All this clamoring for IPO shares is starting to look like a bubble. Lets please not have our own version of Pets.com.
The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I would also like to reiterate that I am only helping out Labcoin in communicating with the forum and Burnside (btct.co) I personally have no special insight, decision making authority or other privileges over regular forum users. I am simply trying to stay as 'on top of' questions and comments as possible and making sure they get to the appropriate party and/or giving answers I am given myself.

No offense but this is bullshit. I was one of the 3 million bids at 0.001 before I had to move it up as that price wouldn't get filled. Then swede mentioned earlier that book would likely be wiped. Now, I wake up and he says the opposite and it's locked and I don't have any bids.

gee gee

Yes this moved far too quickly.  Originally it was suppose to start at 8 PM tonight, and even that was sooner than the 16-24 hour notice that Swede promised earlier in this thread.  No wonder there were problems.  Bidding should be opened back up for a while to give people an actual fair chance.

Hey, looks like the script is finished!   I've now got an order placed for about 42% of my original bid!

EDIT: It's not showing up on the 'orders' tab, but if you look at the order book, there are now exactly 7mil orders and the 'cancel' button has my share count on it.

Burnside, these coins not showing up was obviously not done on purpose right?

No, certainly not on purpose.  The deposit system usually takes a couple of deposits an hour, not hundreds.  Sad

We'll beef it up obviously for future use, but any time you come across a new mode of business like this you find new bottlenecks.

Extremely frustrating for sure, but 99% of the users are still way better off than they were 20 hours ago when we were looking at doing it auction style and frankly, even if you missed out you may end up paying less for the shares now than you would have had the auction style IPO run it's course the way things were getting bid up.  (hard to say for sure)

Props to LABCOIN on this one for opting to go this route.  They could have been greedy and stuck with the auction and made 2x the coins...

You've fucked up burnside - you could have saved some credibility.

guys, calm down. the LABCOIN hype started less than 24 hours ago. who could have known that there will be THAT much buying pressure?

That's exactly the point, Swede said that there would be 16-24 hours of notice in this thread of an exact time for the sale to begin.  He lied to us.

Its a little disconcerting to see how flippant burnside is about $2mil of investment....

The right thing to do would be to re-open bidding for 24 hours - we only lose a single day and EVERYONE gets an ACTUALLY fair opportunity to invest.

I don't remember the exact number I bid actually, it was slightly more then I'd first planned since I deposited enough coin to be able to bid over the price, back when people were saying the shares would just go to whoever bid the most.  Then I went back and reduced my bid to 0.001 with a slightly higher count.

The right thing to do would be to re-open bidding for 24 hours - we only lose a single day and EVERYONE gets an ACTUALLY fair opportunity to invest.

It won't be 'fair', it will just allow people with massive bitcoin hoards to place massive orders while everyone ends up with 10% of what they bid.

Stop being such a whiny baby.

AND despite the OBVIOUS BUG they carried on with it

That's the part that is the most upsetting, not the bug itself.

Not to mention the wrong time announcement etc.

Anyway, those who got them, enjoy your cheap shares.
But be consistent and don't be surprised that others are totally disgusted tonight.

I'll just smoke some weed to calm down, I think. Yay.

He could have fixed things however, but he chose to let it go.  He even admitted he screwed up but just didn't care.  Lost a lot of respect for him.
