Scam ICOs will fail in the next year, because they are being clamped down more than ever. There are so many scams now and only a few good ICOs.

I came across this article
https://www.financemagnates.com/thought-leadership/ico-will-fail-2018/

And wanted to know if you agree -- are these the reasons why ICOs will fail in 2018?
What type of PR strategies do you look for in an ICO? What types of things create the most buzz? What things are old news?

Thoughts?

I suppose a special law that will regulate the activity of these projects will appear. I am sure each ICO, before getting the right to start their sales or pre-sales should prove that their product will be really interesting to other people. I am not a specialist in this field, but something like this will be invented.

ICO will be popular only if the project is decent, skam will always, because everywhere there is fraud! And these people want easy money! There are also good projects! And they will!

Why would ICO fail is a project that will address basic society problem backed with competent team. Yes, most ICO will fail, if the purpose is to make money to the development team.

In my opinion one of the reason why ICO would collapse in 2018 is because there are already too many ICOs that launched and suddenly disappear or in other words it became a scam. One more reason is other countries or governments are trying to ban ICOs to protect their citizen to avoid scam ICO.

There was a startup boom a few years ago before ICOs became the new startup -- and there is STILL a huge demand for startups --

As Blockchain progresses and advances and new chains are created -- you don't think ICOs will be hot?

I personally think that this is just the beginning - that we have SOOOO much more opportunity and growth and ICOs to experience that will be better than what has already been released as people get more and more complex and address problems that blockchain have.

Too much ico were launched in 2017 so a fall is coming. I think in 2018 we will see less but more valuable ICOs.
All i know we will monitor and list the best of them on our ICO Listing website www.listico.io

ICOs will fail also because all the crazy grow for BTC. Who is going to place the money in ICO when bitcoin is growing 1k per day? Also Ethereum showed its limitations now with the kitties and other stuff which will come. The transactions are very expensive now and very slow. Very bad moment for ICOs

Maybe because every project wants to collect 200 million dollars on the presale, and when they do not get - it starts to postpone, extend and postpone ISO. But at all for 200 million is not enough ...

I'm expecting this, most of ICOs will fail in the future. But a serious team can always avoid fail reasons and turn it to good project.
Maybe it's harder now to find an idea for a good and unique project.

look at the classic start-up, there are successful projects but there are also failures. 100% you need to look carefully at an interesting project

ICOs may not fail, but the investors will probably become more demanding. Just a white paper won't be enough anymore. And it won't be just the investors, the regulators will also require ICOs to be compliant to the securities laws.

I'll take a contrarian view, I believe ICOs will be successful even better than 2017 and then we will peak out.

I'm not sure I understand why so many believe ICOs will be less popular in 2018. Yes, 2017 saw a lot of ICOs, but many have been successful and many have failed - that is the nature of start-ups (which is essentially what ICOs are). I think what people here are forgetting is that ICOs are still businesses - they have founders, employees, a product or service (either real or conceptual), income, expenses etc. The only difference between an ICO-funded start-up and a venture capital-backed startup is the source of the funding. There are blockchain-based startups that are not funded through ICOs but rather through angel investors and the sort.

The only way for ICOs to die - besides a regulatory crackdown - would be for investors to stop buying into them. And given the potential returns of investing in these ICOs, I think it is very unlikely all investors will cease participating.

I disagree, maybe later than 2018-2020. If a good project will show up with excellent road map and concept they can't stop it or lose the chance to participate. An investor itself know what is risky or not. ICO's will survive until crypto-currency will be more popular in the world.

Ahhh.. ok
