The Nail In The Petrodollar Coffin: Gazprom Begins Accepting Payment For Oil In Ruble, Yuan
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-08-27/gazprom-begins-accepting-payment-oil-ruble-yuan

EUR is rallying, USD is dropping like a stone.

this is definitely not the first time i here the USD is no longer being used by 2 foreign countries for trade

now if we could just increase liquidity in our market a few orders of magnitude we might get a piece of the real action

bullshit

dollar is in fact rising against the euro, gained about 6% the last weeks. euro is nearing a one year-low.

EUR is rallying, USD is dropping like a stone.
I see that 1 EUR was worth ~1.30 USD a year ago, 1.38 USD six months ago, and is back to 1.30 USD now.

What stone is that, pumice?  Cheesy

When one person messes up, it affects a few. When Government messes up, if affects millions.
Yep, appears to be another meaningless truism.. without any real legs but supports an anti-govt thesis.

I'll bite.  How many people were killed by violence in the past 200 years (v_total)?  How many of those were killed by direct acts of a government (v_govt)?
What is the ratio between (v_total - v_govt) / n_humans and v_govt / n_govt ?  If you divide the latter by 2 million, is it smaller than the former?

Off the top of my head, from general knowledge of history, I will estimate 320 million=v_total, 300=million v_govt, the number of  governments at 1000,
and the number of people at 10 billion.  2/1000 violent deaths per human, 300000 violent deaths per government.  The ratio is then 1:150,000,000.

Yeah, Richy_T's comment seems well justified.  I would have to have non-cancelling compounded errors in the region of 2 orders of magnitude for it to be even slightly inaccurate.  It does not appear meaningless.  It appears factual.

I'm not sure how or even if it meaningfully supports an "anti-govt thesis", however.

Throughout millennia, man fought his fellow man.  But in the year of Our Lord two thousand and fourteen, before Ab passed onto Elul, Philosopher King aminorex The Inciteful (or Insightful, the texts are unclear and spelling is hard) hath revealed a great truth onto Man:  All of this time. it was Teh Man who turned brother against brother, made Man spill the blood of Man!
Spoke aminorex thusly:

"Yo!  Only governments can start wars.  So no governments--no wars!   Get rid of Teh Man, and bask in peace everlasting!"

   "Awesome!" the people cheered, "How?"

"Well..." spoke aminorex, "Bitcoin!"

  "Huh"

"Look...  I got a Bitcoin bank in Cyprus.  All I WE need is a few coins, and then more Revolution and PROFIT than you could shake a stick at!  U dig science?  Then lemme drop some on U: (v_total - v_govt) / n_humans and v_govt / n_govt.  Fight The Power!
U in or what?!"

"We totally_dig, under_stand, and we in!!1!  Where 2 send mony4revolution while we get rich?!"

...And there was much rejoicing, hot grils [who were, like, totally watching the whole time] got all in2it and every1 lived happily ever after.

    ~The End~

Always fun catching up on 10-15 pages and reading all those hopeful predictions that come to nought. Cheesy Cheesy

Right now:
"3160 btcs to 520
3160 btcs to 484"

Truly 'glass half empty/full?' time.

you say this, but i bet 5000BTC will be traded at 509-513, b4 it breaks one way or the other.

depth is nearly meaningless

Across all exchanges, maybe.  Its the sort of thing Jorge would count up.  But the real issue is whether those 5000 coins belong to new users or to established traders - I suspect the latter.  Same old faces around the table. Wink

As for meaningless: this year I've lost count of the number of technical indicators that I've been told are meaningless here...it's like numbers are voodoo in BTCland.

Ironic especially in the "Wall Observer Thread".

no just stamps 12hour later we will still be in this price range and like 5000 coins will have been traded.

this thread is old and so are the poeple who choose to type in it, this is another meaningless indicator

Ironic, well yes yes it is.

this is my thread and I like the chaos, madness, and entertainment.

short term price action, its fun to watch and talk about, but like this thread its meaningless

everything is meaningless, everything is AWESOME!!!!

I only said leading the market relative to bitstamp. I'm on record for maintaining that China is a wild card.

How much lower until the panic sellers start? Right now this may very well be complete manipulation downwards, but its working if so.

Not that well, but without resistance. I'd imagine if 505 is hit that high 400s (~485) should come soon after?

The bids on 500 are still holding up very much with this drop, about 9 out of 10 bids being replenished immediately.

Very suspicious.

He's obviously trying to push the price down to buy more. I wish I had several thousand coins to play with like that. It must be fun!
