10 ethereum is much better and more profitable. Rather I suggest you to diversify between btc and eth.

With $3000 to invest, is there any advantages to either, with the expectations/hopes that they both will continue to grow? Just trying to see what others would do, as I plan to let this initial investment sit for 5yrs minimum in a cold wallet.
Thanks ladies and gents!
It's really hard to speculate the value of coins. But, I guess since BTC is the main crypto currency ever since, and it bloomed a lot. I still think that it will still grow bigger. It's really hard to predict, but just look on the picture. It started very low few years ago and look at it's value now. Same goes with other crypto especially ETH. Maybe you can just invest your money to both. Just to be safe.

Always split up your investment. I think BTC might be the one to stay in the long term. Simply because it was the first and is the "king"

Split your investments 50:50 or 30:70 in favor of Bitcoin. Also after the fork Bitcoin on the main chain might go down considerably in price so you could buy then and net more profit.
Also my thought. This is the best way you can do so you'll stop confusing yourself. These two coins are great for long term investment so why should choose only one if it will give you high profit in the future. Always go for a high profit and don't waste every single cent.

If you are investing using fiat money, just go with Ethereum. There is a simple reason for it : your Ethereum value will increased in BTC, and your Bitcoin value will increase in USD. Thus you will end up having a double win which you would have not on Bitcoin alone.

I would definitely choose 1 BTC over 10 ETH. Some say it's not advisable to hold BTC with the incoming event on August 1. I personally think that I should hold BTC instead of ETH. The potential of BTC is higher than the potential of ETH on raising the price.

But what about what I said ? The trick is to get more bitcoins at the end. For this you buy ETH using fiat money - and this is very important ! - and then you win in both because the amount of indirect bitcoins you bought increase because ETH price increases, and in term of fiat you are winning too because Bitcoin price rose.

Both have the potential to increase, but if you want to buy and save it first, I advise to choose 1Btc that you have to buy. But if I become you, I will split those two funds. 50% for Btc, 50% for ETH

I think there are chances for both of them because now in many countries ETH is accepting as one of their payment options. So both of them has great demand when it comes to value in coming days. So we have to diversify them according to the situation we are facing.

I agree with diversifying. If 10 ETH is your budget, go 5 ETH and 0.5 BTC. If you like riskier bets, then spread 10-20% of your budget on promising altcoins, such as AiCoin.
Maybe it should weight more on the ETH.

Its better to unvest the half of your money in bitcoin and the half will be in ethereum because this two have big potential to increase more in the future. More bitcoin and more ethereum more profit you earn for sure . Because I believe the price of ethereum will become 1000 dollars and for the bitcoin will become 5000 dollars that happen for before end of this year 2017. Invest now.

If I think it's better to buy bitcoin than Ethereum. And if there is an option for Altcoin, I prefer Waves, besides its price is not too expensive, I think waves have good potential for future Crypocoin

It depends on your risk perception. In 5 years maybe Ethereum will be hacked again. All your money might gone. It's very long time, hard to speak bold on this matter. I prefer to hold Bitcoin in long term because Bitcoin proved itself. On the other hand we see problems about Ethereum every year. Remember DAO incident and hard fork? There are 2 Ethereum coins in the market now. How could you trust a coin like that?

I could not say more. Maybe the only problem about bitcoin in 5 years will be the high electricity consummation.

In my mind in this case it is wise to chose btc. Because in the long run btc has more potential because of its positioning as "main" crypto coin. On other hand if one would want to invest short-term ETH has more potential, right now it could easily go to ~400$ which is 100% profit . But the BTC most likely will not go to 5000$ so soon.

I would definitely choose 10 ETH instead of having to choose 1 BTC because according to my prediction ETH will grow because of being more used than BTC. ETH is being optimized platform and generating a lot of altcoin from this platform so i'm sure future ETH will probably become the top cryptocurrency

But you need know Ethereum had growth early 2017 until today very fast. With an altcoin growth as ETH and the rules on market, need have correction price in long time before want comeback again. This is reason make me choose Bitcoin for holding.
