Phil and colleagues,
What we are doing before 31st of July with coins we have at: poloniex, coinbase, hashnest and other services?
Electrum? Bitcoin Core wallet? Or just leave them on those websites?
I would not leave Bitcoin on any exchange - but I don't normally do that anyway except for small quantities that aren't worth the transaction fee (yet) to move. Convert to cash, spend on more mining gear on or before July 30, convert to a different coin, or leave in your own wallet in that order are the safest options. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2019146.msg20201410#msg20201410

I hope this 'Bitcoin Cash' fizzles rather quickly. Yes, we'll have some extra coins on another chain, but BTC would be at A.T.H. at the moment, if it was not for this. We've lost way more value in the last week since SegWit2x has been activated, than Bitcoin cash will ever be worth. Don't make this chapter prolonged by feeding into this craze...
Think about this before you chase any alt-BTC...

befor eyou choose core's route; consider the original intentions of satoshi himself. They have gone above and beyond what was in the scope of BTC just by adding segwit; not to mention the retardation they call "2x". Notice the lack of TX spam happening now? Wheres the actual need for segwit? Oah, that's right... there isn't. There was only a need for a blocksize bump. nothing more. Wait for a flaw in segwit to be exploited... you'll see what I am talking about.

Okay I have 90% of my coins in btc in a core 0.14.2 wallet that has 4 hdd backups. Still wonder if this is wise but I am staying with that. I have .5btc contract with hashnest can not do anything I have under .10 btc in 2 blockchain hot wallets I have under .10 btc in bittrex exchange mostly DBG and SIA I have under .01 btc in poleniex I have .035 btc in coinbase I have 7.0 ltc in coinbase. I have 0.01 btc in a trezor. I sold a lot of coins and gear and have a strong cash position in my bank. This was my best year ever and I am not looking to lose everything back in a crash. However if a crazy stupid crash happens I may buy a lot of coins. As of yesterday, all of my group's position have been converted to fiat (40%) and coins (60%).... BTC, ETH, LTC and DASH (Trezor and Core 0.14.2). One key change is that, my group is dumping Coinbase in favor for another provider. All of the group's Coinbase accounts are now zero and mining operations have started using new BTC addresses. There's an issue in maintaining Coinbase account for non-American users - as per advised by our contacts. SEC involvement and taxation will be more aggressive for crypto industry... We will also have Skype and Viber communications lines open, Y2K inspired, during July 31st, Aug 1-2 with our Labrador hosting facilities (Cryptoboreas and GND). We may activate contingency plans to swing the 2.2PH BTC farm to mine other SHA256 coins like PPC or DGB temporarily. This BTC mess is sad case - why cant they just get along?

Wait for a flaw in segwit to be exploited... you'll see what I am talking about. That does not make sense. The people who want the '2x' are not the same people who want SegWit. That's why it was a compromise... Wait till they get their 2MB/4MB/8MB blocks. That latency will kill the decentralized network and promote a more centralized mining pool that can tolerate that kind of extra latency/propagation time. I hope you're okay with antpool mining empty blocks. Hint: that's why they want bigger blocks! *Edit* I agree that the spam is gone. I would have been fine with neither, aka, the status quo, but that is no longer an option.

I bet we will be glad that someone had some cow sense to have a backup plan.

Bittrex has said that they will credit bcc 1:1 with btc and have a market for bcc I think. then they will close the BCC market after a little while and that will be all. bcc is simply an altcoin with an airdrop.

yeah, I agree citronick. BCC is a lot more likable then the other options in my opinion; mainly because it sticks to the original intent of BTC.
But; they did make BCC have 8mb blocks; so; Im curious as to hoe much spam people will be hitting it with to try and make it fail; since the spam will cost next to nothing (my best guess), they will probably do it just to push it further down the ladder of acceptance.
Had core just increased blocksize to 2mb-4mb; we would not be enduring this retardedness.

Wow, things are getting more interesting in the very short time frame!
I definitely will not cash any of BTC. Coinbase just sent an announcement to stick to main blockchain. Being in US it is quite a good source to buy BTCs from them.
Phil said that he has coins in Core - so that what I will do too
We are living in interesting time

Note I cashed a lot a week or 2 ago. But for now I am in a very well backed up core. which scares me. as I always fear mechanical failure of the gear.

yes and if you use 2 molex cables not 2 jacks from 1 cable it can work. of course you can not jack the gear to 200 watts Running the 1080 ti at 75% or less means .75 x 250 or .75 x 300 that is 187.5 watts to 225 watts and that would be about 94 to 112 watts on that part. since you have a second pcie cable doing the other jack it would do 94 to 112 and of course if plugged into a riser a third cable from a completely different molex could do 75 safe It should work. I would worry more doing it with a 1070 supply all the power to the 1070. I used these back in the day mining btc 2012-2013 they never smoked but I tend to downclock and undervolt to be safe. I am assuming you answered the question as though this was being plugged into the card directly. For powering risers would a double molex be overkill, does a single molex supply enough power to the riser for 100% TDP? Or would two be safer? okay theory is a riser pulls 75 watts max and a molex can provide 75 watts max. now to go past theory you need to know the molex cable you have. as that is for 18 gauge not 20 or 16. most molex is 18 or 20 gauge not 16. If I were certain of three things 1) molex is 16 gauge 2) card maxes at 75 watts 3) psu has good molex receptacle I would maybe run the card at 100% with 1 riser to 1 molex Fact is the few times I have done it I burned out my molex at the connection on the risers So I am 0 for 3 . or 0 for 4. With hard pushed cards on a riser with a single molex and or a single sata. Others will say they are good. But I was not. Thanks Phil legend. I will only go down the 2x molex on different cables route if I am ever in that situation.

Are those prices without taxes, because in eu 1080ti goes for 900-1000€...
all those prices are the result of careful shopping and are my full cost the msi my best deal was 699 - 35 = 664 with taxes and shipping the zotac my best deal was 669 - 48 = 621 with taxes and shipping the zotac mini was 750 - 50 + 4 = 704 with taxes and shipping the evga was 759 +53 = 812 - 50 = 751 with taxes and shipping I wanted to test it and after 40 days if it is not good I will return it. the best price I ever paid for a new card was 639 -63 = 576 that was an asus 1080 ti the worst price was 720 + 63 = 783 that was the aorus 1080 ti this was my least favorite card it hashs fine ,but is big and fat and heavy my setups are not designed for a fat card. I have purchased about 35 1080 ti's so far. I built multiple rigs and I sold off a few 1080ti's. USA Prices can be very good compared to Europe

Anyone else excited for Vega this sunday? People have gotten 37mh/s eth on the FE editions and if the cutdown chip goes for $350-$400, we got a new contender.
37mh/s eth, despite poor optimizations + close to 1080ti compute performance. It will be a beast.
Currently I sold all BTC. Only hold ETH, small amounts of various other coins, gear and cash. After Vega release and bitcoin fork issues,if coins has a big dip, I'll buy in BTC.
Else if Vega is priced right, spend cash on vega. Otherwise spend cash on more 1080tis and sit pretty till volta next year. Because I will max out my warehouse's electricity with this expansion. Need to rent a proper industrial unit for future expansion.

i have so many backups of the core wallet.dat its ridiculous. i add the coin type (as ltc used the same wallet.dat name) and date to the end of the name to keep them straight. one drive with backups (all important backups, not just coin related) also goes into my safe deposit box at the local bank. need at least one backup set off site. trezors rock. paper wallets are nice too. i use both. i keep copies of the trezor seed words and the paper wallets in my safe deposit box too.
