why it is still BOT? as CAP is the only name for post apocalyptic currency. Voting just proves it

Best start for currency I've ever seen here, but the current ticker name could ruin it

When ever you write that something has BOT support it just reminds me of trading Bots. The vots are in, are you planning to change it to CAP? In Fallout they call them Caps too.

Which sounds better. I have 10 Bots or 10 Caps.

The first one makes me thing you have 10 trading bots ready to go, the second makes me think you are getting ready for WW3 complete with nuclear bunker (Vault 6). Much cooler.

Have no fear we will be releasing the latest wallet update soon. The new wallet will have at a minimum the following improvements:
1. Checkpoints added
2. Change from BOT to CAP
3. And a new logo dependent on the outcome of a contest I am announcing now. I will pay 200 BOT /CAP bounty to the winner of a logo contest.

Currently Digital Industries logo is my first choice:

Add your design to this thread and we will do a poll to pick the winner.

We are still looking for someone interested in doing a take on the Gizmo casino with a caravan game if anyone wants to take up the challenge. If others are interested tell me so and Ill take up a bounty for it.

Ok, I have been solo mining now for over 15 hours but only have found 4 blocks. I did a quick check on a Litecoin calc and on average I should be getting one every 2 hours maybe 3 with bad luck. Is anything wrong or am I on an unlucky streak?

John you rock,  now you have a very viable post old world currency , .

I'm asking a fellow Cap prospector , to do a cap giveaway at digitalcurrencytalk.com soon , it will associated an advert on the front page , cyber is happy to give to caps.

We will make a 250x110 banner

Can I suggest you make an official topic at digitalcurrencytalk.com because if I make it I control it , I'd rather you do that as this is my gift.

But they will make the giveaway.  I expect a cap giveaway will attract a few users , as this forum expands .

Also I'd like to vote forvthat logo , and it will be great to open the CapBag.qt lol or  Rucksack.qt lol  and see that logo.

Have you got a couple of the big pools on failover? Might help getting info faster through longpoll or even better if they have stratum when a block is found.

The Git-Hub source code is updated with checkpoints. The QT changes should follow later this week. Thanks for mining bottlecaps!

warning on my Rucksack-qt.

is this related to the checkpoints you added ?

Yep the checkpoints have been added to the source but not worked into the qt yet it seems. That will fix the checkpoint warning. It shouldn't affect anything for now Smiley

CAP 100%...

"I'm gonna pop a BOT in your ass?"... is not as intimidating as, "I'm gonna to pop a CAP in your ass!"...
or
BOT-gun vs CAP-gun... Tongue (Though, BOT-guns sound cool!)
or
Its cool to have a CAP on your head... Its just odd to have a BOT on your head...
or
Twist off the CAP and chug one down... If you figure out how to twist off a BOT, I don't think he will like it much! He may chug you down!

Then it is settled... we will call them BOB!

Some exciting stuff coming for bottlecaps this week. We should have the new -QT to go with the already updated source code. The update should include:
- New Trade code of CAP
- The new logo
- The checkpoints update if you already haven't compiled the source

Additionally we should have an official website soon which should coincide with the new binaries. We are also showing on coinchoose now which has grabbed back some interest in the caps.

Why should you support bottlecaps? We made the coin with the intent to release a coin that had all the stats that should make a coin fair.

1. We did NOT premine any not a single block! In retrospect we are starting to see that not premining seems to have little affect on coins value trading and definitely affects how fast you can get folks on board to develop features etc. So if you hate premining support the coins that were released without one. Yeah I know we all like money but volunteer and support some of the coins that didn't take anything for themselves.

2. NO instamine we set the difficulty at a starting diff of 0.25 we tried for one but well it might never have been released as the genesis block took about 8 hours just at 0.25. If you watched the release less than a couple hundred coins were mined in the first couple hours.

3. Its a Proof of Stake coin meaning its less vulnerable to 51% attacks that plague the smaller altcoins oh and you get what could be called interest with proof of stake minting! Don't like bottlecaps thats ok support the other great PoS coins for the same reason.

4. A decent block size not to small not to big but 10 to keep it from getting over inflated. Did you know at this moment there are only 144000 caps in circulation?

5. Transaction times yeah were not the fastest but we took some of the good of litecoin and read the input of those that fear for DGC and WDC and said hey a tad longer is ok for the sake of security. It's still pretty fast.

6. The coin was a community effort of chatters on cryptsy.com and some other folks active here on the forums who all volunteer no one is paid to develop for the coin they do so to support the effort. We even took the communities advice and changed some things about it such as the upcoming trade code change and the new logo.

Bottom line bottlecaps is a solid coin errr cap that tries to take the good from many coins and put them in one. Hope you all enjoy the coming new features. Thanks for making it this far in my post.

Coming from a man of your stellar reputation we will take that as a compliment. We welcome criticism in fact we simply wish to encourage folks to support Proof of Stake coins, coins with no premine and fair releases with active developer support.
