without walls there is no TA..without TA there are no walls...almost symbiotic one would think

I agree however that automated postings annoy the crap out of me if there are more than one per page...regardless of temporal spacing.

It also annoys me hearing you bitch about this everytime this subject comes up. I think everyone has agreed this thread and the comments in it are what ever the people who use it want. And ran by a velvet handed censor thankfully...again which I highly appreciate.

To me TA is about prices while walls refer to bids and asks. 2 different things.

I have no problem with CB, no matter how many consecutive posts it makes. I also don't bitch about TA. I laugh at it.

What I bitch about is too much altcoin crap here. There's another section dedicated to altcoins including a sub-section for altcoin speculation.

I also appreciate WO's policy of tolerance and lack of censorship, even when the politics gets so heavy I wish they'd move some of it to S&P.

WO rules. Let's keep it the way it is.

And the coloured glasses still have their lenses swapped...

I have no idea what you're talking about Wink

That's the discussion we had last year about the coloured glasses:

I just noticed that those green/red glasses in the ChartBuddy pics have their colors the wrong way around. They don't match the sides of the chart line colors. And if the guy in the avatar wears them, he won't be able to see shit.

Actually, it may not be wrong... I need to read more on Anaglyph 3D. Is ChartBuddy really a 3D image? I don't have (never had) such glasses to try. Can Richy_T clarify?

Dang no, you're correct. And I'm usually so particular about the side. I believe those were once used in the avatar and would have been facing the other way I think so it seems I got lazy.

Chartbuddy is not actual 3D, merely a projection. Though I have created an actual 3D version in the past. The 3D affectation is mainly because the sides are red and green.

You have a good point on the axis though. It seems that liquidity has dropped below the lowest division on the axis so it's no longer represented. I'll have to add some auto-scaling there. The price axis also appears to have become quite stretched out while most of the action is happening in the middle. I'll have to think about that as I wouldn't want to truncate any large price swings. Not too sure about the labeling as it's supposed to be a thumbnail but there's probably room to tweak that a little.

Auto-scaling is what I was thinking too. Also, you could try tilting the depth "plane" so that it is a little closer to horizontal, while increasing the z-axis size. This would make the 3D depth chart a bit "thicker" and emphasize the walls. Just some ideas...

In any case, ChartBuddy is surely a part of WO and I enjoy it as a kind of "WO heart beat" so to speak. Maybe the reason I'm not paying so much attention to the numbers is because I have a Bitstamp window always open next to WO, so my eyes tend to automatically look there for prices.

Sanctions always hurt both sides. Need to be careful not to shoot yourself in the foot. "targeted" SWIFT restrictions sounds like BS talk to appease the masses

Quote from: Germany in the EU
“At the same time, we are working flat out on how to limit the collateral damage of a disconnection from #SWIFT so that it hits the right people. What we need is a targeted and functional restriction of SWIFT."
https://twitter.com/germanyintheeu/status/1497629293937049606?s=20&t=Y6In-oQI9lj9gA1sz5xrKg

Yeah, likely BS. SWIFT disconnection is the financial equivalent of nukes. China will help Rus,

China's support for Putin wavers as state banks limit finance for Russian oil and gas - in case THEY also get hit with sanctions for appearing to back Ukraine invasion.

Quote
China has found itself walking a diplomatic tightrope after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine took many in Beijing by surprise.

It was reported today that several Chinese public banks are limiting financing to purchase raw materials from Russia for fear of Western sanctions should they be seen to be supporting the Kremlin.

About 30 percent of oil and gas produced in Russia now sold to China.

Putin is relying on his ties to China's Xi Jinping to bail him out of the increasingly tough sanctions being put on Moscow by Western nations as the invasion escalates.

Last night, China, India and the UAE abstained from voting on a UN Security Council resolution condemning Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine.

The vote was seen as another sign of the widening of the diplomatic split between the West and the East over Putin's aggression.

However, China's decision not to fully veto the motion - as Russia did - will come as a blow to the Russian dictator, who is growing increasingly isolated.

I wouldnt trust China any further than i could throw it

China confirms it has lifted wheat import restrictions on Russia
..."You don’t go and give a lifeline to Russia in the middle of a period when they are invading another country," Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Friday in a rebuke of China's move. "That is simply unacceptable."

Surprised to see the strength & resilience at the moment to be honest. Price is effectively unmoved despite us being on the verge of WW3. Maybe young bitcoin is maturing, maybe a large % of the weak hands have already mindrusted.

Will be interesting to see where we go next but the bottom could be in?

Well... this has been my thought recently.  But.  I have had a string of wrong theories so far recently, AND this is a time where all kinds of kooky things could happen.

For example... I was expecting the "bad guys" (Russia) to announce they would use Bitcoin to avoid sanctions, and that this would cause a negative sort of reaction in the bit central bank governments, and possibly things would be done that might cause shocks to the price.

BUT instead what has seemed to happen is the "good guys" (Ukraine) have invited funding from the world via Bitcoin.  This is a fairly interesting wrinkle.  As this puts the "righteous" use case in FRONT.  Good press for Bitcoin.  So now if the nation states that are likely to knee jerk to Russia using it would also be damaging Ukraine's situation.

But that really is Bitcoin doing Bitcoin things isn't it?

I have been telling my meatspace friends that Bitcoin is poised to go one way or the other fairly dramatically, but that I am not ready to bet on which way (though my long range bet never changes).

