egads!

The plaque which ends our society (see "The Stand" or "The Andromeda Strain") begins due to BitCoin hardware shipments.

come on friedcat, accept payment...
Well, it is still another six to ten days before friedcat is expecting to receive these things from manufacturing himself.

Everything I've seen so far is that ASICMiner has only accepted payment when they have goods ready to ship.

A refreshing change of pace from some other companies in this market space.

+1 - I've been requesting a payment address from friedcat with no replies so far. Hopefully he gets the chips soon enough.

Will this order be the first batch to go through, or was there a group buy that already went 300+ before us ?

I'm taking part in that European group buy and if I have understud correctly the discussion in their thread, they haven't sent in their order yet. The operator is waiting for official announcement from friedcat taking orders. Also the operator has been asking friedcat if the devices will have CE-mark, because without that they might be seised in customs. They have collected payments for 153 devices, as can be seen here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AkRHbOmCoH9PdEdWSkJ3MDFFelFkRVdjb280TUtqRWc&gid=0

...oh. well then, since we don't need the CE mark and have 429 paid for, looks like we're in the lead. yay us!

course we're ALSO waiting on friedcat to make the official announcement that he's taking orders.

I'm waiting that too Smiley I have the BTC ready, but won't send it to yxt (the operator of group buy) before we are actually ordering.

The discussion is mainly in German, but yxt is translating everything important to English Smiley

imagine the rest of us doing the same. I suppose when orders are open yzt will send the collected BTC, as soon as they are for >300 units.. We don't want to hang on for ages waiting for people to give BTC.

No I realize that it is neither of your faults, and we continue to commnend both of you for the excellent and smooth process that this has become.  But I am sure that most are currently sharing my discomfort in watching difficulty rise and having to sit and wait for devices that are quickly becoming a bigger sunk cost, quite literally by the day. lol

I thought at the very least I could do bitcoin for a month or two, and then switch to an altcoin and have these things paid back within 4 to 6 months, but that is seeming less and less likely.

You realize these can't be used with litecoin, etc, right?

Yes I do know that, but PPcoin is a viable option, although currently Bitcoin is more profitable. blah
