I would split it this way!

50% Ethereum (ETH)
15% Litecoin (LTC)
10% NEM (XEM)
10% NEO (NEO)
10% Waves (WAVES)
05% Golem (GNT)

Compeltely agree, diversified and reliable portfolio

It depends on your appetite for risk same as any other types of investment.

The larger cap well established currencies can offer good growth between 30% and 150% some of the net tier altcoins can give you returns of 10 or even 25 times your stake. MIOTA, XRP and EOS are all good examples of this.

Try and do as much research as you can and not just take tips from traders boards and youtube

I would invest on the high reliable ones. BTC and ETH are the two most reliable coins out there. You could also mine coins for that such big amount.

If you have researched litecoin you can invest
but I think you can invest in some altcoins that have a future. such as eth, waves. or for the ico token that is being promoted. I think it requires knowledge and patience to make choices.

If I could have that $12,000 in my pocket, I will put 80% For long term BTC, ETH and LTC Smiley I will use the rest for scalping to earn more and once I hit my goal I will add more to my long term coins. I will continue the cycle once I feel that I am contented.

I will suggest spreading your investment in this coin/token, ETH = 30%, BTC = 30%, LTC = 20%, XEM = 10%, KMD = 5%, EOS = 5%

Ahhh.. ok

Which is a safe coin to invest in the long term?
How long should I hold it?

Is there a risk that I might lose it all?

I am a noob in cryptocurrencies. Help.  Huh

I was thinking Litecoin, is it a good idea?
I suggest that you for long-term investment, you should buy bitcoin and ethereum or waves those coins have great future.
You should better wait one more week. After one week there is the best opportunity to buying coins.

Sir as far as cyrpto's concern, I think no crypto is permanently safe they are all having risks. I strongly suggest that you read articles, research more, and seek for an advice coming from people who can we called as veterans on this industry. That question is actually ask every now and then. They keep on asking which coin is the safest to invest. You should also participate in trading industry in that case youll be able to gain more knowledge regarding to cryptos and sharpen the skills that you already have. Take time to read and research was the best trick for you. Good luck to your journey!

That is a huge money out there i suggest that you should diversify your money and invest it into different coins for them to rise differently because if you invested that in one coin and that coins falls all of your money will fall you should always have a back up plan. I suggestbthat you should invest it into three coins first is the ethereum which will have the highest part then litecoins which will have the second to the highest then ripple which will be on third because that three coins is i think that will pump in the next years.

The correct solution is to divide .50% to invest in BTC and the other 50% to invest in promising altcoins . And This will be the good solution

For me, I suggest you too invest Ethereum or Litecoin. Both of it has a great potential ahead. It was worth investing for Ethereum and Litecoin. Yes, Litecoin is also a great idea. I heard that Litecoin rapidly increase to 300 USD from 100 USD below.

I would rather ask "Which COINS?"
Never, but NEVER put your money in 1 single coin, it's too risky and you will feel you are missing out when the others go up and your coin doen't move a finger.
Investe in 10-20 coin, you will never know which one will be the next Bitcoin.

Since the market is on red at the moment, now is the good time to buy. If I were to have such funds, I'll diversify it to 40% BTC, 30 % ETH, 10% LTC, the remaining will be divided into NEO, IOTA, QTUM, XRP and any other altcoin that I think is good.

Two words: due diligence!
Dive into this crypto world, spend a week reading whitepapers, searching for opinions, looking at the trends during the past years... And choose several coins that seem the most reliable to you. Good luck!

I would suggest your $ 12000 to invest in DAT Coin (DATUM) or NXT, if you have plans for long-term investments. because both coins have a good chance for long-term investments.

Litecoin is good idea, agree with your post. Litecoin always has stable price and volume, even sometimes get negative impact from btc. If you want to know how long to hold it, just see the chart and use long time period to find buy and sell area ( daily - week - month ). You must understand investment not like trading, you will need extra time and patience to get profit. About risk, are you ready to loss or win?

Litecoin is great for long term investment, i also suggest investing in bitcoin or ethereum. You could split it into those 3 like 30% on litecoin / 30% on eth / 40% on bitcoin, whatever you think is a must, this has been my top 3 picks because for me this 3 is the best of all. The decision is still up to you, just a friendly suggestion.
