I finally received the 2nd of what was going to be several more payments from stocks.exchange. I ended up having to delete data.mdb for a 3rd time and modify the batch file that calls the daemon to only use Speedie's priority nodes (I had simply added Speedie's nodes to the existing ones that CaptDero suggested we use a couple months ago).

I also stopped mining a few hours ago but even with all this going on there is still nearly 6MH/s of network hashrate, generating about ~21k DERO per day. Well, I guess that's one of the many uses of a premine, eh?

EDIT - well, this sucks... my 3rd withdrawal from shitty stocks.exchange failed and it appears I lost the DERO I was trying to send, too.

Update for the community: The team is closing in on the root cause of the issue and we will expediently update the community when we have more information. At this time it's looking like the pools are still forking. While this is not the news I would like to give everyone, it's an honest answer to what's happening. We do value every single person here and we would not want to be disingenuous.

I honestly don't think the team's got any wrong intensions. With all the work and support done so far it's just childish to think that. Plus you're always free to check that premine wallet, it's still untouched.
My guess is the forks probably happen when one miner (Nicehash maybe?) contributes more than half of the network hashrate. It sucks, but it does happen with new coins, specifically with great ones like Dero. Of course it's just a guess based on my previous cryptonight experiences so let's wait for the official statement and don't make any cancerous assumptions.

Seems that miner.rocks that supported the longer part of blockchain is shut down now.
So dero.live is the only left? It is the winner?
It will be very sad because my money is on the other side...

There are a few private and smaller pools that are still running. I will provide more information when I'm able to

I've added you to my list of people to contact directly when there is any news

Update 2: At this time we strongly encourage everyone to mine exclusively on the official pool (http://pool.dero.live/) . We completely support proper decentralization and when the forking issue is fixed we have all known pool operators added to our direct message list so that they may bring their respective pools online.

If you're a private pool operator and would like to be added to the direct message list, please private message me and you will be informed without delay when information becomes available. We do not require details regarding your pool or any identifying factors.

I will be updating all of our official channels of communication at the same time the messages go out.

Seems that miner.rocks that supported the longer part of blockchain is shut down now.
Daemon become unusable, 100% cpu usage with 90% iowait, full log of
Code:
2018-02-28 10:01:29.285	[P2P2]	INFO 	stacktrace	src/common/stack_trace.cpp:120	Exception: cryptonote::BLOCK_DNE
But after resync from 12h snapshot it worked ok and pool was back online in a few minutes.

https://miner.rocks pplns cryptonote pools with email alerts and workers stats

My failed withdrawal at stocks.exchange was magically fixed overnight with, as usual, nary a word in response to my support ticket.  Roll Eyes But hey, I'll take the problem getting solved over an email any day of the week.

So this morning I finally cleared out the rest of the DERO I bought yesterday and also resumed mining. My wallet daemon is staying synced but the alt_chain_info command shows there are still 6 alternate chains.

That's it for the news from my neck of the DERO woods.

Thank you from the Dero team for your reports and feedback. We have also noticed alt_chain_info is showing some alternate chains and the team is in the process of resolving that (it's the same basic issue).

On a personal note, I'm particularly happy to see that you got your Dero back!

No problem, and thanks as well to you for your efforts at keeping us up to date.

I have to admit I was more than a bit worried those 37 DERO had come from one of the forked chains so might have been invalidated, but everything seems to be fine now. Still, I feel like I've done enough tempting of luck this week and won't be doing any more buying/selling on S.E for awhile.

Hello shonegor84,

If you've been using the GUI wallet for a while your blockchain may be in need of a fresh resync due to a recent fork error. I'm going to add a link below this with some instructions that should help resolve the issue. However, if you need any assistance with the GUI wallet I will help you until we've sorted it out.

Serena, would it be possible to prepend [ANN] to the beginning of this thread to make it compliant with the standard of the announcements thread? Personally, I tend to mentally filter out threads here that do not have [ANN] as a prefix.

Yes that's no problem, and if we're not compliant with the standards in any other way we will certainly rectify that. Thank you for pointing this out, we genuinely respect and appreciate the soft touch.

I hope you're well today!

Yep there is a planned GUI wallet a little later in the roadmap. Right now the team is getting fairly close to releasing the beta version (currently pre-alpha) of derosuite for wide spread public testing so that's the main focus once the recent hiccup is fixed.

Adding the GUI wallet for the Dero team is comparatively easy when compared with the public derosuite progress made to date so you can expect a GUI wallet coded from the ground up when it's launched.
