alcohol addiction are linked to severe negative effects on both physical and mental health

Yes. That is why we need to differentiate between alcohol consumption from alcohol addiction. First of all, we need to concentrate on the most vulnerable groups, such as the teenagers from broken families. Those who start consuming alcohol at a very early age are likely to become addicted to it once they grow up. Awareness campaigns and rehabilitation can prevent this.

Good point. Most people who drink excessively are those in the younger generations having issues with family or social life. It's the responsibilty of parents to address this by talking and building a healthy relationship with their kids. It can be avoided if parents are sensitive about their children

Hi guys. Just wanted to know whether drinking is good or bad for our health...first of all i drink every weekend because i feel refreshed after a heavy week of work..  After i drink i take a lot of food and have a nice sleep....I do not have any kind of headache or anything after drinking but will it affect me in the future.... My dad almost drinks everyday right from his childhood may b at the age of 18 but my dad is healthy and strong even after drinking so many years... Thanks to god for that....... Any way,  When it comes to your health, is it better to drink or not to drink?
Drinking is good when it is not daily and your not drinking a lot but you drink everyday and drink a lot it is bad to our health. I remember my old nieghbor the impact of drinking for him is shaking. All of his body shaked and cause of his death.

Prolonged heavy drinking has really egregious effects on a person's mental capacities. If you've ever seen a video on the brain after decades of drinking, you should check it out. Definitely a lot of cognitive and bodily health issues related to drinking.

Also, to be honest, alcohol is frequently at the heart of so much violence, family breakups, and escapism that I can't bring myself to drink.

The problem with alcohol is not alcohol itself but they way people use it, if you drink a few beers when you watch football with your friends then any bad effect of alcohol is going to be very mild, but the problem is that people drink until they are wasted, some try to drive or perform other dangerous activities while drunk, that is the real problem.

Couldn't agree more with what some people are saying here. Alcohol impacts not only the individual drinking but all those around them. Alcohol addiction is similar to cigarette addiction in that they are both easily accessible for purchase, and both can cause harm to those around them indirectly (second-hand smoke in cigarettes case).

Occasionally its ok but if you drink heavily its not good at all because you will get drunk.  Too much its not ok.  You may have loss your memory and cause your brain to be damaged. Because you will be out of your mind already you might do something that you don't usually do.  It will change your emotions and easily to get angry.  That's why many people have lots of trouble if they are very drunk.

Alcohol addiction can impact the family members and friends of the addict. But on the other hand, cigarette smoking can cause damage to anyone who is sitting in the vicinity of the smoker. In that regard, cigarettes are much more dangerous when compared to alcohol. I know people who died from lung cancer, of no fault of their own.

Cancer

The habit of consuming alcoholic beverages, resulting in a high risk of cancer, this risk occurs because the body converts alcohol into aseltidihida, a strong carcinogenic agent. The types of cancers that result from consuming alcohol are usually:

oral cancer
pharyngeal cancer (esophagus)
laryngeal cancer (vocal cords)
esophageal cancer (throat)
heart cancer
breast cancer
colon cancer.

Well, you know what they say, “Everythinng that is too much is bad.” Drinking alchohol is not bad as long as you drink moderately. Actually, it is quite good for the heart if I’m not mistaken. Particularly, wine.
