It's only 1 finney, or 0.001 ETH.

Irrelevant ads on websites has always been an issue and so far adblock seems to be the most used remedy.
I would like to see Oyster Web Storage make a change in this.

Some concerns I have are as follows:
- There seems to be no reward for users who allow a portion of their GPU/CPU to be used? Why would a user remove their adblock and accept increase electricity usage? Is there something I overlooked?
- Basic Attention Token is similar in the incentive of ads workaround, as are many other projects, leading to competition
- The pirate bay is doing this by using CoinHive, except it is limited to CPU, and got lots of negative news

I also agree with Mystic90 that it would be nice to have a video about the DEVs.
This yields trust by potential investors which would benefit us all.

Best of luck, you got a supporter !

You might ask then why doesn't everyone use adblock?  Because some of us don't like the idea of sneakily bypassing a website owners advertisement setup to get an ad free experience as that is how they make money.  This offers an alternative.  I don't have to feel bad as I am opting to pay for my website visit in a less intrusive way (to me).

It's not even about feeling bad, the website will eventually either close down due to insolvency or setup a paywall. Now everyone is complaining about the paywalls at major news websites, this is their own doing because they've been cutting off the money supply with Adblock for so many years.

Well I feel bad because of the insolvency threat - but you make a going point about paywalls.  This is similar to a paywall but is a little more organic.  I don't want to pay a monthly subscription to use a site - that would ad up, especially with sites that charge 9 or 10 bucks.  This would be more like a pay to visit program but using extra computer resources than actual money.  The more I use a site the more these resources will be going towards it.  It would feel less intrusive overall.

in fact you don't have to use adblock itself, there are better choices that block selected scripts like uMatrix, ScriptSafe, Noscript

I found the Oyster project through a friend. I must confess that I was impressed by the quality of work done by its developers. From now on I will follow closely this ICO and I will certainly invest in it. You have my full support.

After reading through a bit more, this is a very interesting concept and is definitely a win-win for users and hosters. The wikipedia analogy made perfect sense and I can see alot of use cases for this technology. Ads are pretty annoying so I run adblock most of the time, but it would be cool to not have to use it. I do see lots of potential in this and I will be following you guys closely. I would just be careful of taking too much power from the users computers and that causing the website to lag or the whole experience to be slower. Wish you all the best of luck guys!

As I understand the CPU power required is very minimal, your computer wont start overheating like with some bitcoin miners that websites secretly script into the code

The airdrop initially brought me to this ICO. Since then I have been taking a closer look and following their Social media. Oyster truely looks like a great project and team. And looking forward
to see them develop over the next weeks/months.

Very interesting twist!  Came here to join the Airdrop at first but the more I learn about your project, the more tempted I am to invest!  It uses the ETH blockchain to store user data.  The smart contract, also launched on the ETH blockchain, uses Cpu AND Gpu both way simultaneously! That is only one of many innovations integrated in a very promising project!  Keep me posted Cheesy

I personally use adblocker myself to those annoying ads but disable it to good websites,
My question is how does it work? like mining using browser? Maybe it will slowdown our PC?
I think I've encountered similar project before.

Actually it uses IOTA to store user data.  Users provide computer resources to do proof of work operations and commit data to the tangle and ethereum is involved in pearl generation based on this resource usage to pay website owners.

Projects like BAT are trying to block adds creating a browser.

Oyster is creating something bigger. As i understand it will only use a small % of your CPU power so you wouldnt notice it. And ive read you get a message if you accept it or not (just like do you accept the cookies of this website yes or no)
