i'm making, outside of the running costs, free money for essentially putting a pc together and running software on it.. and, more free money with middlecoin.. just sitting on my lazy ass, tweaking some settings every now and again.. this cheese is easy.. really, f'n easy..

It may be for you, but that's not my experience.

I find it a lot of work keeping 4 rigs going and dealing with issues that keep coming up. I've spent countless hours on researching, building and optimizing my 'operation', I value that time a lot higher than the money I put into it.

And everytime I think "ok all is working well, back to life's other interests" sh*t just keeps coming up Smiley

So it doesn't feel lazy, not at all.

And believe you me, I do know what lazy feels like! Boy, do I know lazy!

This. ++

No doubt there are some smart people here, kind of surprising there aren't a few more pools like middlecoin but better?

Then again the financial incentive probably just isn't there to make such a thing. Cool

Way too much work. I want another mh I zip tie two more cards onto one of the racks.

Blah blah, include a quote from the guy writing code to mine with CPUs. Oops.

i didn't write code for cpu mining, but it does add 50KH/s.. it's temporary, just to get enough to cash-out from another pool..
kinda be nice to be able to centrally manage that rack, remotely, like an admin.. bamt may have it, but i'm windows..
i didn't build new rigs, i retrofitted what i already have..

I hope the query on the "suggestion" is not what's in place; it's terribly inefficient. For starters, "FROM shares,users" is doing a left join which takes exponentially more resources than the appropriate inner join.

Suggested in http://pastebin.com/TQ206qQj:
Code:
SELECT users.username,COUNT(shares.*) FROM shares,users WHERE time<=FROM_UNIXTIME(1389867642) AND our_result='Y' AND users.userid=shares.userid GROUP BY shares.userid;

Much more efficient query:
Code:
SELECT u.username, COUNT(s.id)
FROM shares s
INNER JOIN users u ON u.userid=s.userid
WHERE s.time<=FROM_UNIXTIME(1389867642) AND s.our_result='Y'
GROUP BY s.userid

Note that this assumes that the shares table has an "id" column referenced in the COUNT operator. Doing a COUNT(*) also burns up unnecessary resources; it should be COUNT({unique column})

You might want to pastebin this and tweet the link to him. Otherwise, he won't be seeing it among all the other craptalk that goes on in this thread (including mine at times). Might want to ask for an explain plan afterwards, I curious how it will turn up if he agrees to implement it.

I use cg remote. And you really need to run Linux with racks of headless miners. I can solve problems in seconds instead of having to deal with windows issues.

H20 SCAM ALERT!

People here to have to start realize they're wasting 15 GH/s hashpower every hour mining dust.

All I do is trying to make you understand that h20 is a scammer who is taking A HUGE part of your profits while he can't even maintenance the database. So now as a temporary solution he raised difficulty to 1024 instead of fixing SQL script. From my eyes it looks a like an amateur has coded it.

A 14-year old kid could do better.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also would like you to know I'm still taking invitation requests for my invite-only pool. Price is currently at 0.02 BTC to help make sure profits stays high.
We are always mining the most profitable coins, which is about 2-3x higher payouts than middlecoin.

Let me know if you're interested. You dont wanna miss this offer.

I now have the same for windows.. It takes seconds to manage.. No issues.. I'm not going to change my HTPC's over to Linux just to mine on a better OS and no longer have TV.. I use what I got.. The sw runs on linux, too.. I have 9u left in my rack to expand next month.. They will be Linux dedicated..

You're right about the count(*), but other than the queries are identical.

Every DB I've ever used will elide the cross join in the first query into an inner join, when an appropriate equality exists in the where clause.

What is desperately needed here is indexing. shares.time should have an index, to avoid a table scan.

3 to 10 odds that SimonG is a relatively new account created by Tealover to scam MORE people out of their money (and probably to blackmail, extort, and DOX people like he's been trying to do with H20). Can the mods ban his IP already?  This is getting monotonous...

If SimonG is not you... this is the smartest thing he's done so far in his minimal time on this forum.

Ok, I'll shift the odds to 2 to 10 odds that he's not you. Wink

DURING THE LAST MILITARY REGIME HERE IN NIGERIA, THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS SET UP MINING RIGS AND AWARDED THEMSELVES CONTRACTS WHICH WERE GROSSLY OVER-INVOICED IN VARIOUS MINISTRIES. THE PRESENT CIVILIAN GOVERNMENT SET UP A CONTRACT REVIEW PANEL AND WE HAVE IDENTIFIED A LOT OF INFLATED CONTRACT FUNDS WHICH ARE PRESENTLY FLOATING IN THE CENTRAL BITCOIN WALLET OF NIGERIA READY FOR PAYMENT.

HOWEVER, BY VIRTUE OF OUR POSITION AS CIVIL SERVANTS AND MEMBERS OF THIS PANEL, WE CANNOT ACQUIRE THIS MONEY IN OUR NAMES. I HAVE THEREFORE, BEEN DELEGATED AS A MATTER OF TRUST BY MY COLLEAGUES OF THE PANEL TO LOOK FOR AN OVERSEAS PARTNER INTO WHOSE WALLET WE WOULD TRANSFER THE SUM OF US 21,320,000.00 BTC (TWENTY ONE MILLION, THREE HUNDRED AND TWENTY THOUSAND BITCOIN). HENCE WE ARE WRITING YOU THIS POST. WE HAVE AGREED TO SHARE THE BITCOIN WITH EVERYONE ON THIS FORUM!

PLEASE,NOTE THAT THIS TRANSACTION IS 100% SAFE AND WE HOPE TO COMMENCE THE TRANSFER LATEST SEVEN (7) BANKING DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THE RECEIPT OF YOUR WALLET KEY.

YOURS FAITHFULLY,

With as much dough as H2o makes, he could easily hire a lawyer and sue teabag licker for this defamation.  At the very least it would be worth a $500 office meeting with a lawyer for H2o to seek legal advice and have a letter sent to teabag telling him to cease and desist all accusations lest legal action will be taking place.

That's what I would do anyway...
