Where are they getting 30,000 from? They bid 46,000BTC for an average price of $416..

This is also incorrect, coindesk reporter added their estimation of current bitcoin value and made it sound as Barry's estimation of SM bid.

Afaik, the only source for winning bids are rumors.

I'm hoping for slow and steady.  Fast enough to keep the alt market in terror of missing the run, but slow enough so that I get a couple of contract payments in the meantime.  I'll stay levered 1.1x with 45% of BTC and gradually raise XMR to fill the rest of my crypto allotment while the alt markets are in terror.

The USD smackdown is killing me though.  SPX keeps pumping on cheap dollars, which is bleeding me badly.

I got a bit worn out "fighting the good fight" for XMR, well, technically: against BCN in the coinmarketcap thread, where the discussion is about whether BCN should get the double-* of premine shame. Who would have thought that a 80% premine isn't actually a premine.

I'm calling this a short-term bulltrap.  Back down to the 630s in hours, then onward to the multiday bull trend.

Regardless this rally is impressive!

the wall at 4.000 CNY
Oh. Interpreted that as a 4,000BTC WALL, not a wall at 4,000CNY Tongue

Not bad at all, congrats!
Any more predictions to make you right in the future? Smiley

I'm less inclined to make an unconditional statement this time because we are _right_ around a major point of resistance, and the next days will probably decide whether we break it for good this time, or play hide and seek with it some longer.

That said, I see a good chance (say, 40%, maybe more) that we will be beyond the previous peak of $683 by July 20, which would almost certainly mean we're past $700 by July 20 by simple momentum, which very likely also means we'll get near or touch $800 by July 20, again by simple momentum once a major line of resistance is broken.

Sorry if that's not such an exciting prediction.

Dude ... where are the CHOO CHOO's and to Da MoOn's

I predict we will never see sub-$600 again.

I'm not sure there's been a recent case where 'we will never see' didn't end up going up in smoke within 48hrs. One day it'll be true though.

Bitcoin will never rise again.

Quoted.

Thats a STRONG prediction.

I hope you aren't all out of the market. When people start predicting this kind of thing, the price tends to go nuts.

Where did igorr go anyway?

I'm calling this a short-term bulltrap.  Back down to the 630s in hours, then onward to the multiday bull trend.

Come on - what kind of a bull trap it would be if the price would fall $10-$15 and then continue raising? It would be rather a bear trap, for those who would be tempted to short.

Agreed, a real bull trap would be a retest of $600.  Throw in some major FUD and we're there.

Again, where is 30,000 coming from? They had 48,013 BTC of bids..

So, they had 16 bids.. (48,000 for 30,000 bitcoin)

I guess what matters here is wether or not the 20M includes the obvious 18,000 that didnt win (0% chance for them to win, before results were out). I dont see why it WOULDNT include that.

So, $20,000,000/48,000 = $416.67
The syndicate got 186 small bids totalling 48,000 BTC.  As you say, it would be silly to submit all of them to the USMS, so SecondMarket must have picked the ones with largest bid price, totalling the 29'600 BTC, and assembled from them a set of bids for the 9+1 lots on auction.

Is the 20 M$ figure real information?  From the comments following Alan Silbert's tweet, I understood that it was only his estimate, or at least he did not clearly admit that it was real.  Have there been any explicit leaks or claims by any bidders about the bid prices?
