So this is my first asic/fpga miner. Is there a quickstart guide?

- dl bfgminer
- configure bfgminer to target pool
- plug in
- profit

?
Pretty much.

Although,
1) while I've seen that cgminer is reported to work with these, I don't recall if the same has been said for bfgminer. (Due to other considerations, I'm intending to use MPBM.)

2) Reduce all power consumption as much as possible for maximum long term gains. Lots of people use a Raspberry Pi to meet this goal.

3) Don't expect much profit. It will be months, if ever, before these critters hit ROI at the price we've paid for them.

And regarding "?", are you intending to use a Linux or MS Windows machine? Different headaches depending on which way you swing.

I have newbuntu and XP. I'd prefer XP. I reckon there'll be some technical issues just like when I did gpu mining.

the hub i'm using in that picture is the much discussed 12 port usb hub from saitechi. it wouldn't power more then 3 erupters. i've got an anker 10 port usb 3.0 now (and two more en route) running five of them plus the fan and my cell phone charger no problem.

anyone know a readily available USB hub which support individual port port power 'on' and 'off' using software such as usb-ctrl.c? I have seen mentions of these but yet to find an easily available model. I guess it would be ideal for Block Erupter USB.

Anyone have the settings to get CGMINER to work with MULTIPLE units on Linux?  Every example I've seen only references one.   Kano?

Thanks.  Amazon says that satechi hub is a 5V 2A hub.
So I guess we have to assume erupters are pulling more than 500mA or the hub specs are fudged.

Good to know.  Better stick to 3.0 hubs then.

The Satechi hub is also specified as only being able to drive 250mA per port REGARDLESS of current supplied, so it may not even work with one BE USB.

also - guys with 10 or more: it's been brought to my attention that one such order got priority shipping, not express. i'm thinking that, despite my instructions, the office depot worker screwed up. if you guys could check to see if this is the case for you and let me know, i'd appreciate it. i'll figure out some sort of compensation if it's the case. probably a btc refund.

Mine is showing up as Priority as well.  Delivery is supposed to be Tuesday, so I don't need a refund.  Keep up the good work.

By the way, EBay removed one (1) of my listings because I had a link to the USB driver Friedcat posted.

Bastards!

I reckon you'll be doing a mad scramble to unpack them, and then get them packed up again, and to the post office to ship out the same day.

Maybe if Arklan's feeling nice he'll tell you the weight of each miner so you can prepare the labels in advance.

Looks like he folded a piece of construction paper and taped the edges  Shocked

No wonder the case got cracked. I guess mine will be a bag full of sharded fragmented plastic.
