This looks like a nice trend. Not crazy one which climbs 70$ in 6 hours and collapses.

I was wondering why the page count of this thread is increasing so slowly despite the trolls...

welcome back! what would you like to rant about?

what if I told you that peoples mental and physical health would improve drastically if we got rid of the government? Wink

Hahahaha... it takes me a bit of time to get worked up to a rant or to be inspired to fabricate a wall of text.

I have NOT really been following the bitcoin news in recent months (or maybe more like around 6 weeks) because I got caught up with several other projects, including some traveling.. however, it is starting to feel to me a little bit like a BTC price trend reversal....

I know that I have asserted that there was a BTC price trend reversal on several occasions, since about $600 in May 2014 and all the way down to $170 in more recent times, but you know what, this time the price direction is really beginning to feel like it has some potential to be on its way up.. maybe trickling up.. but still up.... and maybe, just maybe we will get enough momentum coming up through the next several months and maybe we will see the $700s before the end of the summer or at least by the end of 2015?

Also, maybe we need to get through the date of this latest US Marshalls coin auction too.... before BTC prices will really start to trickle up... and the auction results again will likely foreclose whether big players are bullish or just lacking in enthusiasm with their bids.

Many good news and it seems were on our way to the 300s again (finally)

Resistance above 285 but seems to be working pretty good, no bear pressure at all at this levels

Even if there is "many good news," doesn't the price need to hold off a little bit until after the auction.. because before and during the auction there will be potential downward pressures from the bidders who are attempting to keep the price low in order to obtain BTC for as cheaply as they can...

I realize that sometimes, on the other hand, some big players are only capable of so much downward manipulation if they do NOT have some kind of trend or FUD cooperating to help with the downward price direction...

I feel pretty much the same about the price reversal but since I have been absolutely wrong about reversals before I don't trust that feeling very much. Fortunately I don't have to, since I don't trade Smiley

In terms of news there has been a steady trickle of good news the only change is we don't get instant dumpage after the announcement of some good news, now nothing really happens but the price keeps climbing into higher and higher trading ranges. There seems to be genuine buying pressure but it could also be manipulation in order to produce a major short squeeze. Shorts have gone down but there's still a LOT of them. Should be interesting to watch what happens in the next couple of months.

Right now, consolidation period more likely than a substantial continuation of the rally, in my opinion - though I'm not saying we can't make another run for $300.

In that case, I would expect something similar to the period from mid-Feb to beginning of March. This time, if we would be staying above $260-265 on average, while briefs dips don't go much below $250-255 (DSMA20), we could be looking at a continuation of the upwards trend in a week or two from now.

I guess that, right now, I don't see $300 falling and closing above on daily.

Agreed. A sharp rise now wouldn't even have the strength to last for long, I think.
I guess we'll have to wait for 2016 to see an actual rally, though 2015 should be mostly "uptrendish".

If 2015 would turn out to be, roughly, like 2012, the hodlers should be more than grateful imo, even if there's no spectacular rally happening Cheesy

Nice wall at Bitfinex: 278.5000   1,024.73   1,024.73

Started with 1,300 BTC. Looks like it won't be pull back. Let's eat this.

Which would fit well with a market effect of the impending block reward era 3 (which is expected for 2016/2017, but we're going through blocks faster on average than the target, 144 per day target, 154 on all-time average)

Let's hope so!
Still, I think many people (those who got into bitcoin for get-rich-quick reasons) will get tired and leave during 2015.
And then the rally in 2016 should, as always, surprise even the bulls... 5 digits? Smiley

I don't think the get-rich-quick guys have any influence on the market. Hodling 2 or 3 bitcoins in the hope that they will be worth 100K each. They just sit and watch and post pictures of boats.

Its institutions/investor blocks that will gradually carry the price upwards, with steadily improving support levels and softer resistance. Just get the scammers and speculators out!!  Grin

But 5 figures? Not possible as bitcoin is currently used. It will need a major ground shift in the way its used and how consunmers perceive it for that to happen. Its still looking for its 'killer app'.
