Simple lesson from this. Avalon is on the do not buy from list in future. Avoid them and work with products that are not ordered 9 to 10 weeks out. Time for the community to work together and close down these types of companies simply by buying in future. BFL, Avalon and others who play the same game of ignoring customers and missing delivery dates.
So whats is on the buylist then ? Think it looks like this

Bitfury. Working hardware; July chips shipped on time (as far as we can tell); Re-sellers look set to meet their August delivery estimates. They're not paying me to advertise btw Wink, things are just looking good for them at the moment. Some of the other newcomers may end up working out too, who knows.

Bicknellski's right though, the community does have some power to change the way these things work out in the future. Vote with your BTC by spending them wisely (Avalon chips did look OK at the time though didn't they?)

Bitcoin can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.

It's quite simple.  You get folk to put up the money for ASIC development.  You keep some mining rigs/chips for yourself, and some for your customers.  You hash like crazy for a while delaying shipments of your customers devices/chips.  When the difficulty gets too high, you offload the customers kit, and start all over again with the next generation ASIC.

Even if the company did not deliberately set out to rip their customers off, the temptation to delay shipments while you hash is too irresistible.

Why do you guys not consider to take legal action against BitSyncom/Yifu/Avalon? Is it so absurd? In the German thread of sebastianJu's groupbuy there's just a discussion on this topic. We must react against these people, that think they can do what they want while their pockets are full with our money.

good idea! its an american company, class action lawsuit.

Anyone sued BFL!?
So far I am against suing Avalon, not much changed in market if we think about other competitors, and don't forget that doing business is always a risk so man up and take some responsibility.
Did I mention that Avalon delivered more than BFL did which is laying to their customers for more than a year?
And for those interested I am waiting for Avalon chips and this delayed chips delivery doesn't make me happy at all.

Man up? Should we man up for being past 5 weeks delay? who's side are you on? the side that are possibly not seeing any ROI, or the side that has our money for months, and millions of that?

I am on my side and beside that have allot of understanding to what might have happened. No you are right, let us sue them for everything bad they did.
Once I was thinking to sue my mother for making my eyes blue, and I always wanted the green ones.

For those suing or thinking about it, honestly I don't care if you do or if you don't, I was just stating my opinion.

The BFL comparison is apples to oranges.

People are attacking BFL but not in the form of lawsuits, in the form of reporting them to the authorities and merchants for criminal activity.
(and if you're holding out for BFL to deliver your unit ,you're as bad as BFL themselves)

Far more serious than avalon with whom we only accuse of breaching their contract and want our chips delivered or fair compensation for failure to do so. In which case a lawsuit is quite appropriate.

That is kinda funny. So you agree suing company that gave you a chance to earn money while many of us already did? Maybe you take any business for granted and believe you should profit from it for sure?
Don't get me wrong, Avalon broke their own terms of sales, and I am not at all happy or pleased abut it. But happy trigger suing mentality without any gratitude is what I don't understand.
Imagine Yifu and company decided never to help this community and make ASIC. Where it would left us? Yes, you are right, with BFL.
Yifu and the rest of the team had and I am sure still have best intentions, but most if not all of us (me included) can't understand what is happening for a reason we don't have all the info Yifu has.
He appeared in this forum today and promised to give news tomorrow. Chill and let us see what man have to say.

And yes, that empty list of suppliers sounds great! Roll Eyes

GPU mining is good as dead right now, which leaves only ASIC, which leaves only those willing to invest much and more, which leaves not so many persons involved (in comparison to before), which leaves a threat for BTC. Anyone think that ASIC have the power to ruin mining? Methinks it can, and also methinks that is the main reason for delay which I don't approve, but would understand if that is such a case. Of course I am only speculating and truth is nowhere near what I tried to guess.

@Kano... cant you set the 1310mv as a var in cgminer so that no recompile has to be done if someone wants to go higher? I wanted to try checking how high i can go with one board, but 1300mv already is a value i know that works. Having to recompile would need i would have to search and get the coding software, learn how to compile, most probably error-solving and so on... i would prefer a simpler solution.

Regarding sueing BitSyncom... i dont think its a good idea. It would be simply useless. When the judge made his decision all is lost already anyway because of the time. So i think a letter form a lawyer might move something but sueing would probably do more harm than good.

That said... yifu announced some news and some members in our groupbuy ask befriended lawyers about the situation.

I believe it could be hard to do legal actions since im not sure one could create something out of "9-10 week lead time". One could say thats a guess only and not a hard timeframe. Anyway... sueing would be useless probably. Of course, if all is lost i would try it to regain the investment. But till now i hope he delivers. And maybe gives something for the time loss...

Ehm.. Hard? They can just return the BTC to the groupbuyers (and then in turn, we get the money back minus the 10% the arrangers (as yourself) charge). From what i hear most of these batches has not been cashed in by them anyway and just sitting in their wallets?

They write so much that they hate to do B2C because of screaming private persons.. Then, if they move to B2B, they should be able to handle that move and deliver on TIME 9-10wks..
Best they can do, return all group buys past 4 weeks delivery time. Announce a NEW in price stock at 30% of previous price.

Lets see what they announce tomorrow. I doubt it will be even close to my suggestion.

Ok, that should happen at some point. But im not sure that a court would rule this way only on a "9-10 lead time" that is some weeks ago now. But thats something a lawyer had to check of course.

I hope Yifu tells us in the next hours some extraordinary things... his reputation already got a big hit...

Hi Burnin

Will you supply shipping tracking details for the units from Zefir's batch 1?

When you expect to be putting them into the post?

Thanks!

Everybody is eager to hear Yifu's news but let's not hijack Burnin's thread completely.
There are several other threads specifically for that speculation, pls post there so that Burnin's updates don't get hidden in FUD  Wink
