The thread's back!

AAAAnd we still going "uppity", as JJG calls it.

Lovely. See you all in a year or so.

I don't know if I would term this particular situation as uppity.. but we are in an o.k. place in the longer view.

It is just difficult to suggest anyone take major moves - but surely guys think differently about this.

Of course, I have largely been in a buying status all the way down from $2980 - and we know that this has not been a direct journey too.  I have been buying in $50 increments during this time on 5 exchanges, so I likely had nearly 1000 sell orders execute and likely a bit more than 1100 buy orders... .. All those trades add up.  I am looking forward to the day, when I can buy and sell in $100 increments... We gotta get back above $3k first.  SOONtm?

How soon do you think the rode Will get to 3k? Huh

Most would not recognize this technical analysis pattern as they are still using old tools but this is a little known pattern known by all of the experts:

is you Satoshi?

Why are you hiding in these candles?

watcha gonna do bitcoin, u seem lost

I'll fight

Just when I'm going to read the news to read something positive, I find that:

well this guy says it won't be resolved in time for August 1st...or the high probability  of such

bitcoin being bitcoin ....it is likely ...even if consensus is reached say for segwit2 +2mb ..they'd likely not have the

code ready or if rushed...yeah...fork ..then fix action

anyway...see link below....I've never seen Bitcoin follow a path that is easy....so just saying

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bitcoin-miners-miss-first-bip-148-deadline/

hope I am dead wrong...I doubt it however

Miners are not going to meet 95% BIP148 threshold. They are going for BIP91 which has a lower 80% signaling threshold and is compatible with BIP148 and would avoid the UASF.

There's nothing new in that article about the current situation.. and we all know that miners will wait until the last minute to reach the threshold, as they did with Litecoin.

I don't have any (new) reason to think they are not going to do it but, if they don't then UASF will come to rescue. (which I don't like at all, but it would be clear it was miners who forced it with their actions and not anybody else).

I am pro Segwit and also think a 2MB block increase is reasonable if done in a non contentious HF. In the next few days we will see what's miners real position about this.s

We need to bury all those fuckin' forks. Unlike evolving coins with a large degree of centralization where forks can be handled with relative ease, in a decentralized coin like Bitcoin forks are an attack on its long-term viability.

The moment the precedent is set that Bitcoin is forked (with any meaningful support) into two coins or more, at that point Bitcoin is undermined as a store of value - because it can happen again, and again, and again. And that's not even factoring the aspect of who-controls-what after a fork, which seems to be the primary motive of a certain group.

Nobody can fork a gold bar into two gold bars or ten gold bars. That's why it's a store of value. And that's why the process of bifurcation undermines Bitcoin.

I don't know.  The road seems longer when we have such severe downwards correction, and there is a bit of uncertainty whether segwit is going to go through.  I do think that there are pretty decent chances for testing $3k within this calendar year, and possibly breaking through.. especially if seg wit gets locked in... If segwit does not get locked in, then maybe there would be up to a year delay for segwit to get locked in (apparently through the new BIP149 - would be the back up BIP in the event that BIP 91 and BIP148 do not accomplish such segwit locking in.

Well, that looks dire....Sad

My HOPE is that this is just a bunch of FUD being tossed about by miners/whales and others to drive BTC price way down...one last time ...before a version of
seg witness is embraced...thus pumping to 5k at the end of the year...if I was a btc cabal its what I'd do....

IF it is not this..then it is a bunch of hairless pink monkeys ie humans....hooting and making noise...tossing poo about and not really know wtf is going on....(if so any aliens on bitcointalk get me off this damn planet!) Sad

It is either a brilliant evil plan on the part of whales/miners/etc or it is a complete cluster that no one knows what the heck is going on with these upgrades and they are just a
'winging it" as they say

pick your poison

This is pretty savage. This is when people start mentioning bitcoin to me knowing I'm a hodler when nothing was said when it hit 3000.

People love people losing in life in any way possible. Human nature.
