Kimoto, thank you very much for the update!
I'm stocking up on my MEC!

I believe I saw ohiwastedmylif on cryptsy last night saying that MEC was dead and that he dumped all of his.
I'm guessing he's not still involved in MEC?

I hope you were able to talk him down from the ledge for his sake..  Selling at 6 weeks lows ahead of an update is not a good trade.

Long Live MEC! - Thank you Doctor  Grin

I'm still mining away with some loyal miners on gr33k.gotdns.org - though we have seen the network going up and down in power. I can't say that it does NOT concern me, but I'm still faithful in future updates bringing back more focus on MegaCoin.

I setup Sexcoin and Spots pools too now, but still banking on MEC Smiley

I wasn't logged in to my Cryptsy account at the time. I was at work just surfing Cryptsy anonymously, and I don't log in to my Cryptsy account since I work for the government and they log everything we do....like me writing this post. Hi whoever is watching me in Washington DC right now!  Grin

I wish he would have hung on longer and not given up on MEC, but whoever dumped 100k MEC to me lately, thank you!!!

I sure hope you're right! I bought some back when it was .00001 and then i bought some at the peak around .00012, and all the way down, so i'm definitely invested all over the price range.

Go MEC!!!!

MEC is a bargain right now. No doubt we will see renewed interest, and most likely a rally after the update. Let the good times roll!

I don't talk about it much here at work. Some coworkers know about it, but they don't care for it much. I do a lot of reading online, but I'm not comfortable logging into my Cryptsy account on a government computer and trading coins on work time. Just can't imagine it ending well.

I completely understand it isn't appropriate to do certain things at work. I just meant that when you tell someone about mining maybe 10% want to know how to get started, and the other 90% can't comprehend what you're talking about.

Lots of happy people and that's good. I'm not worried about the short term effect of the multipools, just worried about the long term. Eventually you'll need more then a handfull of loyal followers. You''ll need a crowd and you are not going to convince a crowd with long block finding times and slow transactions. Oh well, dunno. Just worried that the same kind of thing might happen that happened to the Craftcoin. That's being rescued by a handfull of followers, but it lost the crowd a while ago. Hate to see something like that happen.
I'm not to optimistic about the value either. It's a bargain now, and I think it will be a bargain for a while to come. Not saying that I don't benefit of the low pricing. Traded millions of Infinite coins for MΣC and practically doubled my amount of MΣC. Not anywhere near 100K but fine, I've got some.

I don't have a clue what to make of Kimoto's post, but I'll buckle up and see where the ride goes.

Also, not mining again for a few days, but I'll be back in the saddle early next week

I've tried -rescan several times.  The problem isn't that the transaction is in the blockchain but not in the wallet, it's the opposite of that.  The transaction is in the wallet but not in the blockchain.  Checkwallet and repairwallet do not appear to be valid commands.

$ megacoind --help|grep -i wallet
-walletnotify=<cmd>    Execute command when a wallet transaction changes (%s in cmd is replaced by TxID)
-upgradewallet         Upgrade wallet to latest format
-rescan                Rescan the block chain for missing wallet transactions
-salvagewallet         Attempt to recover private keys from a corrupt wallet.dat

$megacoind help|grep -i wallet
backupwallet <destination>
encryptwallet <passphrase>

Ehh... I sold my Infinite Coins and bought MΣC. Or is the Infinite Coin near a halving? Would it even matter for that coin?

I doubt the halving of MΣC would matter much. The previous halving also halved the price and it's still going down slowly. And updates are nice but only for those directly involved in mining, as they are most aware of the changes. I wonder if it will have any impact on the exchanges. The long term effect might be different, but that effect is slow and might also be halved because if the downwards spiral of the value.
What's really needed is a wider acceptance, by investors but also markets and services that accept MΣC

Yes I think IFC is near halving, but IFC is worthless (would be near 0 if it wasn't for that pump on cryptsy.
I think that the price didn't move because of the problems that it started encountering at that time. It's a rough time for MEC but hopefully we can get back on track soon.

I said this to the DigitalCoin guy but if you really want to give your coin a boost then set up a shopping cart interface specifically for your currency that people can easily use. I actually agree with the critics that so many of these coins are just clones or pump and dump schemes but if you want people to actually use your currency then you need to make it a lot easier to trade with, if it's coded reasonably well then even I wouldn't mind throwing it up on my website just to see what happens.

Too many developers are clearly just copy and pasting and don't really have any clue of how to get things moving or even how to edit the code properly.
