I will recommend you to divide your portfolio and invest in different coins instead of all in one coin because there is one very good saying that do not put all the eggs in the same basket it's better to divide the eggs in different baskets. Like this you will be more safe and more chances of profits because if you buy only one coin and if it does not go up for a long time you will earn nothing but say like you purchased 5 coins and out of them 3 coins goes up you will get good profit from those 3 and then you can invest that money also in those 2 coins which are still left so like this you will earn double profits.

I suggest buying 100 nexus coins just in case. It very promising coin, but without hype and announcing. But when they deliver, it will be easily 100$ coin. And they are going to deliver, 3d blockchain in space!

My advice is to pick 3 altcoin to invest half,
quarter just leave BTC
last quarter leave for day trade...
with day trade you can slowly make you BTC more....
ETC,ETH,LTC,DASH would be good to hold....

Waves / ETC / NEO for the long term investment. If you will choose one of them, go with ETC

Which is a safe coin to invest in the long term?
Bitcoin is the safest coin to invest in the long term as you wanted to.

How long should I hold it?
Probably 5-10 years if you can endure the temptation of selling during the upcoming trials and dips that is about to tackle it.

Is there a risk that I might lose it all?
In crypto, risks are necessary and we can't remove that. You will not lose it's quantity if you'll not sell them but the price/value will if demand gets lower.

I am a noob in cryptocurrencies. Help.  Huh
Only you can answer that.

I was thinking Litecoin, is it a good idea?
Another good choice, yes.

for people who's keeps mentioning BTC ETH LTC DASH NEO, if you are expecting to make a good profit from those,
you have to wait for a very long time, i call those coins "otherlife coins" which means it will take so long to rise that i would have been dead by that time.

If you want to invest long term. You should thoroughly understand Bitcoin or Altcoin, the study of the business behind the coin, investors who are investing in that coin will ensure that you invest in that coin is safe or not. If you decide on long-term investment then you should invest in Bitcoin and vice versa, just to make big profits in the shortest time, Altcoin and ICO are the right choices. As of now, I think you should know about the cryptocurrency knowledge before deciding whether to invest in Bitcoin or Altcoin.

Wow, that's a lot of money. I think Bitcoin's investment is pretty good. If I had that kind of money, I would have invested directly into Bitcoin with all that money. But if you only have hundreds of dollars, you should invest into Ethereum. That is my advice. But if you're in doubt, you can try investing in some cryptocurrencies at once. Suppose you invest into Bitcoin, then to Ethereum, and Litecoin. That way you have some source of income from investing. And if one of them has trouble, you will not hesitate and be afraid. Please choose your choice.

Of course Litecoin is not bad. But don’t you afraid to invest 12000USD in the thing that you don’t know in details? It is looking strange to me. And I think it would be better to find another place to hold this stack of money.

It seems that current crypto market increased a lot for short period of time. It seems not the best time to get into crypto by investing money into certain coins.
ICOs may be much more profitable.

I think you should invest all of it or halph of it in DeepOnion, It's already growing huge, and it's the next big crypto, totally anonymous, working with Tor browser and if you join the official deeponion forum you can get airdrops . Grin

You should go for safer version of investment. Don't put all of your money in one coin.
You should buy some Eth or Bitcoin to cover your eventual losses and rest of the money in altcoins that you think is best for you.
People are lucky these days because most of the investments will give you some kind of return, but avoid scams.

Currencies are not at all safe mode of investment. Digital currencies are more volatile than traditional currencies. Due to decentralised nature many cryptocurrencies are risk investments.  You $12000 invest may became $20000 or may became $1000. Before investing in any digital currency one must make a study. All altcoins are more or less simile to bitcoin. They work on the same platform. For long term investment Ethereum is second best option. It has shown considerable movement in last two years. Instead of investing in one coin you can divide your investment amount in different coins. That will divide your risk.

nocoin is 100% safe and risk free, any coin you invest in there will be at least 1% chance that you will lose almost all your money. It's very unlikely to lose all of your money if you take action in right time and cut your losses, but you don't want to cut losses but make profit right? Best I would suggest is to invest in any one of the popular coins, BTC ETH LTC etc, maybe split evenly in all three are put all money in one depends on you. As soon as the value increase significantly you sell enough coins to get back your initial investment of $12k, then whatever remains of your coins you can hold them for lifetime without worries, also dont forget to invest in third generation cryptos like ada(cardano) and iota(miota)
