What a stroke of luck - it would seem that the cables made by Cablez (here on bitcointalk) for the BFL FPGA Singles are a perfect fit for the Anker USB hub, so you can power it off of your power supply.

Edit - make sure you check the polarity of the plug (center positive) before you plug it in - some power supplies are weird.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=74397.0

NO NO NO DO NOT DO THAT! You will fry all of your connected USB devices. USB runs on 5 volts. That cable you have there gets an input voltage of 12 volts. Whatever you do, do NOT plug that into your block erupters!

Some of the USB3.0 hubs they were using seem to have internal bucking supplies to provide the 5v to the USB from a 12v wall wart.

However on most hubs you are correct, you will pop your hub and probably all your USB devices if you plug 12v into one designed for a 5v wall wart.

got tracking number.

F5-raping of fedex tracking page begins...
Fedex will be the one doing the raping.  Wink

yea, of ME.

i forgot to mention: i told fedex to charge ME for the customs and duties and such. i also declared them as a value of 100 USD each.

as i said previously, if any thing goes wrong in the shipping, it's on me. thus, if you gotta pay something to take delivry, let me know.
http://www.thefinalcost.com

If it was $20-30, Fedex probably wouldn't charge anything extra to avoid the papaerwork.

As of this post I have not received a tracking number although my order was marked shipped several days ago

hmm. two possibilities: i never shipped it, and that's the extra five i mentioned. or, since i can't find the tracking info from last saturday or tuesday, it was in there - i remember seeing the package with your forum name written on it - i swear... i suggest we wait a few days and see if it arrives, if that's alright with you.
I haven't received a tracking number either.  How did you send them?  email or PM?

As for the "extra" units.  They should be auctioned off internally and the proceeds should be split among all of us in proportion to how many we ordered out of the total.  I hate lotteries... random shit sucks.
My vote is with them belonging to arklan, to do with as he pleases.  Think what you will of that, but it's my vote for now.
+1 to them going to Arklan (after 6 months).

2nd choice is auction.

Hate lottery option.

If the 5 are over and above what is reasonable to have for guarantee work, I say give them to him now so he can sell them for a good price (or I should say, these absurd price which likely won't last for long.)

Seems to me that he's the guy who ran this show so it's legally and ethically right that the units are his outright.  We would not even know about them but for his high level of communications and transparency.

My thoughts exactly.  He could have just kept quiet and no one would have known.  While I like the idea of getting an extra one for free, I really think arklan deserves the extras.

+1 I agree with fpgaminer.
+1 agreeing with John K agreeing with fpgaminer.

I would agree... since he did do a good job.  But he was already paid 3 usbminers for his work... and the extra units are... well... there are a LOT of them.  19 or so?  That is no small sum!  I am all for giving gifts... but... DAMN I should have run a group buy!

There are extras for replacements.  He'll most likely have to replace some from this group buy, so he probably won't end up with 19 extra in all.  Maybe Arklan can mine with them to a single address and then at 6 months, distribute the earnings (minus a hosting fee to Arklan) proportionally to everyone in the group, and keep them for himself at that point.

Not 5... There are currently 24 "extra" units: 19 included under the terms of our warranties plus 5 unaccounted for.

Six months of arklan mining with them could range from 30 to 50 BTC, that's already a nice bonus for managing the return policy.

All I'm saying is it would be fun and generous to throw them back at the group when it's over.

24 extra ? Oh. That kinda changes things a bit :| I would say leave the 19 untouched for warranty reasons, and Ark keeps the remaining 5 for his efforts ?

If no-one needs warranty swaps after 6 months, auction them off within the original group buyers, as my $0.02

I might add that whatever the factors, this group buy put sapphires into peoples hand more quickly than any other that I know of, and for a rather modest markup as I see it.

And if ~arklan is one of the probably rare persons in the community who can be relied on to actually perform the desired warranty work over the coming 6 month period, we should count ourselves among the most fortunate Bitcoiners so far.

Again we are talking about the 19+ warranty units, warranty units covered under our 2.1013 payment. They belong to the group, and listed as warranty replacements by ASICMINER (~10 sent per batch of 300).

im biased as i've gotten my miners and have already recouped half of 1's cost but I say let him keep them to use with a couple untouched as warranty devices.

that or maybe he allow arklan to mine with them keeping his original percentage fee and then doling out the rest as dividends appropriated to the groups purchase percentage of each individual in the buy? I have free power so I'd offer to host the pooled collective but judging from how up in arms everyone is I dont know if its worth it.

Final thought on it is arklan did a great job I got what I paid and he was upfront about getting extras, if people feel jaded by this arklans reasonable and im sure he'll make a good decision even though per the terms he shouldn't have too.

Agreed.  When I ordered I had no idea that extras would be sent for warranty purposes, and I'm fine with arklan keeping them (and issuing them out for warranty purposes as needed).  As I am getting exactly what I expected to get, I look at any he gets to keep after the warranty period as a bonus for him doing a good job running the group buy.

that or maybe he allow arklan to mine with them

He has been mining with three hubs full including the warrantied units, at almost half a coin per day right now. After already being paid for 5, thats a very generous bonus from the group.

It would be a simple thing to throw the leftover warrantied units back at the group after 6 months.

I could get behind some kind of "perk" for participating in the group buy like this.  I'd side with Arklan either way he chose to go but I'd prefer something extra thrown my way if it's available.  I guess I'm a little greedy. Smiley  Arklan, it's totally your call.  Most of us are very grateful for your service and would be more than happy to see you get all the extra for your time and effort.  Of course, if we could all get a little icing on the cake, that'd be pretty cool too.  And since none of this was in the original agreement, no one can get upset about how much reward they are "entitled to" since they are "entitled" to none.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195004.0

After shipping we do not refund, but still guarantee a six-month warranty of free replacement like our blades. However the replacement should also come in batch (10 at one time).

The extra 19 aren't perk units, the retail 1.99 BTC price includes a 6 month warranty as per above. I wouldn't expect to get back used equipment after exercising a warranty return. If he is going to mine with the groups warranty units and keep the profits in addition to his original payment great, but it would be in good form to throw something back to the group.
