To turn this into a proper escrow, would friedcat be happy with proof of the funds being in the escrow account before shipping and then the private key to the address being provided to him when proof of end-user delivery has been provided?
I believe the issue at hand here is not escrow versus ASICMINER; it's Group Buyees (us) vs. Group Buyer (arklan).  I suppose we can escrow against ASICMINER as well, but I don't think that's really necessary.

My personal vote is for what is currently in OP: 2% fee to John, shipping and handling fee to arklan; 2.1013 per unit.  If OP wants to do a S&H discount on "bulk" orders, great, but I don't mind either way.  If John wants to reduce his fee, great, but I don't mind either way.

Regardless of what OP decides the final agreement to be, all that is important is that it is laid out clearly prior to accepting payments.  A new, fresh thread would be helpful to clear the deck once that happens.

+1 They will have earned those fees several times over before this is finished lol I have no problem rewarding someone for their time and effort and the proposed fees are fair IMO.

Agreed on all points. If there are those who are uncomfortable with this arrangement, I'm sure another group buy is/will be available. Let's get this show on the road. I'm anxious to get my "Nearly Half as Fast as a Decent Video Card!" ASIC miners. Tongue

yea, USPS will be the carrier.

i pm'd friedcat, and he has said we can pay anytime.

as to a hard stop: 48 hours from now, i will stop accepting orders. 7 days from then, payments to escrow will be expected to be completed and all money gathered.

so we'll send payment to friedcat in 9 days, basically.

i'll update the OP accordingly.

I haven't been following this closely, but to confirm, we won't be getting the sticks any quicker if we send payment quicker than this?
(In other words, waiting a week for payment is fine?)

Also, in case I forget about this, please send a PM when everything is in order.

I'll be a bit chafed if there isn't a discount on shipping for "bulk" orders.  ~$55 to ship 10 USB devices through USPS from UT to OR is exorbitant.

Speaking as a representatives for the bulk buyers (if I can presume), any order of 10 units or more should be shipped out USPS overnight.  It's only 20 USD.

Arklan - Does this sound OK?

arklan - Any indication from friedcat about securing a place in line?  That's the only reason to pay sooner that I can see.

arklan - IMO plenty of us are happy with the escrow and how everything is set up.  People can back out and do a separate group buy if they wish.  No big deal and no reason to hold this one up.

The average order size is 4, how about we classify bulk as 5 and up Cheesy

This has nothing to do with my order size...

I thought you already said this was FINISHED. The longer we wait to send in the order, the longer it will take to get the devices and the more MONEY it will cost all of the existing participants.

1) The units are not yet shipping.
2) Arklan indicated he is checking into ensuring our place in line asap.
3) There's no guarantee that 100% of the users who asked for an allotment will actually pay up, so > 300 is a safety net against non-payment.

I would be and have felt 'chafed' when I get overcharged for shipping in small items.  This has happened a lot to me on e-bay.  I make a point of commenting one way or the other when about how the supplier handles things.

I am a single unit customer here.  If ~arklan continues to be as pro-active and reasonable as seems to be the case so far, I will add at least another 0.1 BTC.  If ~arklan can see his way clear to offer a shipping discount to those who require less workload and cost due to multiple unit orders it would be fine with me.
