Bitcoin or Altcoin

In my opinion people should diversify and some money should be "locked" in bitcoin, and then take some alts useful with their specialisation and dedicated team. Even tho it's still risky, but if you think about your steps and you are carefully picking your coin, you can minimise the probability of being "robbed". DYOR, trust and a bit of luck is required for your success sooner or later.

There is a huge difference between the outcomes generated by bitcoin and altcoins. Altcoins are toddlers of the crypto kingdom whereas bitcoin is the king and you should invest into them accordingly. I am pretty convinced by last few pumps in bitcoin value that it is the best option among all kind of investments for making large money. So do increase your investments here if you want bright future.

         You can still invest in bitcoin because it is not too late to invest in bitcoin at this moment. Bitcoin price are now going back slightly increasing. But no problem if you can invest to altcoin too and then hold it for long term for sure that you can gain more profit.

Seems to be no loss invest in bitcoin or altcoin. Both equally provide good benefits. However, we need to remember  cryptocurrency is led by bitcoin. So, bitcoin is our ultimate goal in investing. While altcoin we use to increase amount of investment.

The demand of ETH for GAS fuels the price to rise among the altcoins. I think you should increase your percentage of investment into bitcoin. Bitcoin is the most successful crypto currency and people are day by day getting rich with this coin. In my opinion, Bitcoin will continue to gain in importance in 2018 as well. However, if transaction times and fees are far inferior to other old coins, it will still be a kind of reserve currency. However, the market cap ratio will shift in favor of some interesting Altcoins.

Bitcoin still can go up in the future, but now people are considering in putting their money in alt, bitcoin high fees has drove a lot of users to used alt coin, for me bitcoin still a good coin to make profit, but alt is making more money for me, maybe you can split your investment and start to put some in alt coin

Yes, bitcoin is very expensive but very flexible.
However, bitcoins can be purchased at flexible prices, such as Satoshi or M Satoshi.

Yes, bitcoin is very expensive but very flexible.
However, bitcoins can be purchased at flexible prices, such as Satoshi or M Satoshi.

As bitcoin got more expensive of today's price updates, we will be able to grab more possibilities of holding bitcoin amounts, so it's better to sell your higher value alts to bitcoin exchange and store it in your wallet so you could sell in the future huge bitcoin price increase. For me it's good to hold both altcoin and bitcoin, but you should be more careful because altcoins is more volatile than bitcoin so have a close monitoring over it.

Better buy them both, make it 50/50 and then just hold on it for long term

I am not expert like you wish to know expert's opinion.
I will share my opinion on this. Etherium and litecoin not pump and dump coin. It can be low next but not badly. So keep holding those altcoin is not bad decision.

I am not expert like you wish to know expert's opinion.
I will share my opinion on this. Etherium and litecoin not pump and dump coin. It can be low next but not badly. So keep holding those altcoin is not bad decision.

ethereum and litecoin will increase soon and when bitcoin price is going down, this coin has the chance to back the increase. many people waiting for this coin increase back and I am sure that they still hold a large amount of this coin. but for now, I think these coin will stay like this and maybe in the next year, these coin will back increase.

I agree with some of the members mentioning that the market cap of bitcoin is already very huge. If you are looking for coins that can store value, bitcoin is a good choice I think, but if you are looking for coins that could bring you remarkable profit, I suggest you make your investment in some altcoins that are currently with low market cap and maximum supply. Even if their market cap only reaches 1/10 that of bitcoin in the future, you will earn a lot

Even though the bitcoin value is up, but who is saying to buy a whole full bitcoin. You can buy any portion of bitcoin according to your budget and in return can get more profits than in altcoins investment. Bitcoin value moves a lot faster than altcoins and you can easily convert your quick earned profitable  bitcoins into cash whenever you need money.

Investors betting on altcoins are not worried about the 15k price mark, they bet on percentages. BTC will rise 10~15% but many altcoins have risen much more than that.

Example:

in the last year BTC has risen to something like ~1400% of the price

But DMD has risen to something like ~8300% of the price!!

As a beginner it would be comfortable to focus in bitcoin alone since it is the most familiar and dominant among other types of cryptocurrency. If you gain much knowledge about bitcoin, then its the time to explore another type of altcoin to expand your curiosity and awareness of types of coins..
