Didn't that one cell in Paris use Bitcoin or something, and weren't they somehow related to ISIS in some manner? So I guess the answer would be that, yes, they do happen to use Bitcoin, but probably not in all that effective of a manner.
I would doubt that they have more than a million or so in Bitcoin moving throughout their "economy" at any given time and there is a larger chance that just individual cells use it for what they do, not the entire org.

Or do they use money at all? If so, then it's probably located elsewhere where people wouldn't suspect that tons of money are hidden there. One thing that's most important to them are weapons and killing people. It's either someone is supplying them weapons directly or they have their own factory where workers make their weapons. For the latter, then surely they are using money because they would have to buy the resources needed. If it's the latter, then they are probably just getting paid directly to their families at home because what are they even going to do with their money, they are so busy killing people.

So, is the money bitcoin? I doubt it. A huge amount of money will be paid to those that dare to risk their lives. All ISIS members have the assurance that they are going to die one day by all the terrorist attacks that they are doing. There's a lot of ISIS members, so probably BTC would have to pump harder than this if they are actually using bitcoins for accepting payments for doing terrorist attacks.

What am sure of is that they are using money in many forms be the local currency they are based at or maybe US dollars for international transactions and maybe even Bitcoin. Exactly! ransom and oil for example are worth millions per transaction (daily oil output from ISIS is millions). Using Bitcoin, this means a few thousand coins moving around making it so easy to trace by any of us. There's no easier way to say "Hello look at me"

The media has just blown it out of proportion, but not much truth in it.  Terrorist activities were getting funded even before bitcoin and so are now. The decentralized, anonymous nature of bitcoins might make it suitable for carrying out illegal transactions, but as far as terrorism is concerned so are other currencies. The donors who fund terrorist activities can easily send dollars or why any other currency as anonymously as BTC.

The virtual anonymity should buy one enough time to do whatever nefarious thing they were going to do with the money, ESP if they are using strawmen to convert the btc to whatever currency they use. I generally agree. There's only a slight issue with them using Bitcoin and that is; It has a public trail via the blockchain. If they ever slip up and expose their address then it will be publicly known throughout the world and openly out there for everyone to verify and see. Yes,it is possible. Because it is difficult for the government to track their illegal transactions and using bitcoin could be very well convenient for them. No taxation and identities were easy to conceal without the scope of anti-terrorism unit from the government.

I don't think ISIS will have time to sign up to get a BTC address and I don't think ISIS will have time to wait for confirmation that funds has been received on in their specified BTC address. And to think that they are always on the go and their usual hiding places don't have internet connection, (jungle or desert) BTC is not a good option for them to use. Specially if they want to change it to fiat.

They tried creating their own currency by minting gold, silver and copper coins (gold came from ransom payments). But this currency never became very popular, and in the end they abandoned the plans for minting new coins and continued to use fiat currencies such as the United States Dollar, Syrian Pound, Turkish Lira and Iraqi Dinar.

Yes it is true , bitcoin can use to various action such as , positive and negative , and I read some article that they using the what so called the TOR website where you can access different illegal website and it said that a pathway to the dark web. Where you can buy different illegal stuffs by bitcoin , without exposing yourself or your identity it's true though hackers , criminals , and terrorist.

From what I have heard, the ISIS is using bullion (especially gold) and hard cash (Syrian Pound, Turkish Lira, Iraqi Dinar, and some amount of United States Dollar and Euro). It is not very convenient for them to use Bitcoins. Because in the neighboring countries, there are no major Bitcoin exchanges.
