To counter the FUD, the most important news of the day is actually something unrelated to Gox and Vietnam.

Fortress has bought $20m worth of bitcoins at an average price of ~$900

they bought these today??

No, last year

then it doesnt matter..

Fortress are not idiots. They wouldn't have purchased an asset like this unless they believed they would get at least 5-10x return

yea but right now it looks like their investment got almost divided by 2.. Grin

To users with holdings in gox:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=489949.0  (Voluntary Reorganization Best Option for Us All)

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1yyrvf/open_letter_to_mark_karpeles_voluntary/

I don't understand why so many downvotes. It's like there are a lot of people who just want gox to disappear. Everyone who lost money should just "move on". So what if you lost 100000 dollars ? So what if there's a plan to save all the money AND improve the bitcoin world in the process ?

Karpeles and the other insiders have to be prosecuted! I'm strictly against any solution providing those fraudsters an easy exit.

Of course they will be prosecuted. BUt now is the chance for the first time to build a truly transparent and crowd sourced exchange. 1 million people have the interest in doing so.

Just do it. You don't need Gox or Karpeles for that.

Also an article on Coindesk linked above

am I reading that right ? only $20K invested in Bitcoin, but it is the first step which is positive.... also I wonder what do they think about this investment today if they bought at an average of 900

this will effect the price instantly if they would be buying from exchanges, but most likely they wont, and I still want to know how to purchase 10k bitcoins off exchanges and how they work out the price...

This is what a takeover looks like.

Real money wants in. Thanks, kids, for coming up with this here “Bitcoin” – we get it now. You’ve shown that it’s so robust and useful that even the incompetent and the illegal can take it to $10Bn. Now kindly leave and let us take it from here.

That letter from the Next Money Representative 5 left MK hanging out to dry. He thought they would help, but they just supplied a coup de grace. They want a clear-out and to bring in a legislative framework. They’re building acceptance, so the unacceptable need to go.

Short term, the media and banks will crucify the ecosystem. This will cover the smart money accumulation phase. Some here will hand over their coins in exchange for a car or a house. That’s fine, and it’s a shame others got burned, but there’s a handover going and a little turbulence is to be expected.

We’re heading out of beta.

moving roughly initial 22k coins on exchanges is not such a big deal, ofc it makes impact but nothing drastic if not dumping/buying all at once
