General reminder that co2 is not a pollutant, comrade.
Not a pollutant for plants, they love it. However, increasing Co2 does affect mental functions. see graphs: 21% decrease in mental functions upon doubling of Co2 from 400ppm (now) to 800 https://www.advancedsciencenews.com/co2-on-the-brain-and-the-brain-on-co2At some threshold yet to be defined but thought to be around a 1000 ppm, human cognition will begin to be negatively impacted. Latest research indicates we could attain this threshold outdoors in the next century, and the dissipation of CO2 in our atmosphere takes centuries. Regardless on the "politically charged" question of what is causing it (the Co2 increase), if it increases, we will be progressively live in Idiocracy. Sometimes I already feel it in talking to some people (not here). Maybe, this is the Great Filter (a concept explaining the absence of visible super-civilizations a.k.a Fermi Paradox).

no hard choices...to me...means harder choices in the future ...with likely 'less time' and 'resources' to do so...
One hard choice would be for the government to pay off their $21 trillion debt. The future consequences of that will be devastating. Only math deniers don't believe this.

I have said before; the end of debt money will go a long way toward reigning in this 'grow or die' economy.

When you think you are right for 100% about something then your inner feelings about this are in peace and you dont have the needs to argue with opposants.
Arguing is showing you are not 100% sure.
The best you can do is sharing your thoughts for once or not sharing at all, as most ideas arents mathematics results like 1+1=2 .
This thread is 95% Bullshit talks that are out of bitcoin.

Now you just need to explain how a doubling could possibly happen. That's the damn problem with catastrophic predictions, if it is built on one thing that can't happen the whole thing falls apart. From the quoted article: In a reported study, it was found that in a substantial number of poorly ventilated classrooms and workplaces, CO2 levels can average 1000 ppm, a significant proportion of these exceeded 2000 ppm and some even reached 3000 ppm. Some are already affected, most likely. Don't believe this, get a whiff of Co2 from the dry ice. It helps to put things in perspective. for the accelerated annual Co2 increase, check out the graph here: https://e360.yale.edu/digest/co2-levels-continue-to-increase-at-record-rateHowever, even at a steady 2% yearly increase (which is 33% less than in 2015) with no more acceleration, we would reach 800ppm in open air in about 35 years.

It's not just food that matters, humans have a psychological need for space as well. The more people there are, the more we end up like Calhouns rats - dying from a lack of reproduction, even when the numbers start to drop after major dieoffs. The rodents never recovered, who is to say that we will?
I don't disagree. Let's start with the 2-child-max-per-couple rule and enforce that first. Or a prohibition to breed if you have an IQ less than XYZ

A wee update, as of last night's action I have officially turned a 0.1 BTC profit using my cross-crypto J&J incremental strategy.
It is slow, but it works reliably.
Hahahahahaha... I am glad that you can get some kind of bastardized version to work, because the key is to tailor a workable strategy to your own personal views and risks.. while attempting to approach it in a incremental manner.... We may have to add a couple more J's to the name, and perhaps an E or two, too? And, maybe there is no real risk of too many folks following such strategy - it's not like a zero sum game.... we can all win, because each of us will tailor the strategy in a slightly different way.

I could house 50 billion people in one of those big deserts. Not only that, Energy, Water and food Everyone gets a huge 4 bedroom apartment, with centralized farming on the ground and outer levels with solar energy galore, pumping desalinated water from the ocean to feed billions. Ohh and terra form the planet to how we like, with Apartment trees I can replace desert with vegetation

I gave you a link with a graph at https://e360.yale.edu/digest/co2-levels-continue-to-increase-at-record-rateand you talk about public schools? Check it out instead. Plus, get out your android (or, maybe, blackberry) and input 1.02 in x^y function for years needed to double CO2. What would you get? Fucking 35 years. Deal with it, or not, your choice. To me this is about survival of the society, not government involvement and i don't even care what exactly is causing this.

Someday when it comes time to terraform our first planet we can just build lots of cars with no catalytic converters and drive them around on the surface.

Someday when it comes time to terraform our first planet we can just build lots of cars with no catalytic converters and drive them around on the surface. replace cars with volcanoes and arrive at how this planet was terraformed when sun's activity was 30% less than today. http://faculty.wcas.northwestern.edu/~infocom/The%20Website/evolution.htmlHowever, by the end of the next 600mil years CO2 will disappear and plants would die. So, yeah, high Co2 is temporary. In about 1bil years all oceans would evaporate and plate tectonics would stop. In the end of the next 4.8 bil years, the sun would be 67% brighter, and Earth would be torched. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Future_of_Earth

If the solution to global warming was "oh shit, looks like we'll need to shut down governments and implement anarcho-capitalism to save the planet"...then I might be more inclined to believe the scientists that are paid by the government.
When the solution to global warming (science funded by governments) is "we need to give more power to governments" makes a fella go...hmmm....
Clearly, human pollution is causing severe weather, and climate shifts on all the planets in this solar system. It is laughable that some people think its driven by the sun. Moar taxes will fix it all!

When it doesn't directly benefit the government who funds the "scientific" research I will be more open to looking further into it. Until then it's like believing Hitler's scientists when they say that the aryan race is superior. If the scientists at the time were like "it appears that the aryan race is superior but there is no reason to try to eliminate other races and try to prop up the aryan race, if they are so superior that will happen over time naturally with absolutely no intervention by the government" then I might be like...hmm, that science seems like it might be legit. Maybe I'll look into it further and check the numbers. There is no coincidence that the fall of communism coincided with the rise in global warming fears...rats fleeing the sinking ship found a new vessel.
