I recently read an article of one guy on reddit that is mentioned by NEO, and he says that NEO is full of problems that could be hardly solved. They are centralised, they are not active on GitHub, they have fishy projects on their blockchain.

Am I the only one that is extremely dissapointed in the way NEO handled this whole 3 days until life-changing-news? All the things they announced, we already knew.

And another platform for ICOs? Stop already with the ICOs, there is too much moneygrabbing & definitely too much coins. This could be the change for NEO to use their own capital to support those projects they seem fit. In that way they could actually prevent shitcoins from coming on the market, because they oversee their intentions & development.

You don't need 20 million dollars to develop an app for example, otherwise all the app-developing companies wouldn't exist.

Yes, as outlined in the roadmap and whitepaper. Went up a month ago. Will go up again in future, too, again as outlined in the roadmap and whitepaper. Total supply is 100m, minus the remaining 35 held by the NEO council = current supply of 65.

This little pump and dump was poorly handled and, as Lerider himself said on Slack, lessons were learned:

My twitter happened to be the source for West. The "riddle" was completely lost among regulation rumors and photoshopped pictures, which we denounced as soon as it came to our attention. The github competition template was leaked and created rumors that happened to be true, so it didn't come as a surprise. We could obviously have handled the weekend in a better way, and we will evaluate it in detail. We didn't react too much on the rising price since Ontology alone is huge for us, and NEX is also big. Part of the "marketing" was that we want some attention on these ecosystem developments as well, but it got overshadowed by rumors. We have more than enough evaluation to do now

The irony is that what they were actually announcing, and what everyone heard before the announcement and thus became 'old news', was actually pretty cool and good for NEO's growth. If they hadn't said anything at all, the NEO price would probably have gone up a few $$ based on the news alone. But, since 97% of people holding NEO seem to expect it to become the Chinese national blockchain in the next 5 minutes, what should have been welcome news was perceived as a huge disappointment.

Lerider and Fred Huang were careless and handled this poorly, there's no question. Given how excitable the crypto community is, the 'hype' was irresponsible. But unreasonable and impatient expectations about NEO mooning also played a role. We need to remember how far NEO has come already, and not let our imaginations cloud the reality that sustainable growth will take time.

Thank you Eleanor for letting understand this whole mad situation better. I've been an investor for quite some time now and it really saddens me to see this kind of speculation, spread of false information and rumors, and especially flocks of idiots flooding twitter with useless comments, just because they expect NEO to get to 1000 $ overnight.

I hope the guys of the Neo team can learn from this experience: never make announcements of announcements or overhype anything: too many stupid people spreading false rumors that will be believed by too many idiots.

P.S. sorry for the rant, but seeing this level of stupidity from "investors" really worries me.

I guess Neo are really sorry about it and promise not to do it again... Not. They spread hype, got everyone whipped up in a frenzy then dumped their newly released coins at a high of 0064 and watched the market bleed out again..... Big bagholders will have to wait a long long time before market sentiment rides with Neo again.

I still believe in NEO for sure, prices short term are not relevant for me, I bought some Antshares when they were below 1$. There is still much room to grow in my opinion, maybe not the next few days or weeks, but it will.

After days of speculations around the matter, NEO finally announces a developer competition
with Microsoft. UseTheBitcoin team wrote about that some days ago and we were contacted
from NEO to modify the title, as it may be misleading. Now, the competition is confirmed by
NEO and the title is correct.
