Sad day…. Lost one of my very best friends today, a dog and it’s unconditional love.

A day where I really learn what pain is.

My condolences, sorry for your loss.

Sad day…. Lost one of my very best friends today, a dog and it’s unconditional love.
A day where I really learn what pain is.

One of our kitties is getting sick, and possible end-of-life scenario.

Have lost nearly 10 fur-children of ours over the years, and it never gets easier. Always hurts just as hard and raw every time.

The feels... My heart goes out to you.

I never had a dog as a child.  Never have a dog until my late 40s.  Now I have one.  The thought of what you are going through is horrible. They really are one of the little bits of evidence to me that there is a God, and he loves us.

Sorry for your loss, dude. Sad

WO is better because it's family.  It has a ridiculous preponderance of weird uncles, but it's still family.

My experience with family is a bit different.

Blood doesn't matter.

I've disinherited family from my estate.

Even family can be absolute garbage human.

Yeah.  I agree.  I think I am using the word in the way that the dude feels about hid dog.  And though the connections here are virtual and very thin for me I find them valuable.  There are many here I would love to have a meal with, you among them (I know, I know lol).  And of course there are some that I wish would go away.  I wish no ill on that ridiculous Nazi that used to taunt us, but I am glad he's gone... And actually... I nearly DO wish ill on him.  A failing in my soul, I guess.

I hear ya bro.

With my SO, we are at a point now where we're about to completely disassociate from her family. Perhaps forever, or at least only see them rarely once every few years.

They are the worst people. A bunch of narcissists that only care about themselves. They never inquire about other people when family gets together, only brag about themselves constantly. They are somewhat educated but are poor, don't have a pot to piss in but act like they aren't poor. They have Mt. Stupid level knowledge on just about every topic, but think they know literally everything and are the experts. They only admire people with credentials and academics, not people who have made it to wealth by any other means. They also have bent views of politics and the world...aka delusional. And they are also a bunch of Communists as well as hypocrites.

We just got back from a family visitation not too long ago, and started to really question whether going out of our way to visit them anymore was good for our mental health and time spent.

If you cannot recall correctly, we were talking long .  Torque was poo-pooing stock-to-flow and suggesting that newbies are too reliant upon S2F being 100% correct.

Sorry, I tend to skim your posts and must have missed the context. It'll probably happen again to be honest.

Ignore Lists are like mute buttons. I prefer to see everything and use my scroll wheel.

I get this point in theory.

In practice, time is opportunity cost. I want to maximize my funtime here, and part of that involves curating my experience, much like I do with muting/blocking accounts on Twitter (where I fucked off to, during my absence here)

There are some people I will never agree with, and don't care to read their opinions/content, because it literally is a waste of my time, and a net-negative in my life, so I prefer to curate my experience to optimize time.

I agree with Bob, I have very few on my ignore list, but the ones I have are just time thieves as I see it.

EDIT: In Lightning node news, just set up another Wumbo channel with LOOP - Gonna crank the fees way high, and see how that performs... That pretty much ties up the rest of the liquidity I have put into the node, unless I load up another coin. Not in a particular hurry at this time.

Someone could think it's "just a dog". Well, think better.
I felt much the same in the past, and I know what it means.
Condolences.

On the basis of time spent, it would seem that would be a waste. However, it is nuanced. Still they are blood, and while it may not matter to some, it does have a non-negligible impact, particularly if it's a closer bond, such as a parent or a child, or even siblings. Beyond that, it's different on how distant it can become.

It still might be worth the once in a while visit, perhaps just to reaffirm why you don't like them so much. Maybe one day they will change, and one can hope.

Skip a year or two, it might put some perspective into it? Maybe? I've friends who I have not seen in 10 years, meet them, then don't see them in another 5, but we're still friends. We just don't do much and have our own lives now.

I've had a few dogs in my life. I've had one that was very naughty but loyal and died when he was 13 years old (so that's very old for a dog), then I've had another one which was supposed to be very brave kind of breed but got spoiled and was afraid of other humans (it was a rottweiler).

And I've had a couple who I carried home with me in a small plastic bag when they were born, raised them, cared for them, until they were about maybe 5 years old, then let them loose in some farm where they can run around. I would visit that farm occasionally and the dog would remember who I am. One day, we just didn't see him anymore and it was ... maybe it was his time.

Well, each person's family situation is a bit different, but generally, if there is a family trait that you would like to be preserved, then you would care, probably.
Somehow, in my extended family there are a lot of engineers and scientists, and I like this quite a bit. Too bad my own kids are not into sciences at all.
I promised myself that if I "make it" in bitcoin, etc, I would help kids in the extended family to get the best education they aim at (in cooperation with their parents, of course).

To your point, they are young enough that I'm hoping another 10 years may turn them around, and I can write them back in, if I'm still alive.

They have to convince me they are worthy of inheriting something, and not become complete garbage humans like their father, for how he treated my sister, and using the children as weapons against her.

That shit has dire consequences to me; that nephews will side with their degenerate father over my sister, but that's more info than I should have revealed...

I mean, speaking to degeneracy, I kinda painted myself into a corner there.
