It is busy here....
The last real 'crypto winter' we had saw WO thread activity drop right down - occasionally to just Chartbuddy posts for hours. I hope we haven't got to go through that valley of despair and tumbleweed again to get to the sunny uplands?
The WO seems as busy as ever which hardly feels like capitulation, but surely the figures say if it's not here, it is close...
I hope so, I am standing with my fiat 12-bore at the edge of the woods to give those dips both barrels as I spot 'em.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Not sure if this was already posted, please don't kill the messenger as i don't agree with lots of these points. However, this shows where institutional investors (aka hedgies) are on this. https://twitter.com/DoveyWan/status/1068573163670261760In short: institutionals are shell-shocked and bewildered. My take home message from this particular tweetstorm: small size institutional money will not participate from now on. TL;DR she predicts that, similarly to how internet happened, blockchain will eat the world, but somehow traditional players (Fidelity, Paypal, etc) would be the winners and we would be the losers. I disagree, obviously. Key takeaway for Institutions, Bitmain, Forkers, etc: Bitcoin cannot be owned. Bitcoin will own you before you own Bitcoin. I'm referring to Bitcoin with a capital B. The protocol and network. Not bitcoin the currency. Of course you own your private keys.

Approached by an investor desperate to liquidate Bitmain shares at $1,5 bln valuation ! Thats almost 90 prc down-round from August ! https://twitter.com/btcking555/status/1070278748606472192BTCKING555 @btcking555 53 seconds ago
With massive losses, Bitmain has no resources to support BCH. Illiquid BCH falls further hitting Bitmain balance sheet. Suppliers cut off credit lines & buyers wary to purchase equipment. IPO Canceled. Only solution - significant down round and VCs take over? Interesting to see! I am sure they survive in the end. In a much reduced capacity for better AND worse. Attack bitcoin... this is what happens. I will relish the coming humiliation of the new crop of attackers.

Just a brief update: First round of beers have gone out. I've intentionally used low-fees. The mempool has risen since I started, this morning, and is in the process of clearing up. With any luck, you folks start seeing at least one confirmation soon.
I sent PoolMinor an extra two beers as thanks for compiling the list.
Apologies for the drama, but JJG made me legitimately see red.
That, and I'm a bit pissed at myself for not trying to resolve the "logistics" of the "beer boast post" sooner. Pure laziness on my part, really, and in retrospect, I have no excuse for not paying out.
In my defense, I recognize that I had difficulty reconciling the logistics of handling losing the call - "I can't really buy drinks for the entire thread. That is not practical. How do I resolve this in a fair way to the community ?"
It took me seeing red before I saw a reasonable solution.
Again, sincere apologies for trying to weasel my way out of it. It genuinely was not my intention, and I hope my resolution was considered fair.
EDIT: Just saw the entire first round of people get their first confirmation, so, cheers to you.
I gave you a merit on this post, even though I also gave you a lot of (likely deserved) shit in the past few days, and perhaps there is a bit of an acceptance of responsibility within this post that reaches some acceptable threshold rather than ongoing attempts to project fault. I actually don’t expect you to discontinue with your whining, attention whoring and other blawb bullshit, but at least this post seems to contain some self-reflection, rather than overboard emotional projection.

IPO Canceled. Only solution - significant down round and VCs take over? Interesting to see! Why on earth did they get seduced by Ver on BCH? Utterly retarded, a real school boy error. What will Bitmain do now going forward, just switch to solely mining bitcoin again & write off their BCH related losses or can they afford to do that? They were greedy, and they were cheating with ASICBoost and backdoored miners. BCH offered them the flippening and a way to keep their crooked status quo. Bitcoin's design has made it a FORMIDABLE karma dealer. The longer it holds up against things like Bitmain, the IMF, the BIS, etc. etc. etc. the closer we get to the world actually beginning to realize what it actually is.

Happy (responsible) drinking! Seems like most in this thread are alcoholics. And mic don't say that you're not, you're drinking every single week and mostly more than one day, that counts as alcoholism Not that there's anything wrong in that

It's just that I never get (nowhere near) drunk and that until some years ago I was a VERY HEAVY DRINKER (whisky coke) so this is nothing in comparison. I quit whisky in december 2013... because of reasons. I also quit smoking (2-3 packs a day). Never did other drugs. I am a health conscious person, you know. Responsible drinking my ass though. And yeah, I fear it could drop lower.... Otherwise I would be buying with both hands.

I'm starting to wonder if JJG is gonna PM me a BTC address for a beer, after all that... Are you talking to me? You come off as such a publicity pussy who largely wants to engage in exaggeration drama? and try to blame me for your phoney baloney. In other words, my name is blawb, and "I need some attention." I do think that your point has some merit to it. But aren't you attention whoring yourself by constantly bringing attention to his attention whoring? Both of which I find understandable in the light of the current market situation. But in either case, this is a forum, on the internet. So who fucking cares either way? I'm enjoying the drama, but don't see why it's still going. During the bull market we were all having good chats. Now everybody is flipping out. I guess the two of you are like me, where given a chance you'll keep shitposting and/or arguing 24/7. I get it, it's fun. But is it for you? If not the two of you might want to clam down. Someone should quantify the WO drama indicator. I still think it would signal a reversal due to peaking salt levels lmao Love you both, no homo. Yes... sometimes certain threads of thought (and topics) drag on a bit longer than others might perceive them to be necessary... yet each member posting in this thread comes to his or her or its own decision regarding whether to respond to certain posts or ideas and how to do it....
