The Bitcoin has a lot of brand obstacles to overcome. As well as employment concerns for beginner and technologically retarded (ie seniors). Mobile apps are growing at a fast pace so I'm sure these problems will be resolved quickly. As long as the market holds, we should have to worry about.

But it is definitely faster and safer than PayPal. There is no third party involved in the exchange, so yes I hope BTC will not replace PayPal in the end.

You mean BTC to replace Paypal someday?
I dont think that will happen. BTC will be an e-currency so it will be like Paypal will have to adjust here.
Once everything financially inside the internet is transacting through bitcoin they will lose what they are used for.
They will choose to stop their service or adapt to what will happen and have a bitcoin option in their services.

I think bitcoin will beat paypal .. bitcoin will replace paypal in terms of payment. Many companies use bitcoins to pay for them. While the paypal users are getting reduced. If we see more bitcoin users than on paypal users .. maybe paypal users have switched to use bitcoin

Of course I think bitcoin will beat paypal. Bitcoin will pass paypal and will use bitcoin to replace paypal.
This year or next year when bitcoin grows enough for all these money transfer services to lose many customers, bitcoin will give them more at a lower cost.

Why bitcoin we can't really use a unexpected currency online always i had bought a item using bitcoin worth 0.2 btc yesterday if i had bought today i would have had to pay 0.18 or even low, this can be a advantage for seller sometimes but can cause various troubles also for them.
The best replacement for bitcoin would be Tether it has same features like PayPal but not widely accepted and no security of funds

Bitcoin has double its value this year already, besides those the advantage of bitcoin is the low fees, you wont get your funds frozen just because they wanna more documents or know where the money cames, paypal is being used from some exchange members, but the risk to get frozen is always there, i do hope paypal open the borders to bitcoin, providing and option to exchange fiat to bitcoin, the same way they provide to others currencies already.

Agree. Bitcoin has many advantages, and the low fees is one which may prove to become very attractive to merchants and individuals alike. Since it is decentralized, it gives freedom for anyone to join in and take control of their funds with no external interference from third parties.

Also, with its bank grade security, Bitcoin provides a safe way to store your money for the long term, without ever worrying about someone hacking the entire system and getting away with your funds (limited only by how well you secure access to your Bitcoin).

In the end, Bitcoin will continue to expand in user base, while PayPal may stale if people decide to use the pioneer cryptocurrency more than traditional payment processors. Everything is there for Bitcoin to become stronger and beat PayPal. It just needs mainstream acceptance, and recognition to become a "trusted" means of transacting with others like PayPal does already. Just my thoughts Grin

At this moment PayPal is the most trustful payment processor that exist in the world. PayPal is very good, and it has very dedicated people that maintain it. Bitcoin is new, and for bitcoin there are two wallets that (maybe) are equivalent to PayPal: blockchain and coinbase. For bitcoin to be exchanged in currency USD, EUR, etc, you have to use coinbase (that is for no good in my country) or other payment processors that accept bitcoin (for example Skrill). Here in Europe bitcoin credit cards are at their beginning. So maybe in the next 10 years bitcoin will be better than Paypal, but I doubt this. Until then PayPal remain the best payment processor that we have in the world.

This happened last week and Bitcoin officially beat PayPal but I think Bitcoin and PayPal use a variety of platforms. Bitcoin is cheap in transactions, PayPal protects the user and accepts compensation if the transaction is wrong. Both of these markets have their own strengths.

No doubt this interview has already been posted on this thread, but it is a long thread with an interesting topic. So maybe someone who jumps into this thread part way through can see this:

David Sacks saying that cryptocurrency is what was originally envisioned at PayPal:

Yeah, I read it from the Press Release section so its already official, Bitcoin already surpassed PayPal now. But in terms of customer based, I think Paypal and even Western Union are still ahead of bitcoin. Because it is still not recognized by a lot of online merchants now and payment option. But in terms of money remittances, bitcoin has been at the hot tail on Western Union and has a higher chance to overtook it maybe in about 2-3 years. But Paypal story is different, in order to at least match the current usage, bitcoin should have small transaction fees, with that said, I can't see bitcoin to be used as a universal payment method because of the high fees now.

Just looking at how many transactions are going on every minute tells it all.
It is true that Paypal are connected to different online stores but when it comes to money transfer, surely bitcoin beats them.
If bitcoin goes thru all the ruckus that will happen to it then it can go way above Paypal.

Yeah. Bitcoin may have mamy advantages underlying it, but if it cannot attract a wider audience, then centralized payment processors may take the lead. One problem that Bitcoin has, is community agreement towards helping upgrade its system for handling bigger transaction load.

In this case, Visa is way ahead of Bitcoin since it is capable of handling a large amount of transactions per second. But, once Bitcoin upgrades successfully with the consensus of its community, then it could become a better rival against traditional payment processors like PayPal.

As soon as Bitcoin establishes its branding among many recognized businesses and companies, it will drive its use towards mainstream adoption, and people would prefer to use it more than centralized payment solutions. But, Bitcoin would need to take care of its underlying issues first, if it wants to grow further from now and beyond. Just my opinion Smiley

That is absolutely right. However, in terms of security and if there will be a malfunction the paypal is a head of bitcoin because the paypal when there's a error you can contact them. however, in bitcoin you are responsible for your loss. But in overall I will go to the bitcoin because the bitcoin is not just a storage of money it is also a investment.

Perhaps yes and perhaps not. Yes because the value of Bitcoin has greater value than any fiat money worldwide yet, Bitcoin still has an unstable amount which why some people don't believe in Bitcoin because they don't understand its capacity to transact using a virtual currency(but still have a value which can be convert in fiat money).

Bitcoin is making Visa/Mastercard obsolete so will kill Paypal too.
I don't think so because not all countries making Bitcoin Visa/MasterCard, maybe in your country can kill PayPal but I don't think we can also have here like that. Not all people here are interested in bitcoin, maybe if some companies/mall will open there doors for accepting bitcoin for payment.
Probably not everyone is interested in bitcoin, but, that's because of the lack of knowledge with bitcoin. I'm sure, whoever they are, if they know the potential of bitcoin, they will definitely look for bitcoin for their needs. Well, not everyone likes paypal because of its complicated grip, so i guess, there is a big chance bitcoin will exceed paypal.
Yes, you have a point. They don't really know the potential of bitcoin, or maybe because of the unpredictable value of bitcoin, or maybe another year for upgrading their system is needed to do it here in our country. For me, paypal will still paypall and bitcoin will still remain bitcoin. It is okay now and I don't think we need bitcoin to overcome paypal. I just contented with how bitcoin right now.

Any Paypal user, whether a buyer or a seller, will at some point run into issues with Paypal’s centralized structure.  For instance, Paypal can kiss my ass after they basicall yfroze my account for no reason ( a conversation with a CSR, that I annoyed, prompted a full security review of my account), and all attached cards and banks were banned from future Paypal use.  I had to create an entirely new bank account just to use Paypal due to arbitrary freezing of my first account.  Bitcoin, on the other hand, is decentralized; I rest assured that nobody ( reasonably) has the ability to limit my access to my Bitcoin wallet, or to move funds from my Bitcoin wallet.

I trust my security more than I trust PP's shifting interpretation of its TOS. Paypal, can eat a dick.
