FYI where the chips could be. No proof at all but sounds like a reasonable story.
If its true, our chips will take a lot more time to arrive than thought.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=264098.msg2881320#msg2881320

BS  Angry

IF.. if it's true; then Yifu Trollol should have amended his "NO BS" policy on the chip order page to include the extra time it would take to get chips made. Unless you believe someone talented enough to design an ASIC chip for SHA-256 and wanting to produce his own brand tablet can't compute "X" number of chips ordered * TSMC production = "Y" time for delivery.
YiFu is a PR guy - he doesn't know shit about designing chips ...

Well, true; zhang seems to be the chip designer. But YiFu has the mental capabilities to understand his decisions.

What parts are holding back the shipping time for the batch 1 boards?
The rumours of an impending a 2.1 million chip deployment make me wonder if I’ll even make ROI with my batch 1 boards.  Roll Eyes

Burnins been great and completely professional throughout the entire design phase. He doesn't control shipment or production of Avalon chips. I paid for 35 of Burnins 20 chip boards and that's a risk I took to make some money. I'm completely happy with the way Burnins gone through this entire process. On the other hand I'm pretty pissed about the Avalon chips not shipping like they were suppose too. Hopefully my bitfury order goes smoother with them honoring their deadlines.

Why do you guys not consider to take legal action against BitSyncom/Yifu/Avalon? Is it so absurd? In the German thread of sebastianJu's groupbuy there's just a discussion on this topic. We must react against these people, that think they can do what they want while their pockets are full with our money.

Has anyone considered actually contacting the foundry where these chips are being made? Maybe TSMC has people that can possibly have more answers. Avalon is definitely pulling a BFL and costing the lot of us a lot of money for each day our chips are late while the difficulty continues to climb 25% every month.

TSMC was contacted by some members of the forum, their contact person said they never heard of BitSyn.com or Avalon. It is expected answer, Avalon is TSMC's customer and their job is to protect their customers.

I tried to see if there was anyone at TSMC that could at least confirm a completed order. (Yes I embellished, but as a whole the community did make a substantial investment, so representing it, I am not far off.)

I am not aware of bitsyn as a customer of tsmc. It may be one of the many start ups that tsmc' design alliance is helping to design into our processes. If this company were a customer it should have a tsmc sales person designated to serve it.

-----------------------------------------------------

Elizabeth,

I received your email from your company's website. I have perhaps an unusual question. I am invested with a customer of yours, Yifu Guo, CTO http://bitsyn.com 1-(347)-370-9069. I and many others have been unable to contact him regarding our investment with his SC chips that were manufactured by your company.

I don't want any sensitive info, which I know you or anyone at TSMC could not provide, however I would like to ask if the order placed, has been completed. This will allow me to know that the product is in his possession and I should possibly consult legal action to find out more.

Thank you for your time, I do not wish to inconvenience you, but I am running out of options to get information on a substantial investment.

Batch 1 was held back by a missing component but is now complete and i will start shipping tomorow.

Now to the whole Refund issue:
My official Refund policy as stated by the TOS on my website is:

Products that are individually manufactured for you like the BitBurners, can't be canceled or refunded after the order was paid.

Explanation:
I have to order a lot of material far in advance and most of it CANNOT BE RETURNED OR REFUNDED in case its not needed.
Once an Order is paid i immediately make sure the materials needed for it are in stock or buy them if not.
By placing your order and paying it you made me buy material thus you are responsible for the financial loss that happens if you cancel that order.

That being said, i am a nice and fair guy, i do refunds, within my financial bounds.
A refund means a canceled order.

Asic chip delivery issues:
I don't have more information then you guys, probably less because i don't have the time to read all threads in here.
Maybe the high demand exceeded the production capability of TSMC in that particular process node/foundry and that is causing the long backlog.
That would by my guess.

Update again.
I've added to the cgminer API the ability to change the Core Volts and Frequency whenever you like
So basically java API "ascset|0,mv,1280" will set the first ASIC to 1280mV
and java API "ascset|0,freq,400" will set the frequency to 400Mhz and adjust the timeout to the required value
(for 400 it is 31)

So basically the same as when you start cgminer, but you can now change it on the fly.
Default limits are 1000-1310 - I've no idea if 1310 will kill it - but if you feel the urge to go higher than 1310 you'll have to edit the constant and recompile
Frequency limit is the same as before 256-450

I've run an almost 13hr run at 400Mhz and got:
Code:
 cgminer version ****** - Started: [2013-08-08 02:25:35]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 (5s):7.590G (avg):7.774Gh/s | A:81228  R:409  HW:1183  WU:110.1/m
 ST: 2  SS: 25  NB: 101  LW: 95546  GF: 1  RF: 0
Connected to au.ozco.in diff 8 with stratum as user ***
 Block: 0048594bd9a0cb3e...  Diff:37.4M  Started: [14:58:34]  Best share: 42.8K
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 [P]ool management [S]ettings [D]isplay options [Q]uit
 BTB 0: 46/ 46C 1221mV | 7.558G/7.774Gh/s | A:81228 R:408 HW:1183 WU:110.1/m
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 [2013-08-08 15:05:16] Accepted 051dac50 Diff 50/8 BTB 0 pool 0
So, much closer to the maximum 8GH/s at 400Mhz with the latest firmware
WU:110.1 = 7.88GH/s
Error rate is 1.4%

I did try 450MHz for a short while before I started this long run and got about 50% errors.
Also I set the voltage to 1280 and it didn't blow up but I changed it back straight away Smiley

The temp of 46C+ seems to be the relevant number determining the error rate
I'll do some voltage/MHz adjustments later to see if I can speed things up (without destroying it or getting too many errors)

Yifu (BitSyncom) has responded.

the "i'm not dead thread."

Just got off the plane, expect lots of news tomorrow.

We should soon know what's happening with the chips.

Anyone sued BFL!?
So far I am against suing Avalon, not much changed in market if we think about other competitors, and don't forget that doing business is always a risk so man up and take some responsibility.
Did I mention that Avalon delivered more than BFL did which is laying to their customers for more than a year?
And for those interested I am waiting for Avalon chips and this delayed chips delivery doesn't make me happy at all.

Man up? Should we man up for being past 5 weeks delay? who's side are you on? the side that are possibly not seeing any ROI, or the side that has our money for months, and millions of that?

The BFL comparison is apples to oranges.

People are attacking BFL but not in the form of lawsuits, in the form of reporting them to the authorities and merchants for criminal activity.
(and if you're holding out for BFL to deliver your unit ,you're as bad as BFL themselves)

Far more serious than avalon with whom we only accuse of breaching their contract and want our chips delivered or fair compensation for failure to do so. In which case a lawsuit is quite appropriate.

Simple lesson from this. Avalon is on the do not buy from list in future. Avoid them and work with products that are not ordered 9 to 10 weeks out. Time for the community to work together and close down these types of companies simply by buying in future. BFL, Avalon and others who play the same game of ignoring customers and missing delivery dates.
