The price SHOULD decline for the next few weeks to few months, start to level off around month 3 or 4, then if the community sees value in it, steadily climb(or it could be pumped up too since it is cheaper to do).

So the reason I say that is because the Supply is at an all time high. Imagine if all of a sudden there was double the amount of BTC available. What would happen?The Supply rose by a lot and is too much while the Demand is still the same. So the price very likely and SHOULD fall in the short term(until the demand/supply ratio balances better).

Does that make sense? It is a very simplistic view I agree, but one I think we should take in to consideration.

Hype on BCH is not the same with the hype of other altcoins that can considered as good for long term holding. For now, Im not considering to put money on BCH since I don't see a majority support here, in other words, I don't know when or how it will be pumped again. I think that that BCH is a bad buy at the moment....the network is barely even producing blocks meaning that there is zero liquidity to the network at the moment....the only coins on the exchanges were the people who had BTC on those exchanges and received BCH....as soon as any mining power goes to BCH and difficulty goes down...lots of liquidity will come back and tons of supply will be dumped.

I would hold off for a while but that's just my opinion. Considering the market for BCH is far more volatile than BTC and there's a high-ish chance of just losing money right now, I would wait to see where it goes unless, maybe, you're putting in shorts for the altcoin. But you can see that it is down >30% over the past 24 hours, and to me that spells bad news for any coin that is trying to gain a foothold and bad news for any investor who's trying to make money off of gains. I guess it plays out the vision of the Bitcoin Unlimited folks. In some way, it is a network split, but technically, they are actually just forking off onto another network. It's a speculative investment vehicle like any other altcoin.

As an aside: Unless my calculations are wrong, difficulty on Bitcoin Cash just dropped 36%. My brain is too fried right now to run the numbers, but I'm guessing it is getting close to being profitable to mine (if not already).

I'd still say it could drop quite a lot more. Like any altcoin, it probably hasn't completed its initial plunge. I'm guessing a lot of people are still hesitant to touch their keys and recover their BCC, but that a lot of them eventually will. It's supported on some big exchanges, and the price makes it worth it.

I'm not selling, but I would never buy at these prices. I might chuck a little coin at it if it drops to the .01 range and is still profitable to mine.

The beauty of the airdrop is that bitcoin holders don't need to have additional risk appetite. We already have private keys that can access coins on both chains. It's really tempting to dump my BCH (because, free money!) but I think there is a very, very tiny chance that it could end up being a major competitor for Bitcoin. I think there is also a decent chance that it will pump hard at some point. Since there is no additional risk, it seems worth it to hold. For now, anyway.

If you think a pump might be likely, it could happen on any altcoin, not just BCH. The profits will be much larger if you pick an alt with small market capitalization which is likely to get pumped soon.

Have been studying the difficulty of BCH since it is important factor which can indicator of the price.
I understand that there are rules when the difficulty will adjust but since the hash rate is variable , we can only approximate when it will be.

I've just sold all my BCH because I realised that by holding it I was supporting it.  It was free money, anyway, and I've got no interest in BCH.  I do not like the way it appeared out of nowhere with basically a week's notice and I think that Bitcoin with segwit is superior.  It's disappointing to me that so many exchanges have it now, but I guess there are a LOT of people with free BCH from the fork last month, so that is a lot of business for those exchanges.  I would love to see BCH disappear altogether.

Actually I think that it is fine to do that. It is basically free coins from the fork and if it drops to 0 (or close to) value you could pretend that this coin did not ever exist. But, I strongly advice against going from the relatively stable and predictable bull market of BTC into the uncharted waters of BCH. Sure, there could be a chance that it would be decently valuable but the odds are against it. I'd personally invest any money into other promising altcoins such as XMR that are relatively stable instead of BCH. As TehJoker already said, most people think that BCH is just a clone and thus most people just dump theirs after the fork, and the value will probably just go downhill as time passes.

I think that the ONLY ONE factor that matters when we talk about the Bitcoin Cash in short term is Mining difficulty.
It was very clear in the past few days when difficulty adjusted in such way that Bitcoin Cash had lower difficulty than Bitcoin.

this particular altcoin will never have any "power" and will never get out of "toddler" ages as long as bitcoin is alive and strong.
any other altcoins that had nothing to do directly with bitcoin can grow big and strong with time but not bitcoin cash because it is against bitcoin and it has always been from even before its creation. and since bitcoin is not going anywhere and there won't be anything wrong with it ever, there is no room for BCH.

