Can we change the algo from firmware mods / updates? What about from X11 to another algo, is it possible somehow?

Here in the image is an FPGA model that if properly programmed can work in X11 Alogo.
So it is concluded that the cores,  pass the data between them on a parallel connection ...
With proper instructions, the calculation can be stopped by a certain algo / core, without making all the turn from all core.

Similarly, ASICs should also work ... with the difference that in this case we have a PIC in all 3 cards, that will give the commands, and get the results from ASIC Cores.
So someone should ask the BitMain for the data contained in the PIC, to be able to properly reprogram the PIC with the necessary instructions and then rewrite part of the firmware containing SO with -web management board- so in this mode we can choose between the desired algos.

I do not understand the reason why the so-called, dev or mod started with the last thing to do ... but for the first thing he did was to enter a fee ...
I think this "dev" is interested in its profits rather than the change of D3 ... for which more than that fee, for the first thing had to talk to Bitmain staff for some technical information, and have the PIC data. .. then experimenting that everything worked well and then introducing the fees on its firmware ...

The way to get compensation is not as short as the "dev" seems ...

If someone hurt fans ... they can put them in a garage or in a datacenter.
To gain something , now need to have free light, not reducing the miner's hash ...

It's as if had dimmed a lamp ... when it shuts off or low light does not consume either ...

Obviously if you reduce the frequency it reduces the power absorbed but also reduces the Hash ...
If you want to reduce the consumed current, unplug it ... do it yourself without paying taxes ...

if someone was interested, further down  is a table with the  algo X11, X13 ...

and from here you can download the source codes of the algorithms:

I have got a new non standard answer from Bitmain.

Quote
The Antminer D3 has been designed and tested to mine DASH only. It can be used to mine other X11 coins as well but we cannot guarantee the performance or efficiency of the D3 miner when used to mine other X11 coins than DASH.

Best regards,
Joy

They just not garantee the performace, so they work on it.

Thanks for the info. But I don't see from their answer that "they are working on it" ! They just say that you can use D3 to mine any X11 coin (which we already know!), but they don't guarantee the efficiency or performance as the D3 was designed to work only with DASH, but we know that it can work with any other X11 coin, like ONX, DPC, MUE etc.

It is mean, that I can not change the coin what I want mining? Could I mining ONX or other X11 coin if I want, or just Dash?

Of course you can change to another x11 coin! Just use the D3 on a pool that supports the x11 coin you want to mine, for example ONX on this pool: http://pool.onixcoin.com/

at least they are not  denying the possibility of usage of another algo
but also they dont promise anything
So all we need is , qualified developers who is capable of this work

Oh sorry, I totally misunderstood their reply. They are mentioning other coins , not algos . This was  really fucked up answer. They don't guarantee that D3 can  mine other x11 coins except dash. Shitty company ,shitty answer. Not suprised anymore .

All fans should work now actually, but they need to support PWM (4 pin wire) to adjust the fan speed

Thank you, blissz, for your efforts!

Actually I have not tried the modded firmware (need to get near the ASIC before).

Two small wishes:
1. Please make some king of "exteneded logging" for D3. The original kermel log window is poor.
2. Enable GUI access for {some} cgminer switches. Yes, this old story for #xnsub #skipcbcheck and compatibility with some pools - more possibilities for testing and turning...

Thank you in advance!
