In my opinion the best to choose between these two when it comes to the terms of trading is altcoins. This is because trading is nothing more than a risk and if someone decides to tae risk on his life putting all his money into one thing, the bitcoins should not be used at all as they are quite high rated and must be kept aside waiting for the time when the prices are at the peak.

With how you said it, it basically states that bitcoin is a lot better for investments. Some altcoins probably are good investments as well like eth and ltc. But bitcoin still would be the proven, most logical choice.

Don't forget that, altcoins always rise or fall according to btc's fluctations mainly. Yes, there will be always price movements of altcoins independent from btc, but according to the graphics, the prices changes are connected to btc's changings usually. I think btc is the #1 coin and I think it is better to invest in btc instead of the altcoins.

For me it is still the bitcoins because there are way too expensive and successful so less risk to have rather than altcoins. But still there are risk, because it might fall like when the segwit occurs or aome country will banned it again. But altcoins on the other hand was also a great investment but the only thing that i see to have a good outcome is the ethereum because that is the only altcoin for me that have a great potential like what bitcoins have before.

For the long term, Bitcoin, short term, altcoins. There is no doubt that the long term returns on Bitcoins are near guaranteed, as long as you watch and keep an eye on things to be sure. Fast and dirty profits are the altcoin thing and that is really easy, so that may be the best route for you, although Bitcoins is pretty much buy and sit there and and watch the money.

I would always choose Bitcoin, for me it still has more advanatages compared to altcoins. I have never cared too much for altcoins and I think there are only few of them that are worth of attention, like Etherum. With altcoins you are also exposed to biger risk and very often smaller profit also, unless in very short term trading options.

To be honest it will depend on your risk appetite. Bitcoin is the most stable coin in the market and most likely the price will go higher each year. For altcoins there are coins out there that are cheap right now but has a good potentials. But SegWit has already been activated though? And why would SegWit crash the price? That makes no sense.

Investing bitcoin still has risks. It can crash 90% tomorrow without any sign. Though I personally think it has the lowest risk investment out of all.

Also, it is very very untrue that no other coin will compete with bitcoin. It's too early to say. Who knows, a new cryptocurrency 5-10 years from now will defeat bitcoin in terms of technology and innovation in general? That's why it's always not a good idea to go all in on cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin,there is no doubt in it that the price of bitcoin keeps increasing on the long term. Altcoins are good for short term investment but for long term investment, Bitcoin is the  best option. What I do is buy bitcoin and hold it for long term while i trade on altcoin for short term.

Day trading is doubtlessly a good way to increase the capital on daily basis but altcoins is not a good option. I think bitcoin can be much profitable for this. It value increases more than any other digital currency.

For me ita better if you have bitcoin and if you have altcoins . Hold your bitcoins for longterm and for sure you will esrn a lot of profit. Altcoins are very cheap right now, most of them are in red numbers because of the last bitcoin crash of the last week. So it is better to re-stock your portfolio of some cheap altcoins right now, it is a great opportunity.
