What packages are needed for Linux Qt wallet (x64) in Ubuntu 12.04?
if you get errors because of missing files, do a

Code:
apt-get install libqt4-dev

It helped me.

I got infected with a trojan. From a miner I downloaded. I lost 224k QRK. HDD on my PC got wiped, my mail info were changed.
Wtf do I do now? Is there any way I can get my QRK back?
What was the name of this trojan? From which wallet?
It was a miner, sputnik or spotnik, something like that
Thanks for info. Last days are crazy about this hacking attacks. I was also robbed from some of my altcoins but in a different way:
here is my thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=349072.0

Like one user said, install for example antivirus like Avira, antimalware eg. Malwarebytes and also good option that I did would be anti-keylogger. Personally I use now Zemana Antikeylogger, even bought full version for better protection.

As I remember, there was one unofficial scam edition of quark which caused so. I made the same as you, but I had good luck and did not lose any QRKs.

Try to find infected wallet.dat, import it to the new official installation folder (in username/AppData/Roamming/quarkcoin). Command repairwallet from console might help, but I am not sure. Do backup while trying to repair something.
Can't do nothing. HDD got wiped. I had no other backup.

Dunno what to do. I have freaked up. Got 100 euro in my pocket till 17th of Dec. I found a guy to sell some BTC and I was so happy.
This shit ain't going anywhere

So let's see about some rules:
- never spend money on things you don't understand
- never spend money which you can't lose
- investments, where you can make a lot money, you can lose a lot money

It is good you only have 100 bucks for the next weeks, so I hope you will never forget this simple rulez.

So let's see, if you story is likely true:
- You said you lost 224 000 quarks
- the price was $0.20
- you paid with one 2 weeks paycheck

Therefore you make more than 1Mio. in one year. But you only got 100$ left?  Roll Eyes
Oh god. We have the new Sherlock Holmes here.

I lost them when the price was 20 cents. Didn't buy them per 20 cents.
I bought more than 120k QRKs when they had low price, like 0.5-1 cent.

Here are my 2 cents, Sherlock.

Hey, smexy. Don't waste your time. Time's precious.

Hello. Good to be on the forums. These are definitely some interesting times. A lot of money to be made, surely, but I am afraid, that the original idea of the cryptocoin is getting lost in the greed.

To me, Quark is really one of the most interesting new cryptocoins out there, but like many others, I am a bit confused and afraid about this "90% mined in 6 months" issue. Besides having one of the coolest names and best security features, it has the support of Bill Still and is soon picked up by China. If I my assumptions are correct, there really shouldn't be any concern about this "already mined" issue and Quark is really as distributed as advertised. Can someone pick my mind and give some feedback on my reasoning (I am trying to approach this issue from a different perspective).

Lets take Cryptsy example (http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/period-charts.php?period=ytd&resolution=day&pair=qrk-btc&market=cryptsy).

If you take Quark volume (the amount of shares that trade hands from sellers to buyers) on Cryptsy from the start of Quark release (from July), it will amount to roughly 708 378 573 (that is almost 3 times the entire number of mined Quarks (245 715 425)). I do realize, that large portion of this is back-and-forth between the same people, but still, it should be one of the few coins with this huge volume (in percentage) being traded day-to-day (note that the market volume does not change much in time). If you take into consideration, that Quark is also traded in other markets (mainly Bter and Coins-E) in big volumes, isn't it reasonable to assume that there are not that many "big-stack-bullies" with enormous Quark wallets around and the Quark itself is fairly well distributed between people who placed money in it and people who mined it? Another consideration is that to my knowledge, Quarks can only be bought with BTC. It would make much sense that when markets pick it up in any kind of QRK/Fiat configuration, volume will increase even more...

I also invested almost 2k USD in Quark (obv when it had last peak), but since I am very new to this, there are some general concerns about the Quark and market is quite unstable, most likely I will lose big portion of this in self-inflicted "panic sales" and doubt.

Also, is there a way to see list of biggest Quark wallets and how much they hold?

So... thoughts about the Quark volume? Does it say anything meaningful? Is it something that should alleviate some doubt of Quark being "scamcoin"?

P.S. Sorry if this topic is already covered in this thread.

You need your own blockexplorer that scans all available addresses in the blockchains, and spits out the amount of QRK in them.

This was done with Bitcoin, so it can be done with QRK.

Now that you talk about it, that would be something that interests me to, I might take a look at it. :-)

Quark is as much a scamcoin as the quark of startrek is a scammer.

Yes, he does use some shaddy practices, but he is not a real criminal. His imaginative ways of making business and love of gambling makes him a likable character, without being a sociopathic crook.... but hey it's a fine line.... lol

At second thought, it can be done at address-level, but not at wallet level.
No one knows what you have in your wallet, only you.

So a clever holder of big quark money, will distribute his millions over hundreds of addresses to disquise himself from the public eyes.

how someone can mine quark?

I am searching whole today, but could not find miner program for it.

where can i find quark miners ?

*

and the cpu standalone windows miner i found is flagged by Avira as bitcoingen virus (probably false positive but who know). Someone from quark should provide a safe link for beginners

virus total found this

https://www.virustotal.com/fr/file/745bba1e221367e53d305c3421a83c90c5bba968a973ca3336990f4f1ce2f5ac/analysis/

Compile from source like I did on my Linux box. No 'virus' found. I was running for process continuously for 3 months (on average 1 month uptime).
i have multiple errors that i can not fix when compiling on windows

so this one is not a secure miner?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260031.msg2948566#msg2948566

they come from neisklar, and in the OP he got his source code for his miner listed there, i assume this compiled executable is legit

Why don't you run it in VirtualBox?

runs slow

know what configuration i should use with vmware player?

also why has http://qrk.coinmine.pl/index.php changed to http://www.coinmine.pl/qrk/ ?

QRK desperately needs a decent website and forum. Seriously, freeforums.net? The alternative, a grey and ugly quarktalk? No, this can't work! If QRK wants to keep up with its claim of standing out as a true player in the crypto game, it needs to massively step up its presentation.

The call for a new logo is actually unnecessary, the logo is recognized and liked by many, but the rest, namely website and forum, is merely to be regarded as temporary at its best.

I'll start making a website for quark, I'm not a web designer, but I know how to put together a more professional looking site.

Of that there is no doubt, when max and bill are taking about it in the media, you only need a small proportion of people to come in and buy some. There are not billions of these coins to go around you know, even the coins with billions upon billions are sky rocketing in value. QRK was undervalued massively for months upon months howver this actually was good for the coin because everyone had a chance to get some and a few did. I hope it smacks back to about 8 cents for even wider distribution because it will be all the better for the coin, but long term it is head to new highs.

What you are seeing in all coins right now is some profit taking from early adopters, they cant believe they mined 20k worth of a coin in a few days or weeks, however once they have all dumped their load then it is only going up. Even now though with the dumping most coins are in the green every day, most days their value is increasing even with the dumping phase. When that is over that will be the end of cheap coins.

+1

I personally don't think we need a fork. Quark is designed in the way that most of coins are mined in a short period of time. In this way, the value of this coin is going to stabilize very soon. Also, the 0.5% inflation helps the circulation (instead of hoarding) of this coin. Quark might become the first mature cryptocoin on the market. These properties make Quark the No.1 choice for merchant use.

Bitcoin and other coins with a long mining span does not has this advantage. Obviously no one is willing to spend Bitcoin since it is expected that Bitcoin's price is going to rise. Everybody wants to hold. So Bitcoin itself is more like an asset rather than a currency.
If you are still confused about the "premine" question read my post here. http://qrk.li/hhdm7
