I saw that post but it didn't link to a specific commit. The only thing that looked related from May 10 may be a commit about Icarus - but i only say that because i don't know what Icarus is.

The "enable" flags from the HEAD of cgminer are:

I stayed up too late last night figuring out how to build cgminer for a WR703N (actually it builds the whole WR703N firmware around it), based on xiangfu's Avalon work.

I have it mining on an attached Cm1 now.  Later today I'll test it with some Ztex boards and some BFL FPGA Singles.

(Anyone know how to unbrick a 703N with a bad flash without soldering to it?)

My router has OpenWRT firmware and USB port. CGminer works under OpenWRT, because it is Linux. Plug some USB hub with Block Erupters connected into USB port of the router, SSH into it and start CGminer.

I also have Efika MX ARM computer and Cubieboard coming soon (shipped but still on the way). With USB Block Erupters + ARM computer it's possible to build energy efficient mining rig with hashing power = 300 MH/s * number of Block Erupters.

john is, as i've said, going to submit the order immediately upon getting the info from friedcat. we are all set to go.

i've also picked up another hub so i can test 21 of these at a time. better then the 5 i was at... and of course, when i say test, i mean plug it in, run it for 1 share, then pack it.

Oh,  testing against DoA parts, nice.  Was not expecting that as part of the deal.

Now some of these other posts have me thinking about final getting rid of the stock firmware on my router.

Sarcastic fear aside, it struck me again how smoothly this has gone.  Here we have 100 virtual strangers who've made a promise in an anonymous forum to make a purchase worth $200-$4000+,  a promise that 95% of have followed through and immediately paid up.  I don't know how many of you have tried this before in other group buy contexts, but that just does not happen.

We're also collectively trusting two other virtual strangers with the equivalent of $100,000. Next, we're trusting a tiny, relatively unproven company to deliver us an in-development product that nobody outside that company has ever seen function.  We do this knowing that even if things go incredibly smoothly with manufacture/delivery, and the difficulty ramp is better than expected, none of us will see our ROI for at least 6 months, likely longer.

Pundits on either side of the 'will bitcoin last' argument need look no further.

We are far from out of the woods, but I to am blown away by how well things seem to have gone so far.  I never would have guessed that this high a percentage of participant paid up this quickly.  And it looks from what we can tell from my vantage point like Arklan and JohnK have been performing well.

Looks like the biggest risk point now is Friedcat coming trough, but he seems like the kind of person who gets things done.

Another big risk point is caprice on the part of the authorities when it comes to shipping.  Bitcoin is, I'm sure, ever more on people's radar, and that likely includes customs agents.

Lastly, there will be a point (I guess) where Arklan has box with $100,000 worth of equipment under his control.  Someone elses' $100k.  He could walk off with it at that point.  I very much doubt it, particularly as it is a pretty blatant and physical world crime, but at a systems level that is a weak point.   He could always say 'I was robbed.'  In fact, he could be robbed for that matter.

I've not seen and 'bonding' show up yet, but I'm guessing that someone who had done a couple of these deals successfully could obtain a $100k bond for a reasonable price if/when some person or organization specializing in bonding in Bitcoin-land evolves.  Or $1M.  More and more I'll be looking for such a thing as bonding to cover the system level loose ends in deals like this.

Well, I didn't want to be a wet blanket, but I don't really see the point of transferring the BTC to John.  I understand him being the point man on the due diligence of arklan, but since we will be trusting arklan with 100k of gear, why wouldn't we trust him with 100k of BTC?  I'm not complaining about anyone involved or their fees, I am just trying to find a way to make it more convenient for everyone.

I was also thinking if I were FriedCat and had intentions of continued retail in the US, I would hire a trusted individual in the US to do the resale.  Isn't that how everything else gets done?  You have the benefit of drop-shipping pallets of miners, and rapid deliveries of orders.  Of course, If I were FriedCat, I would probably be on the beach by now, being served drinks by supermodels.

Well, $100k USD equivalent in BTC is liquid. I.e., easy and worth walking off with.

Four hundred odd little devices which can't be readily fenced on 'the street', not so much so.

And just thinking about that a bit. That would also be a lot of USB communication. Pretty sure it wouldn't exceed the USB bandwidth specification. Not so sure about how much little back and forth traffic USB can realistically handle.
