I don't keep my coins on exchanges but does anyone need to remove the coins? I mean isn't BIP148 now not going to happen since segwit will be in place before that date or have I got this all wrong?
(Still a little confused about the whole thing).

It's the only way you will secure getting your new Bitcoin ABC coins.

Yes, whatever that fucking is.... Free money is free money though. No problem with that.

Also, theres a neat Byteball airdrop on August 7. <- Just a reminder, more free money.

So there is going to be a HF for sure on that date? Is that the Jihan fork?
I have my priv keys on a ledger nano S so presume I am ok?

bitserve: actually you scared me into thinking about temporarily withdrawing at least half of the funds from exchange - that would mean buying some coin at current price though, as im in fiat after missing bitcoin rally train.
to withdraw or not to withdraw. that is the question
ugh  Cheesy
If you only have a minimum amount of BTC on exchanges IN RELATION to you total holdings, then it is somewhat ok, especially if you plan to trade the volatility.

FIAT is somewhat safe.... unless mtgoxed/bitfinexed....

Anyway, I don't know... I am just on the verge of settling the remaining of my margin long position at kraken thanks to the profits from the past two weeks. This same night if everything goes as expected. From that point on I will be playing safe, but not sure if I will withdraw the remaining BTC or keep trading.
Ok, Ill think it over, but probably will take a risk. In case of increased volatility, there will be an opportunity to make some profits and/or buy some bitcoins cheaper.
..and I'll have to hope, that finex is not the one short of bitcoins Cheesy

I haven't read up much on Bitcoin ABC. Not sure if any orphaned blocks from Bip91 will show up as valid on that chain, too. Or if it has a flag day of the 1st. If your private keys are in your nano, you'll get everything that is due, eventually. Edit: Just read OP of above link. The flag day is the 1st.

Thanks!

Bleh, that thread is full of shills! Not sure it is a good source of neutral info about it.

Anyways, this is the answer for @bones261 question: https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/6ouzh7/bcc_on_a_ledger_nano/dkkdygj/

I think we will have to wait and see. Not going to lose one more minute on that until I can SEE the money Smiley

So does all of Jihan's/Antpool's hash power go BitcoinCash after Aug 1st?

If the parasites (Jihan, Ver, ViaBTC) all move their hash away from bitcoin... I hate to admit it but that makes BTC less secure overall but it's also nice to get rid of these clowns.

What's stopping Jihan, ViaBTC, and Ver to market dump their thousands of BTC after Aug 1 to plummet the price and freeze sales of BCC to artificially pump the price... making it appear as if BCC is the winning chain.

I'd like to predict ATH by 07/23 if it's still possible

Reason why is because we've had such a strong run from 1800 right up under the ATH without any retraces at all, a small retrace just below it is reasonable(which I also posted when we were at 2925) when we've had such a crazy run. And I expect the strength to continue pretty soon.

23/07 already taken by: Bitcoinaire

If we break ATH on 23rd of july, somebody gonna have to pay me Roll Eyes Grin

Hmmm... I thought it was about predicting when the next ATH and if it will be and stay in place as the "ATH" for at least 2-3 months after it is being broken. Meh... anyway, I still keep my prediction, around that time it will be over 10k and it will stay in place as the "new ATH" for a few months after! Smiley

They will offer an option, most probably. I'm sure Antpool will give generous giveaway offers to anyone who opts to point their hash at Bitcoincash. Hashnest still owes me .39 BTC on my Pacmic contract. They better not try to pay me back in this bologna. Angry

Edit: I just asked on their thread if Bitcoincash will be merge minable. If so, these pools can mine both at the same time... If it is merge minable, it would be quite the scandal if these pools didn't divulge that to their miners and keep the coins on the chain the miner opts out of...

As a bluff it may be ok... really doing it would be completely stupid and would trash all confidence in cryptocurrencies in general.

Jihan's words about this were noncommittal, along the lines of "we will use some of our hash power on our new coin..."

In my case it was the following:

I talked about bitcoin and nobody believed and I started using my bitcoins in real life, I bought a lot of things thanks to the investments I made with bitcoin, it did not take long for people to start asking me, i told them again about bitcoin And they started to know and use bitcoin

People are only interested in something that benefits them
Actually they now believe because of the rapid rising of bitcoins value. But when its about $300 they never believe us that it can potentially go up 10 times.

Well for about 8 or 9 months in 2015 it was mostly below $280 and frequently below $250.

I recall that there was not too much posting about bitcoin in these forums - and even some of the most staunch of bitcoin bulls were questioning their BTC investment and getting out and questioning whether they should buy moar or wait in case there were a further drop.  I recall a lot of people suggesting that I cut my losses.

Almost all of us were in that questioning boat and lacking some confidence, especially when the bear market drags out for so long and there were few optimistic posters in those days... so pleasant surprises came from movements to $300 and elation when we went we had the brief spike to $500 in early November 2015 - even though seemingly short-lived and questioning whether prices would go up to $500 again or just return back down.. very uncertain times, and probably we could not feel too confident about being out of the BTC bear market until about May 2016 when we broke above $500 in spite of the ongoing and persistent bear attempts to keep BTC down..

At that point in about mid-2016, the bearwhales, bankshills and anti-bitcoin folks lost control of their bear market... and the rest is history, so to speak.   Wink Wink Cheesy

My friends and family just roll their eyes and just figure it's an extension of my gambling problem. They are probably right. However, since I made my entry in late 2014/early 2015, this has been more fruitful than my attempts at card counting. (Didn't help that I tried to mask my card counting by accepting all of the free drinks.) They may be coming around though. My partner scolded me for using my btc to purchase a small gold bar the other day.

Hehe, it often happens that new adepts are more zealous than seasoned ones...

I only wish that I had been more zealous when I started dabbling in cryptocurrencies. If I had invested only a fraction of what I was willing to risk at blackjack over the years instead of chump change, I'd be looking at 6 or 7 figures of value rather than a paltry 4 figures. The saying, "rather be safe than sorry" just does not ring true right now for me. I've been safe and now I'm sorry.  Cheesy

You are a skeptic and you are a bit of a bitcoin bear..

What can you do about it?  Maybe go to bitcoin bull training and get rehabilitated from your bear inclinations?  Is it possible?
