Bitcoin mentioned on criminal minds tonight, that makes 4 TV shows this week talking about it. Maybe we'll see the Friday surge again like the past 2 weeks.

I saw it mentioned on Blacklist and Almost Human.
Besides Criminal Minds, what is the other?

Person of Interest

Well after the Simpsons did it you had to see this coming.

The Good Wife was first, ages ago!

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I saw the first show ages ago when it came out. But then someone told me Bitcoin was the subject of about 3 of the shows. Like the story was in more than one show.

Was that true? Do I need to go back and watch it?

This past Monday night was the 1st time on Blacklist, it was a great scene and a clear plug/advertisement if you want to look at like that. I've heard it 2 times (maybe 3) on Almost Human.

If you haven't already seen it here is a clip on youtube from the first time the mentioned it on Almost Human: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8LqlMzEe-I

Edit: It's an actual currency on that show so I'm sure we will be hearing bitcoin mentioned more often there.  It is also interesting to me, because it is a show set in the future where bitcoin is commonplace.

Bitcoin/USD volatility has been decreasing continuously since it began trading, there is no reason to think this trend is going to change while the rate of adoption remains approximately constant.

The bigger the mass the larger the inertia, simple as that really. It is much easier to get 10,000 people to panic simultaneously than 100,000 ... it is why fiat fractional reserve can work with the popular delusion that your money is safe in the bank, when in fact it doesn't exist in there at all and at best only 10% is ever available for redemption (actually more like 8.7% with the latest Basel rules).

As Bitcoin holders being to number in the millions to tens of millions that "10% panic" number becomes at least a million ... everyone bitching about greedy big btc holders, these are the guys holding steady in face of extreme skepticism/negativism since day zero making this thing work for the ungrateful, skittery, day tarders.

ungrateful, skittery, day tarders.
Ungrateful? What does that even mean in this context?

What kind of market (liquidity) do you see existing without traders? And how do you think this would affect volatility?

Never mind that noise. It's kind of in fashion on this subforum to bash active traders, especially if they *gasp* use TA.

It's the same boat. Both parts (traders or not) are in for the greater profit (either in BTC and/or fiat). No need to be angry if you are into one category or the other... Both have got our positions you (traders) and I (hodler)... Grin

"Days of our Lives" has not mentioned it, yet.

When Stefano steals Will's BTC by having Kristen massage Sonny's "private key", bitcoin will have arrived.

luck fluctuation  - BTC Guild have 3.365 THsh in their pool vs 14.1 Thsh total -> 24%, but have only mined 20% of blocks in the last 24hrs, looks like ghash.io are being lucky.

But by all means panic and sell BTC.

About 5100 Thash, or 36% - so yes they are being lucky at the moment

I would guess it is people switching back from Eligius as Eligius seems to be a little unlucky at the moment, and BTCGuild charges to much in fees
