Show me the part where say clearly that you must publish this code, when it is not finish or in development stage.
It's literally at the top off all the cgminer source code. /* * Copyright 2011-2017 Con Kolivas * Copyright 2011-2015 Andrew Smith * Copyright 2011-2012 Luke Dashjr * Copyright 2010 Jeff Garzik * * This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it * under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free * Software Foundation; either version 3 of the License, or (at your option) * any later version. See COPYING for more details. */ Here's a dumbed-down version on the GPL3 license: https://tldrlegal.com/license/gnu-general-public-license-v3-(gpl-3) I know the GNU v3 and it say that you must make it public, but it´s not saying that you must make it public in Beta stage or before it´s finish. Until now we are all beta tester. Think what will be happen when he publish a work in progress with an BIG error and someone know how to compile and make the Image and destroy his Miner. Don´t think everyone here in the Forum is to stupid to make a working Version of source. Or you only want to see the source, that you can see how he make all this things?

Can you make the check ability if the dev fee pools are dead, not to switch until the come back online?
I'm pretty sure this is by design otherwise you could just put reject outbound firewall rules on his dev pool ports on your home router...

Hi Blissz,
I am basically new to mining. I already have v1.12 in my D3. Yesterday I tried 2.06 but found the miner was rebooting in short intervals moreover, X appears on two of slot on different locations. Then i returned back to v 1.12 and now normal.

You're not alone having this issue in the latest beta. I will investigate this

Hi blissz,
Can we get some more details on how your dev fees work and how long they last etc...
apologies if you've been asked this before i'd just like a ruff idea.
Now it's 1 minute and 50 seconds each two hours mining on the devfee pools. It's actually switching between your pools / devfee pool. Have a look at the kernel logging after some hours and you can see in detail what happened

Blissz - You are breaking the law, cgminer is 'GNU General Public License' program. Turning it into one for your own profit and not pushing it back to ckolivas or opening it up on github is illegal under the copyright. I understand you worked hard on it and did a great job. I get that you want to be compensated and you can still have a dev fee for you pre-built binary but you CAN'T keep ignoring the licence by having the source code closed. You need to push your code back up or openly host it. You don't have to take your mining fee out and you don't have to provide building instructions but you need to honor the open source license or I'm going to do it for you. No one here is going to know how to cross compile it and then build it back into initramfs. They can barely setup there miners in the first place. Since you've always ignored me I'm going to make this super clear now. Do the right thing, push your code, or I will re-release all your Firmware, without the miner fee. IE. by injecting assembly branching operations into the compiled cgminer where the switch_pools functions execute we can skip any pool greater than 2. You have a week and them I'm going to post my Blissz modded version just like you did to Bitmain(at least there code is hosted though).... I really wish you could have just done the right thing to start with.
5 days - I sent you the de-compiled code with the patch so you know it works.

Hi All, I wasn't aware of the GPL license, so I did some investigation last days. After reading the GPL licenses I can conclude that stangerm2 is right. So that means I do have to provide the modified sources as most of the current modifications are now build on top of a linked module in cgminer. There are some consequences in releasing the source though: - As far as I know, Bitmain is free to use these improvements in their current and their new products they will sell. I do hope they compensate these free goodies with a multi algorithm D3 firmware one day - There will probably appear modified firmware binaries which can cause damaging your miners if the maker doesn't know what he's doing... - I had plans to buy a S9 as there are a lot of requests and make a modified S9 version, but I might consider not to jump on that boat for now. (let's first see what will happen with the D3) Legit alternatives instead of releasing the sourcecode- I stop this project and take the binaries offline. I don't like this option, as the whole idea is to help improve the situations for the D3 owners. - Temporary I take the binaries offline and I will write something from scratch / not linked to the sources of cgminer. This will take away the consequences, but a lot of time and effort (at least a month or two) will be put into something that will probably not lead to any improvements for you guys. My proposal- Although these consequences I will release source of a stable version (non BETA) that allow others to investigate the voltage / fan mods / fault check improvements I did. (devfee related code will be removed from the source). This allow others to look into the changes I did to make a binary for themselves without devfee. BETA functionality will be left out of the source right now since it's not yet stable and will create dangerous situations when used in a wrong way. I might have to restrict the use of a BETA versions to a closed group instead of providing a public link to the BETA versions. Happy mining Ciao Blissz

Thanks Blissz, I will hold off releasing the dev free version and let you figure out what you want to do. I want to state again for the record I 100% support you and your dev fee. I think your hard work and improvements are worth paying for, but for the progress of crypto letting others stand on your shoulders (clearly you are a giant ) is a must for our progress (from a code prospective). I wish you all the best. Sincerely

I'd also like to state, that I HATE Bitmain and I do not want to help them in anyway. Rather than close source things though I think it'd really be good to find a way to work together (keeping bitmain out of the loop is not possible as an individual but is as a community). I know I'm not the only person on here who knows how this stuff works. Maybe we could work together to fight some of these wrongs but we can't do that in a closed community and that my friend is why the GPL exist. Not just for cgminer but for Linux, for software. It's about pushing the world forward, even if we are just little ant's.

You know what, fuck it, Blissz do what you want man. I'm not going to bother you or mess with your project or your code. I just wanted to help you and contribute to the project but I re-read my posts and I've been a monster. I'm sorry for that. Do whatever you feel like. I'm not going to do anything.

I see things are kinda in flux here..just asking
if anyone has time to get me up to speed

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

ok..not an issue...my stuff is running fine and making little money anyway..thus if a flat fee may have got it for the tax write off in bulk this year ..what the heck as a month to month drip etc...and my miners running fine on bitmain firmware..no incentive..or I should say less incentive to experiment on the other hand with crypto tanking perhaps I don't need to worry about a 50% tax rate any more and deductions (40% fed and 10% state) ..... anyway, thanks for the info..was where I was coming from on the question ..sitting on the fence getting this firmware or not brad

blissz, I would recommend you release the source with your dev fee included but as an optional percentage. This would allow people with multiple miners to set a dev fee percentage on one miner to handle the dev fees for the other miners so they wouldn't need to switch pools. You may even find some people setting a percentage higher than 1.5%. Also, a flat fee for a "prebuilt" version would be nice, or maybe just donations and hope most people aren't over greedy. As a developer myself, I'm really interested to look through the changes you made. If you release the code to the wild I would most likely build a dev fee free version to use myself, but I would be happy to donate a one time fee for your help. Hopefully you will find that there are more people that appreciate your work and are willing to donate a one time or percentage fee than those that are just looking to leech off your work... I would like to see the code too but will still use the binary version from you. I just do not have time and proper knowledge how to build by myself. But i think you should supply version with 24 hours 15 minutes dev pool as i suggested before. Thanks for your efforts and i would be happy to see the code.

I think that once a day shift is far better than small jumps. let it be once say same time everyday for 15mint. then you keep mining or whenever the miner starts first mine for dev fee and use the same time everyday.
