Added a blurb with the reference on how to solomine litecoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=83371.0You can take that information and apply it to solo mining bottlecaps if you like just change the name references in the thread. Your conf file might looks like this: rpcuser=USERNAME rpcpassword=x rpcallowip=192.168.*.* rpcport=8385 addnode=69.85.86.195 daemon=1 server=1 gen=0 and save it into C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\BottleCaps Restart wallet and mine to your ip and the port

Definitly should have been CAP instead. I'm trying so hard not to care, thats it's just a name, like stablecoin. But commmmeeee on, I go root through irradiated dumpters for caps not BOT

I think that's why they named them BOTs instead of CAPs. The currency (especially from the description on the website is obviously from Fallout) but they don't want to copy it so closely that Bethesda would have grounds to go after them, if it ever came to that. Also why they changed the logo to not quite look like it came from the game.

Eh, I see what you mean but it'd be hard to argue there'd be any legitimate infringement. Using the logo from a game is one thing that is clearly infringing on existing copyrighted work, specifically the art and designs within the game. However thanks to the links a few posts back about bottlecaps being used as currency in Cameroon and in a comic and elsewhere then it is clear that the idea of bottlecaps as a currency has been thought of before Bethesda. Even without that point it would still be very hard to successfully win an infringement suit as a plaintiff since its not using any actual content from the game or really even an idea (which is important with digital works). If John Eden created a videogame and used bottlecaps for an in-game currency then that would likely be infringement. However the mechanics and idea of the cryptocurrency are wholly unrelated to Fallout so the only relevant area is the name, which is not, and can not be, copyrighted since its a generic term. It wouldn't matter whether cryptsy listed it as BOT or CAP since they aren't directly created with the creation of the currency, they just trade it(I assume) But even then--- if the foundation used CAP as a short-name or referred to the coins as caps, that wouldn't be a problem since cap is a long existing word short for bottlecap. It'd be like Bethesda suing the Cameroonian brewers for the idea of attaching value to a bottlecap or suing someone who opens up a shop that specializes in buying/selling/trading collectable bottlecaps, it wouldn't work. However, thats not to say those within the Bottlecap Foundation are free to directly copy or imitate images and ideas within Fallout. If they opened a shop and offered to sell items called stim-pak or mentats or refrenced other things within the game that would be what could make things hairy.

Yeah cap would be much more awesome Also the logo could use a change like with some colorful cap with CAP written on it you mean like this : ha ha they are leaving it for me to do later - as its my idea - , and as you all know i don't give a fuck about any vague legal threat so - perhaps later i will release this - i'm thinking Vern had a problem with it - they wanted to straight copy my design but Vern has to look after his shit regarding Cryptsy - problem with being based in the USSA . Cryptocurrency will always tend towards the free market , and free markets always follow the path of less resistance and innovation , that's clearly the Russian Federation , people might say that sounds crazy now, but Russia does not have a stake in wanting to rule the world , its as simple as that , { but soon becomes much more complex}

I don't mind your design digital, but I would prefer it to just say CAP, or maybe Digital CAP. That 1¢ addition just makes it look cheap.

The launch and POS support is great. The name BOT is just unfortunate. My first thought was this being "botnet" related.
IMHO, CAP would have been way better.
Up to now, I have accumulated 462 BOT (sounds weird... does it?).
I will be mining for a couple more days to reach ~1000... but I won't bet much more on the name "BOT".

While Bot may make some people think Botnet. To me it sounds like a currency of the future. Maybe one day we will be purchasing our cleaning bot or sexbot, or Chauffeur bot with BOT coins

So when we created the coin we had two choices one being BOT the other being CAP. We chose BOT because we figured it would catch a traders eye. From the feed back we are getting all around it sounds like CAP is preferred. Does anyone prefer BOT? If this is a majority I will take it to the Bottlecap Foundation and put it to a vote. And if passed we will change the BOT to CAP if that is what the community wants.
