I didn't know he received shirt number 7 till I just read your post. Only the club's brightest players are given the number 7, and the majority of them go on to become club legends. Ever since Eric Cantona made the number 7 an iconic number, eyes have been fixed on it. David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo also accomplished legendary feats while wearing the number 7. It is not a good idea to bring in a new player and put too much pressure on him to replicate icons because this could make the player perform poorly under pressure. Before giving him the number 7, they could have waited at least a season, when he would have been more comfortable.

Mount himself didn't seem to hide the fact that he wanted to leave because of Chelsea's failure this season. He's a good player, but it's hard to see that in Chelsea.
