The boards will use 32 watts each, so each board will look like a light bulb to your power company.
Lol a power company can't tell what you're using the power for. However, they might see an increase of 1,000kWh per month, and they might know you're up to something. It'd be interesting to get a call from them... "what are you doing that takes up so much power?!" "Building a flux capacitor! Tell Marty to get over here!"

It was a reference for justmyname's concern of using "too much electricity". That being said, an itemized power bill for any serious Bitcoin miner would be downright hilarious.

I think TH has great intentions. but they are tied to BKKs completion of his project.

Earlier in the thread Terrahash did state that all boards would come with heatsink. That alone may or may not be enough though, so I'd plan on having something to supplement just in case.
@Terrahash: That hasn't changed has it?
Bump, and this^?

So how many here are on the short list for Tuesday?
I figure: 10,000 chips divided by 16 per K16 Board, is 625 small boards or 156 large boards.
We don't yet know the USD they are will be asking but we should assume at least 100% mark-up on the chip price (so as to be able to buy twice as many chips) plus the cost of the board and MOB, plus the operating costs of their SMT line, plus paying themselves. So maybe the wiser here can throw some more numbers at this and come up with a guesstimate of what they need to ask for their products. I wonder if there will be/should be a maximum # per customer per round? It would keep in the spirit of "decentralized" and "P2P" I think. I am sure that there are many here with the funds ready to buy out the lot, I would hate to see that happen. I mean we are talking about 2,820Gh/s lets not lose sight of the responsibility of such power. That is almost 2% of today's network speed.

Actually I doubt the prices will be quite that bad. They are fixing prices in USD, sure, but there's no reason to assume they're going to jack the prices too much. for the K64 they were going 6.99BTC when BTC was ~125-130, so I'm gonna say around 950 for the K64, give or take. That's increasing the price slightly from what the conversion would have been, to compensate for the increased risk of accepting paypal and possibly dealing with chargebacks As for how many... I'm personally betting that the site goes down in flames and the server running it is discovered to have become a puddle of molten slag on the floor lol

I have exactly 7BTC waiting for 64 board, and that news about usd payment are damn bad to me. I invested a lot (for me), and now, if they convert the price, I will have very hard time to buy anything... Please stick with the original plan. Many people are not prepared to changes.

I see your view, but people could already do massive purchases of ASIC's that are in people's hands (with enough money) and GPU's to take a significant portion of the hash rate as it is. It seems like your post is implying that there should be a maximum of these chips each person can buy?

@TerraHash Any updates on how the board bring up process is going ? Also your thoughts on purchase quantity limits since demand will most likely exceed supply ?

"Q. When do you start shipping? A. The boards for which we provide the Avalon ASICs, will start shipping around late July. We have already ordered 20,000 Avalon chips, and will order more in the coming days. As soon as we start receiving those chips, we will start shipping out our orders. For assembly services, once we receive the chips from you, we will be able to ship out the finished boards in less than 2 weeks."

It depends if you provide the Avalon chips it's 1,99. Otherwise your paying for the chips also.
