It's OK, Q&A

Gavin prefaced the panel during his introduction by saying that he wasn't hacked and that he does believe Craig, and that he would answer questions during the Q&A afterwards. The panel included Vitalik, who sat to his right.

During the Q&A, no one asked Gavin any questions, so Gavin decided to talk about the Craig/Satoshi news himself. He gave his 1-minute reasoning why he is convinced that Craig is Satoshi, because he signed a text that he (Gavin) chose, and verified it himself.

It seemed like the crowd was going to accept that, and the session was going to end, but then Vitalik just started taking, and said he'd give his reasoning on why he thinks Craig isn't Satoshi.

He said, Craig has 2 ways to prove himself. The first, and easiest/simplest, being to just sign a unique message and post it publicly so everyone can verify it. The second would be to post some long blog post (that was arguably more complicated to understand than actually verifying some signed text) and only ask a select few to choose a message, show the signature to, and ask to verify. Vitalik then says that this fails basic signaling theory, and thus Craig is not Satoshi. Gavin twerked his head and nodded as if to say, "I see you point. Meh."

The panel session ended right there. The crowd laughed. I laughed. Vitalik laughed. There moderator laughed. The crowd laughed some more. Gavin seemed uncomfortable.

First of many stories to come before the halving g designed to keep price down.

Serious question: Who are They, why do They want to keep the price down before the halving, and are They gonna keep holding it down after the halving too?

muaahaaa haaa , we are all they...we want all the coins....we will keep it down for as long as it takes....muahaaahaa

So this price manipulation is gonna go on indefinitely? No gazillion-dollar coin in our lifetime? Those bastards! Cry

Re Gavin/Vitalik thing: Vitalik's the guy who dumped his ethers correct?

Since black people in Bitcoin are the equivalent of unicorns, from the choice of username, we can only assume you are Reggie Middleton or Mike Tyson.

They're not Unicorns, that implies that none of them exist.

I personally think they're more like giant squid. They exist, somewhere, and we've seen them before, caught them, but they are a one in a million chance to just see them.

So far, you seem to be on the right side on this particular issue, Jorge.... yet I doubt that you are coming to the overall correct conclusions that over all this latest shenanigans is probably good for Bitcoin to shake out some of the baloney and to show that Wright is a phoney imposer, and Gavin's credibility is considerably diminished for his seeming pure stupidity in attempting to use this situation as potential "big block" or change in bitcoin's governance's springboard.

Regarding those walls, we seem to butting upon a bit of a decent price recovery in the past 30-40 minutes.. maybe we'll be able to get back into the $450s in the next several hours?  Maybe even into the $460s in the coming days, would be better...  Definitely upward price movement potential.

I personally would prefer that we get back into the upper $460s in the very near immediate future so that we can get some action in testing the extent that there may be resistance at that particular level, which will then potentially launch us into the $600s....  Have we had enough of a shake out in the past week for such and to get us passed $475?  Thereafter, is there enough potential fuel (in figuring out the phonies) to keep us going into the $600s.. with the bears potentially running out of ammo and seg wit soon to be deployed and potentially short-term Gavin out of the mix as a trouble maker?

They've kinda gone out of their way to make Bitcoin as legal friendly as possible in London.  Now they've got some more London aristocrats running this.  This tells me if there's any type of manipulation, it's going to be way up as a form of wealth extraction by front running it and then getting all the pensions and everyone else to come in after.  There will be manipulation...by adding a few zeros to the end of the Bitcoin price.

If he publicly and verifiably signs a message from the genesis block, I'll give your newbie butt 1 shiny bitcoin. Quote it.

Craig Wright says he will move a coin from an early block in the next few days. The BBC says "that should convince many of the doubters". I say he should sign a message with both his PGP key and a Satoshi Bitcoin, and move some early coins (to my Bitcoin address). That would convince me.

You can give my senior butt 1 shiny bitcoin if he does it, but I'm too poor to return the favour if he doesn't.

The man who has identified himself as the creator of Bitcoin plans to provide further proof to his claim.

Craig Wright's spokesman told the BBC that he would "move a coin from an early block" belonging to the crypto-currency's inventor "in the coming days".

*snip*

This morning, I have managed to reach Jon Matonis, who is at a cryptocurrency event in Kenya. He remains absolutely convinced by Craig Wright but agrees that the blog hasn't helped his case.

"It needs to be amended because it's not conclusive for the general public. But that does not take away from what I saw in private," he explained.

As far as I can see it, if Dr Wright can move one of Satoshi's bitcoins - as promised - that should convince many of the doubters.

It would constitute proof that he is who he says he is - although one suspects that even then some will never believe his story.
