Hello,
I got a question regarding Bitcoin Core client. I would like to run full node, but I don't have disk space to hold whole blockchain. Right now my Bitcoin Core client is synchronizing, I enabled prune to 5120 MB. Will I be able to be full p2pool node with pruned client? Will I have incoming connections from other clients (I've opened port)? Will my node serve other nodes by providing them data of last 5GB of blocks data?
Thanks.

Thanks, I know about -datadir option already, I am always using it manually when running mode. And running node from external HDD is not an option.
Anyone knows about pruning does it affect node, can I run pruned node with p2pool and mining on it? Thanks.

You can run with a pruned blockchain https://github.com/p2pool/p2pool/issues/339
Do not pruned the blockchain less than 2 gigabytes.

Will p2pool support 8mb block size? (re: bitcoincash) when its forked on Aug 1st?

Is segwit and merge mining alt-coins working on any of the forks? (jtoomin or other?)

Trying to be prepared for the fun in less than a week. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Correct, jtoomimnet finally found a block. It's been 2 months 2 days since the last one.

SixOfFive: I would like to have p2pool support both branches of the hard fork, but making p2pool fork-aware will take a bit of work. I've been really busy recently with an 8 MW datacenter project we are now starting, so I haven't had as much time to dedicate to p2pool as I'd like, but I'll try to get it working eventually. It probably will not be ready for the launch date, though.

SegWit support is in beta on both mainnet and jtoomimnet. I need to finish some testing on the new code ASAP. I should probably just push it to my github so that others can help test it. I'll try to at least do that much today.

You can use a docker container of p2pool.

As a new miner in this pool how do I know which fork I am in?
Second:
what does this mean? Twisted doesn't have abortConnection! Upgrade to a newer version of Twisted to avoid memory leaks!

Third:
What is this all about?

As a new miner in this pool how do I know which fork I am in?

If you cloned P2Pool from https://github.com/p2pool/p2pool, then you are on the main P2Pool branch.

If you cloned P2Pool from https://github.com/jtoomim/p2pool/tree/1mb_hardforked, https://github.com/jtoomim/p2pool/tree/lowmem, or https://github.com/jtoomim/p2pool/tree/1mb_segwit, then you are on jtoomim's fork.

Also, the protocol version number on the main P2Pool branch is 16, while the protocol version number on jtoomim's fork is 32. You may find this by clicking on any share under the "My Shares" section of your P2Pool node's web frontend.

What is this all about?

For people like me who are beginning with p2pool:

When p2pool is started for the first time, it might look like it is not doing anything. Go to data/bitcoin folder inside the p2pool directory. There are shareX files. If the sizes of all of those files do not change, then p2pool is stuck. Otherwise, it is downloading shares from its peers. Be patient, once the download is complete, mining can continue.

It was very confusing for me at the beginning and I was not able to find any means to check whether shares are being downloaded or p2pool is stuck.. Noone mentioned anything about the shareX files in the forum as well.
