good morning,

you hear NOTHING official, that why lot of people think, that is a big shit SCAM!!! but ...we will see Cheesy

If you want to hear something official why don’t you checkout the Bitcoin gold website where they have a blog and regularly post updates, latest post was they were moving to testnet v2 and after testing latest updates mainnet will be launched, Honestly why don’t miners do there own research instead of calling scam when they are not contacted personally

Unfortunately I find slack no longer useful with all the fishing attempts from there,I suspect I’m not alone in deleting my slack account and use Discord now, would be cool if Bitcoin Gold had Discord channel since slack messages can be linked there too so users can keep up with slack directly from Discord through bot, thanks for update Luisjc69

My rig is ready and primed to start mining BTG. Gave it a quick test on the Testnet just to be sure everything was AOK. Hope the pools have everything ready to go too.

Will start Sunday or Monday! 7PM!

11/11/2017!!! Good date or?

Haven't seen that information before.  Where did you get it?

It seems that sewit2x has been called off for the time being.   Again, just a few people made this latest decision that affects millions of us.   We desperately need more decentralization.

I support core but would like some better way to be sure that they hear the voice of the bitcoin community

I think that bitcoin would be well served by merging with bitcoin gold (IF bitcoin gold works how it should do).

Can any one explain to me how such a 'merge' would play out?

It's not really possible to merge but core could in theory use the work done here to change to PoW although its really highly unlikely to happen

Im supporting this project though as it makes a good real world test of what a real life PoW change is like

I had some idea that they would merge the two chains in an emergency.   Thinking a bit deeper tells me that you would have a problem with the extra BTG coins.   Unfortunately - thinking about the logical conclusion of BTG - it also has served it's purpose  if the test net has been running well.   I don't see much value in the coin as a real life alternative to bitcoin.

Maybe they (like Segwit2x) should also just call off the fork Smiley

Maybe core should take their work and update the main chain.   If BTG works then this would surely be a great thing for bitcoin to do??  Might piss off some miners though!

On which exchanges will tokens be traded?

BTG is currently trading on bifinex, and okex. Other exchanges may support the trading but now they don't. Maybe they will list BTG when the wallet and blockchain is ready.

"Bitcoin gold is set to go live this weekend.
In a new blog post, the developers behind the fork of the bitcoin blockchain said that they would release a formal software client for download at 7:00 PM UTC on Nov. 12. Originally set for a public launch on Nov. 1, the project is backed by LightningASIC, a seller of mining hardware based in Hong Kong, as well as a community of relatively unknown developers."

So it looks nvidia gpus will be in favour again. Of course depending on profitability, but my guess is BTG will be hiting top1 list for some time....

I find both nvida and amd work well for equihash but Nvidia does have the efficiency edge on this one

Bitcoin Gold
Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again

DECENTRALIZATION

Bitcoin Gold implements a new PoW algorithm, Equihash, that makes mining decentralized again. Special computer hardware designed for BTC mining (ASICs) is obsolete for mining BTG, giving ordinary users a chance to mine with ubiquitous GPUs.

FAIR DISTRUBUTION

A hard fork of Bitcoin is the most fair and efficient method of creating and distributing a new digital asset. Coins that are created from a new genesis block always have ownership concentrated among a smaller group of people.

REPLAY PROTECTION

In order to ensure the safety of the Bitcoin ecosystem, Bitcoin Gold has implemented full replay protection, an essential feature that protects users coins from being spent accidentally.

TRANSPARENCY

Bitcoin Gold is a free open source software project that is built by volunteer developers and supported by a rapidly growing community of Bitcoin enthusiasts that stretches across the globe.

Comparison

Supply : 21 Million
PoW algorithm : Equihash
Mining Hardware : GPU
Block Interval : 10 Minutes
Block size (actual) : 1M (2-4M)
Difficulty adjustment : Every block
Segwit : Yes
Replay protection : Yes
Unique address format : Yes

FAQ

What is Bitcoin Gold?
Bitcoin Gold is a fork of the Bitcoin blockchain that will occur on October 25, 2017. At the predetermined block height, Bitcoin Gold miners will begin creating blocks with a new proof-of-work algorithm, and this will cause a bifurcation of the Bitcoin blockchain. The original Bitcoin blockchain will continue on unaltered, but a new branch of the blockchain will split off from the original chain. The new branch is a distinct blockchain with the same transaction history as Bitcoin up until the fork, but then diverges from it. As a result of this process, a new cryptocurrency will be born.

What is the purpose of Bitcoin Gold?
The purpose of Bitcoin Gold is to make Bitcoin mining decentralized again. Satoshi Nakamoto’s idealistic vision of “one CPU one vote” has been superseded by a reality where the manufacture and distribution of mining equipment has become dominated by a very small number of entities, some of which have engaged in abusive practices against individual miners and the Bitcoin network as a whole. By changing Bitcoin’s proof-of-work algorithm from SHA256 to Equihash, all of the specialized SHA256 mining equipment will be obsolete for mining the Bitcoin Gold blockchain. Thus, Bitcoin Gold will provide an opportunity for countless new people around the world to participate in the mining process with widely-available consumer hardware that is manufactured and distributed by reputable mainstream corporations. A more decentralized, democratic mining infrastructure is more resilient and more in line with Satoshi’s original vision.

How can I get Bitcoin Gold?
The Bitcoin Gold (BTG) initial coin distribution method is exactly the same as that used by Bitcoin Cash (BCH). All Bitcoin holders who possess BTC private keys on October 25 (block 491 407) will receive Bitcoin Gold on the rate of 1 BTC = 1 BTG (If you have 20 BTC you will receive 20 BTG). You need to control BTC private keys in order to make Bitcoin Gold transactions.

What wallet should I keep my BTC in to make sure I will receive BTG?
Any secure Bitcoin wallet that gives the user exclusive control of the cryptographic private keys is a suitable location to store your coins prior to the October 25 fork. Some wallets may offer you direct access to your BTG, while others may require you to take additional technical steps. Verified wallets that support BTC and BTG side-by-side will be listed on the Bitcoin Gold home page. We will publish guides for retrieving BTG from the most popular wallets, including Bitcoin Core, Electrum, Mycelium, hardware wallets, paper wallets, and more.
