can complete their own necessity.

I think it would be good to considering teaching it for Economics subject and bitcoin can be an example of how a country's economy is. Its going top be easier for the students to learned trading as well because of it. The universities in our country don't even teach FOREX and so if bitcoin can be taught, they may be able to understand well with economics and trading.

I got some of the students to post stories, homework writing assigments and such on our school's blog (along with their Bitcoin addresses that I had shown them how to get). Then I asked attendees at our local Bitcoin Meetup to visit the blog and donate to the kids. You should have seen their faces when they opened their wallets! That led to me building a site, with a similar goal, but available to any school or student at http://blogsbystudents.com/They can still post their own address on their own articles but this startup is part of a bigger project to derive long-term income from the traffic. Students can use their blog site to sell advertising in the entire network (as a fundraiser). They may make some sales from what comes in via the web, but also from personal contacts and relatives. SO, instead of selling chocolates, or cookies or raffles, a class or a school could sell advertising. They all continue to get paid commissions continuously for each and every ad purchase infinitely.

wouldn't replace currency since not many places accept it at this time. GYFT.com accepts Bitcoin for gift cards to over two hundred companies. Overstock.com Dell Computer Expedia and ... mamy companies are offering Bitcoin backed debit cards because 1) Bitcoin has zero fraud 2) zero chargeback 3) Much lower transaction fees 4) zero default Merchant acceptance is not now or going to be an issue. Bitcoin is money and businesses will accept money (that is what they are in business for, correct).

the goal in class is to teach something. if it is math, then you should teach math. if i count with apples or satoshis is not important, but the focus should be on learning math not on learning bitcoin. Yeah I agree. You are meant to go to school so that you can learn life skills before you get a job and survive for yourself. Children definitely do get taught about currency and maybe when Bitcoin becomes a global currency, children will be taught about it.

If you think bitcoin will be a class room based-learn it will be impossible think. Because, why the students have to learn with bitcoin while dollar is still their current money? If bitcoin is fulfilled USA and deleted dollar from peoples bank account, maybe it's a good thing. By the way cryptography is a subject in many schools now.

Cryptography is definitely being taught in IT courses. Atleast it has been taught in our class before. And bitcoin was not even created back then. So it does not have to be linked with bitcoin to teach cryptography in an IT class. I do not think it is useful for kids to be taught about how many satoshis there is in a bitcoin. It is worthless unless the kid is involve in bitcoin itself. Like it is worthless to study scientific names of chemicals and everything when I just want to be a race car driver or a mechanic.

personally it would't be a good idea although the intention was good to introduce bitcoin in the kids but it will going to confuse the class and will brought up too many questions esplecially if the class you are teaching is not IT related , I belive that every teacher has its own style of teaching but bitcoin is more than basic mathematics , why not just give them examples that appropriate in the topic?

it depends on what age we are talking about, if you are talking about very young children (as you say in teaching math) then no i don't think it is such a good idea to teach them about bitcoin. it is too complicated. but in case of older kids, maybe even in college as a financial major then yeah, and i think it has already happened and they are studying bitcoin and even do thesis on it.

Well you implement Bitcoin in their learning plan then it would give kids or teens have a hard time learning them. Can you imagine solving problems related to Bitcoin. They must know Bitcoin forst and its fiat currency value before they even arrive at a solution. It would give kids a lot of confusion.

I quite agree with you. it would be difficult to be understood by children. they should focus on the core subjects and also they still have the right to play. the children have each daily that we can not interfere.
