I think Bitcoin will not lose it's value at all. It's an unlikely scenario since you
have to consider bitcoin's current estimated value. It's here to stay.
However it may depreciate again, depending on the condition and factors
that may happen furthermore in the near future. Just like any other investments there
will be ups and downs.

Hi , I'm new so basically I still have a lot to learn about the cryptocurrency , but I would like to know if it would be possible for the bitcoin to start the downfall ? I mean like what scenario can happen that the bitcoin would be pushed back like 5-6 years ?
Sorry if my post is in the wrong place or it's not relevant.

bitcoin will not lose its value, because currently bitcoin is in great demand by investors and the future of digital technology is increasingly recognized by many people and society also needs digital currencies such as bitcoin

Anything can happen to bitcoin, including loss of value. One factor, because no one controls circulation and bitcoin values. Bitcoin like the jungle, the rich is the powerful.

Actually Bitcoin is a tool to earn profit of the rich guys. People are using it to fish many poeple all over the world joining Bitcoin, investing their money in it and maybe sometime all the money is gone and Bitcoin will be dead.  It's just my hypothesis, maybe it's not real. Haha

The predictions can be made regarding bitcoin future but they cannot be always accurate. The price may crash to lower point or it may be at spark so invest the amount you don't fear to loose but the current scenario makes BTC as priority among people who do not prefer fiat so it may not loose its value.

I have joined the Bitcoin network in 2011, I have seen many crashes and many Bitcoin bubbles. The first one was one bitcoin reached $1,000 price, then the most famous exchange the mtgox was crushed and so the price dropped to $200. After that we faced the China ban and then the hackers have stored many Bitcoins from the exchanges. Then we have faced the ransomware and so on.

Yeah,I think it is possible for the Bitcoin to lose it's value anytime.Bitcoin is a business. Although Bitcoin is a profitable business, it lose it's value sometime.Because, it is not so much popular like gold, computer etc.For this reason,it is possible to lose bitcoin's value

Bitcoin is not a business. Bitcoin is a commodity. But other than that distinction, I agree that Bitcoin can lose its value. Its value is arbitrary, and seems to be a bubble to me. There's no large scale underlying utility supporting these prices increases, everyone just seems to be buying because everyone else is, and because everyone is buying, everyone is under the delusion that the price will always go up. Nothing in the world works that way, and Bitcoin is not an exception.

Maybe it it's starting years, it would. But now that it's turning to a decade, it's unstoppable and no one can find a way to do it.

Anything may happen, including a bitcoin lose value once, if there is a better coin than bitcoin then I'm sure bitcoin will slowly be abandoned and eventually lose value.

I think that the price of bitcoin will only fall, however it won't lose its value, at that time it is only an opportunity to buy more bitcoins and then wait for the increase in its price before redeeming it again.

I don't think that this distinction makes a lot of sense

You could call Bitcoin a commodity just like you can call gold that, but obviously it won't tell us anything about either since there are plenty of other commodities but Bitcoin as well as gold is certainly different. So what's the point? You fail to understand the real relationship between Bitcoin and the crowd. Indeed, technically speaking, it is a bubble (or even a financial pyramid of sorts) but people consider Bitcoin as a hedge against their national currencies which are being constantly devalued. What does it mean in practice? It likely means that such bubbles can exist indefinitely long or, at least, as long as there are depreciating fiat currencies sticking around. Don't forget that apart from a few more or less stable currencies like the US dollar or Euro, there are over a hundred other currencies which are not as good as the ones I just mentioned

It is not possible for Bitcoin to lose it's value anymore. Maybe at the beginning it could have been coerced, but the idea of decentralized censorship-resistant money would never go away and we would see new, and better attempts at taking over cash. Because let's face it, gold and especially cash, are on it's way out especially in this digital world that we all live in today.

Go down I think, but lose it's value, it's too impossible. If you are going to look right now, bitcoin's value has increased a lot amidst all the troubles it has faced this year. Bitcoin was banned in China but still the value increased after a few weeks of recovery of bitcoin from it. This just simply show the firmness and ability of bitcoin's value to grow even though there are some troubles occuring outside.

I don't think so. Bitcoin has been reigning as the cryptocurrency which has the highest value and the increase of its value is still ongoing and it never stops. We all know that bitcoin is said to be the future currency of the world which means the value of it for sure will grow and grow since it is being supported by many from different countries. Bitcoin will have its value going down and loosing its value won't happen.

Bitcoin is an active precursor in the history of online payments. The use of the internet and the technology aimed at it is simply the future, so bitcoin has emerged as a new technology in order to end absurd rates and delay in sending remittances all around the world. Its value is like any financial asset. which is given by the volume of purchase and sale, suffers from news of great impact, is the cause for controversy, etc. I do not doubt that many people on the wall street want to see the end of it in the next decade and if someone succeeds in this difficult task, the coin could lose its value a lot, but I do not believe that the cryptocoins will end soon. Bitcoin has survived so many thin in the past that each year we see records on its valor and that will keep going forever!

Just look at the past few days. The price of the bitcoin went down half a thousand in like a day. The thing that you must know when you get involved with bitcoins is that everything is possible and the price might go as low as back to 300 dollars in a few days easily if the massive dump starts. The price is fluctuating all the time.

I remember the day when mtgox scam happened, that was terrible. All people suddenly understood that they might lose all their savings on the exchange so they started selling it massively. Other people who saw that the price is going down started fomoing and selling it as well in order to take as small loss as possible.

To be honest at the moment, ethereum seems to be way better investment option short term. A lot of people are jumping in order to make as much profit out of it as possible, so I wouldn't be surprised if the price started going up again. Bitcoin is becoming weaker and weaker with time as eth market cap is going up.

Nice to see a post like this  only a few months later.

June 14th: $347.78 ETH
June 14th: $2503.40 BTC

Nov 6th: $307.18 ETH (lost 12%)
Nov 6th: $7348.17 BTC (won 294%)

bitcoin will lose its value on a frontal basis if large markets such as bittrex and poloniex are forcibly shut down by the federal financial watchdog. Although bitcoin will continue to increase again, but if the world can think unequivocally without compromise, it will happen, but in fact almost all governments consider bitcoin as the best choice for global financial solutions so that it never gets a sharp breakdown sharply.

It is very likely that the price of bitcoin will drop to souvenir / rare values once. It will not be equal to zero, but it is not high either - what is the value of a coin with a circulation of 21 million?
