Altcoin or alternative altcoin is a general type of coin. It has a lot of subcoins in which they are different to each other and used differently. And bitcoin is a specific type of coin in which it is very popular now. Then if bitcoin die I think altcoins will be used and will be popular if it will happen.

If bitcoin die, which I definitely doubt will happen, I think there will be a chance for other cryptocurrencies. And based on the current situation if I have to choose, eth can be that crypto who can stand up. And of course those exchanges will have no choice but to follow the trend because if not they will lose their business.

* WAR ? Armageddon ? Then altcoin wouldn't matter anyway right ? => Altcoin dies
* World government ban => Altcoin gets banned too => Altcoin dies
* Better/more supprime Bitcoin Alternative (ex:BTC v2) =>Altcoin probably survive
So i think their destiny are connected, if one dies, the other would hardly survived

I don't think that's the case. There are actually a lot of things that makes altcoins different from bitcoin - its rules, blockchain, miners, and wallets. These altcoins uses different networks where they are produced, created, or mined. If ever bitcoin will be gone (which is not a probable thing to happen), altcoins will still live no matter what. They don't need to follow the rules of bitcoin since these altcoins are independent. If you are thinking that these altcoins will lose their values when bitcoin is gone, then you are wrong. altcoins can also be exchange to different currencies and cryptocurrencies other than bitcoin. For example, you can still exchange LTC to USD even if BTC is gone.

I think when Bitcoin dies altcoin will not die but it will just affect alt coins. If an alt coin price for example an alt coin btc volume is 10BTC and Bitcoin drops the Bitcoin volume of that alt coin will also drop it means the total price of that alt coin will be affected but will not die. That is according to my observation on some alt coins.

for me i dont think if bitcoin will come to his death, but any ways, true that this bitcoin is very expensive and giving hopes for the other altcoin because most of exchanges are for bitcoin, if bitcoin dies? i think altcoin will die too, because without the foundation (which is bitcoin) other coins will break down or fall into the floor. people are more rely in bitcoin and if anyone people not succeed in bitcoin and its die, theres no hope to them to invest again into altcoins because they had a experience in bitcoin before.

Yes agree, this is because bitcoin market share is the biggest so it affects the price of all altcoin, I'm sure if bitcoin die then altcoin price will drop because exchanger will not accept altcoin so altcoin die fast.

For me if bitcoin will die,all altcoin will die also because everything crypto currency will pass through in bitcoin,,bitcoin is the original currency before other alternating coins came out.in trading investment if you want to change to fiat money you must change altcoins to bitcoins.so if bitcoins will down also altcoins  will dump.

I only think of a limited scenarios in which Altcoins won't die along with Bitcoin and that is when all Bitcoin holders have migrated or shift into the next big cryptocurrency available, but that is of only Bitcoin failed by itself. But if the government have dofferent views otherwise then Bitcoin and other altcoins will die together because Bitcoin is the biggest cryptocurrency in terms of market share, and other are only trading altcoins to earn Bitcoin in the process.

This is true because if bitcoin falls, bitcoin users might jump on the next big altcoin there is. And also altcoins dont have the same developers so its really hard to see all of the altcoins dying and disappearing. A new altcoin will surely rise if bitcoin falls.

I can't imagine of happening like that. Because bitcoin is bind with altcoins and if it happens that bitcoin falls, automatically all crypto currencies will falls also. This kind of scenarios may happen if the community united and make this thing disappear, but as long as it have potentials probably it could impossible to happen.

Obviously, if bitcoin dies, then everybody will be afraid of it and everyone is going to dump their money because they wont be trusting bitcoins/cryptocurrencies anymore.. However, buy when there is blood in the streets. And there are some alts like Ethereum that had shown some teeth in regards of pushing the blockchain technology even further. If the page turns, things turning worse, I might just jump for ETH (besides some smaller additional projects) and sit out everything. Some constructs are piggybacking on the bitcoin blockchain. Counterparty to be named, mastercoin. Those do depend upon fresh blocks beeing mined.
But even if there would be absolutely no market value left there is still the probability that hobbyist continue to mine blocks by altruism. Hashrate dropping down to zero would open a long timespan for difficulty readjustments so yes, trouble. If the blockchain fails probably all blockchain based cryptos get damaged, even the POS based ones.