Yes and that is also why the transactions are still fast and they have low fees. This is just a starting crypto currency unlike bitcoin that had been populated and getting more supporters.

Nice term used for bitcoin cash. Indeed the project has potential of making good name in the crypto market but it will take some time. That will become another crap if the difficulty will be decreasing again in the future, in other way another competitor for the bitcoin cash will be appearing as the bitcoin gold after the next bitcoin fork.

I totally agree with you. What I have seen so far with BCH is just a pump which I am sure was just a manipulated one. BCH so far has not really shown any promising future and I just do not know why it does not have much of a support probably because of how it came about but eventually only future will tell and it won't be a bad idea chilling a bit for a while and look at how things end up turning out for the coin before going in most especially at this high valued state.

It is very obvious to anyone that bitcoin cash has only been created to benefit the miners, this is why bitcoin cash has so little acceptance with the average user of bitcoin, if people actually thought that this was an honest attempt to create a new and better bitcoin then I think more people will use it, but since it is so obvious this is nothing more than a way to get money, most users do not bother with bitcoin cash.

BCH is definitely one of the beneficiaries from the cancelled fork. There was so much money flowing out of Bitcoin that BCH inevitably gained a big share of that, along with LTC. Now that the uncertainty of BTC continues, due to their block size, it would be wise to invest in alternatives, such as BCH and LTC, as they will be there when (if) Bitcoin fails. This of course won't happen 100%, but by beeing invested in LTC and BCH you are hedging yourself against potential losses. please do yourself a favor and don't buy any forked version of BTC especially BCH and BCG, they are really not worth it. Everyone is just trying to create a fork out of Bitcoin because BTC has a big user base and its the most popular cryptocurrency. They are basically taking advantage of that without offering anything significant of value in return. Non of these forked version offers some good enough to replace BTC, and even if they did, they are unlikely to even surpass BTC. The only candidate that could possible do so is a coin that does something completely different, like Ethereum for example. Ethereum was about to pass BTC at mid 2017 but that didn't happen for only about 8 billion or so. Does that mean it won't happen again? Probably not but we'll never know and only time will tell.

To buy or not to buy, it really depends on you. Everything in the cryptocurrency world has high risks. Some may go up, others may go down. Look at Bitcoin right now, it has reached $10,000 today. Same thing goes to Ethereum, it's now almost $500. BCH is now at $1,600+, and I'm not really surprised of it's surge.

My only advice to you is that only invest what you could afford to lose, and never put all eggs in one basket.

I was just commenting this on another thread but I will flesh it out a bit more here.


The price SHOULD decline for the next few weeks to few months, start to level off around month 3 or 4, then if the community sees value in it, steadily climb(or it could be pumped up too since it is cheaper to do).

So the reason I say that is because the Supply is at an all time high. Imagine if all of a sudden there was double the amount of BTC available. What would happen?The Supply rose by a lot and is too much while the Demand is still the same. So the price very likely and SHOULD fall in the short term(until the demand/supply ratio balances better).

Does that make sense? It is a very simplistic view I agree, but one I think we should take in to consideration.

First is that if you are a long term holder of BCC, never ever forget that a fork is 1:1, so if you have already sell your BCH then you're at the bad side, they are not nervous whether BTC will go up because some of them never sell their BCH.

Second is that BTC is the real crypto, if you're thinking that BTC will go down, you must be underestimating it. Hailes as a bert commodity in the crypto space, a 10k$ value is nothing if it has a global adoption.

Third is never ever forget the explanation of coindesk (correct me if I'm wrong) that these forks are the other way around, like gold, we already have barter, the silver, the oil and the fiat, still gold is expensive and everyone would like to buy it because its is precious and its characteristics are shining through the years. It is very easy to see that bitcoin cash is being heavily manipulated by the whales, and you do not really need to be that good at trading to see it, look at any of the other coins that are at the top of the market and you will see that while there is volatility in the market the volatility is nowhere close to what it is experimented in bitcoin cash, so if you are just starting out as a trader it will be a good idea to not trade bitcoin cash.
