In my opinion the best coin there is to hold for long term would obviously be bitcoin, based on how far it had gone since 2009 until the present. Though it is constantly fluctuating, it finds its way to recover back most of the time. And always remember when you do trading, there is always a risk and you should be prepared to lose all those money you invested. But there are also altcoins that are good to invest if you want to diversify your money, there is Ethereum and NEO or even XEM which I am quite fascinated by this coin.

You gotta start somewhere. Many people have fiat ready to invest but don't know what to do. Information is all over the place and you really need the time to look and educate yourself. Some people don't have the time for that, they just want to invest ASAP. |

If you are looking to make so much from investing, then you should considering hodling for a long tern, giving whatever coin you choose to invest in time to grow. Litecoin is a pretty good option, but if you are looking for other coins to invest in, you might want to consider TRX and Monero. Besides, $12000 is quite a lot for me, and if I were to be in your shoes, I wouldn't invest it in a single coin.

The other is used to invest in staking action and ICO project, you can join the Eloncity project which will sell the ICO token soon. In the long run maybe but in short term the prices of top10 coins can't go more than x2. The cheaper alts can go up to x200 easily but that's a gamble. |

Bitcoin. I don't see any reason to put that much money into any other coin. Put the money into bitcoin, put it in a safe wallet and then hold for the long term. Make sure that you are holding till the next bull run, that is the only way you can be sure you will get getting a proper percentage of ROI. As a newbie though, you should not be putting that much money in for a start, it is too risky.

In one of my previous post here I have suggested to hold the platform (Ethereum, EOS, LISK), financial (Stellar, Ripple) and exchange coins (BNB, KCS, BIX). In addition to these coins I would also suggest to invest in security coins like Quanstamp and Tierion, since security has been one of the most important topic in blockchain and many companies invest in this topic.