Nobody here 'really' knows what is the situation in Ukraine, probably.
I watched sky news, looked at the websites and all I can find, basically, is that "the fight continues".
Of course, it is all quite terrible.

Here is an interesting perspective of where this is probably going, but with HUGE caveats:

https://www.newsweek.com/2022/03/11/putin-has-never-lost-war-here-how-hell-win-ukraine-1682878.html

The longer it continues, the higher is the probability that it won't stop there.
Are we in 1938? A am not sure.

Not only the the fact this is a fucking travesty but the bigger picture that this could blow up out of control seems to be what people are missing.

I can only imagine what the now long gone (thankfully) realroach would opine about this travesty.
Its the kind of thing he would have reveled in.
He'd somehow find a way to blame it all on the Jews, no doubt.

Apologies for mentioning the bastard. Just thinking out loud.

O I'm sure he would have something to say about this. LOL

But would he be calling the actual fascist a fascist or the jew the fascist?

I have been busy on bitcoiner stuff lately…

Nice but... uhm... doesn't it kinda defeat the whole exercise if you post it publicly?

Naaa WO is a family, and you can trust family.
/joke

Of course this is a test.
That is a valid key, but I am not going to load any sats in it.
I am going to write a post about the whole thing, looking for advices on how to prevent tamper of the seeds once you get it stamped.

Once you have your system in place.. how long does it take you to stamp 24 washers?  one hour?  two hours?  a little longer for set up and tear down?

Regarding tampering?  I understand your point that even if you secure that metal, you have to be careful regarding the keys not being found.  It seems to me that there is some kind of validity in splitting the keys into three parts, and there would be a need to have all three parts in order to be able to use the keys.... I know people do not like that.... but having them all in one place seems to make you too vulnerable.....   Of course, for yourself, it seems that you would need a way to know which three parts go together, especially if you have several different ones that you have made....

I know that there are some other possibilities with multi-sig too.. and surely I remain somewhat afraid and concerned about overly complicating matters and end up locking myself out of my own coins.. but at the same time, I would fear having all of those keywords in one spot... even if it happens to be buried in the back yard in a spot that ONLY you know about.. or in a secret room in the basement of your house.. or some other crazy place that you need to also communicate to next of kin too, no? unless you are just taking that wallet contents to the grave.. which does not seem to be a great estate planning approach, even though it seems quite a few bitcoiners have backed themselves into such an approach.. which will likely continue for quite some time in the future.. because it is not easy to find people to trust and then also that they might not screw things up, too.. or have some of their own issues (how many people to trust, as well?  do those people have loose lips or a temper, even though otherwise lovey dovey when sober?)

You..of all people shout be able to relate to pleonasm...one would think.    Cheesy

I tend to read more than listen to information. Of course there is plenty of readening and listenings and watchenings that all happen at the same once for sure. But listening for hours on end taxes my attention span..not to mention butting up against time the might be better spent in other activities.

I think I have Saylors narrative down pretty good at this point..we all do. Still like the man.

I had to look up "pleonasm."

There are some kinds of activities in which wearing headphones might not be a bad idea if you are open to getting information in that way...

I can usually tolerate close to 2x speeds depending on the complexity of the topic and how much I am able to pay attention.. if I am taking a shower and listening, or washing dishes, or going for a walk/run/lifting weights, or if I am doing yard work, or making some kind of repair/maintenance or communing or on a road trip...

Some kinds of tasks do not facilitate listening to a podcast... or the presence of other people in the vicinity might also inhibit the listening feasibilities so there is that...

By the way, I do believe that I have heard a lot of Saylor's talking points, but he is hardly a drone and even he does change some of his talking points.. and since he tends to say a lot of interesting things and he has a lot of great ways of saying things, I have difficulties criticizing him for repetition.

Actually, I have also found that sometimes when I listen to someone who is either way smarter than me, or who has a different background or way of expressing matters, in the beginning, I will find that I am having trouble to understand all of the points that are being made, yet sometimes I will still find areas in which I disagree - and it seems to me that my level and abilities to disagree are even better if I have heard some of the points as repetition.. so sometimes my disagreements end up to be conditional too.. There are a few areas in which I have learned to disagree with Saylor - even though I consider him to be one of the best current narrators that we have but his great amount of publicity and openness does cause more abilities to criticize some of his angles.,. even though they tend to be conditional criticisms rather than absolute.

Yeah, likely BS. SWIFT disconnection is the financial equivalent of nukes. China will help Rus, of course, although they will do so half-heartedly, and only so they can test their new digital renminbi thingy and/or gauge how much such disconnection impacts the disconnected. They could be next, if the shit hits Taiwan's fan.

Freezing Putin's or Lavrov's assets abroad? That's a joke. Might as well try to freeze his noncustodial btc wallet (which I'm sure is quite fat, incidentally).

If they really cut off Russia from SWIFT, it will be the largest testbed for btc to date. And yes, there will be the "bad btc, helps criminals" angle. But the people will see and understand. In Russia, in Canada, everywhere.

Interesting times indeed.

My theory on this is that the market is pricing in that the FED will not be so hawkish in their predicted rate rises now that war has/is breaking out.
So “risk on” assets are being piled back in to.
Unfortunately Bitcoin is seen as a risk on asset to most large investors at the moment.
Maybe this will change in the future but who knows?
