Sup, So PhoenixMiner ver's 5.6-5.8 are driving me crazy.. (Just about to test 5.9beta)

MY QESTION IS: Which is the best drivers to use for each of the Phoenix Miner Releases in order from Ver 5.5 onwards please..?

- A Follow up question would be, What is the best most reliable version of drivers to use on the 5.9beta release? Will I be safe with Adrenalin 21.10.2 OR should I go back to Adrenalin 20.8.1 ??

RIG SPECS

CPU:         i7-7700K
RAM:         8GB
MOBO:      ASUS B250 Mining Expert - Loaded Bios Optimised Defaults. Pcie link > Gen 1, etc..
PSU:         x2 EVGA 1600w T2 Platinum/Titanium (I forget)
RAISERS:  I just replaced All my GPU Raisers to the newer 009s Plus BLACK EDITION
OS:           Win10 x64 Pro [Clean format]
GPUs        RX580 8GB: x2 RX580 8GB Nitro+ (Hynix), x6 Nitro SE RX580 8GB (Samsung), x1 Power Devil RX580 8GB (Micron), x1 Asus ROG RX580 8GB (Hynix)

**Current** Drivers: Adrenalin 19.8.2 Beta

Tweeks: Applied Win10Tweeks.bat and done all the usual tweaks (Win update OFF etc..)

Set: Windows ENV_MEM Initial 60000mb > 88000mb

I am trying to pin down why my rig RXRig (x10 RX580's) keeps throwing errors and/or having the following issues:

I have managed to have a run of about 6hrs then another run for like 12hrs But crashing/BSOD not able to auto_restart miner from shell:startup > miner_start.bat

** Timeout Detection Recovery atikmpag.sys / atikmdag.sys VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE - TDS_BSOD errors.?

I had noticed a big jump in Temps, causing -tstop or -ttli to kick in.. Usually, my cards idle around hi 50's - to low - 60C deg C. (-tt 60)
** Higher than normal stale shares.
** -clKernel 1
** I use -altinit and -mi 12

** The issues began on v5.8c

I have two separate config's called from 2 different batch scripts depending on time of year/temperature outside

1) Standard config -mt 0
2) Winter (RXBoost config) config -mt 0 -vmr 25 -strap 1 -vmdag 1

All cards are now on -cclock 1150/850mv-900mv  -mclock-2100-2150:900-925mv
I have down clocked my cards and undervolted

I was initially was running a stable -mclock 2170 on gpu's Samsung/Hynix/Micron cards (Mixed) ALL Were stable @ -mclock 2170 between 875-925mv voltages, with a range of -cclocks 1150,1170,1240,1150... etc... STABLE upto version PhoenixMiner v5.8

Now I have formatted my Rig to clean slate. I am running through all the various things I can think of to figure out why my rig keeps crashing.
Current testing on PNX Miner v5.6d - > 5.7 with Adrenalin 19.8.2 Beta drivers..

If still no luck I will bump up to last stable set of drivers 20.8.1 and repeat the testing steps. But as it stands. v5.8 really threw a wrench in the rig and cannot get it to run stable now at all..
Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Cheers Maj

From what I know from modding and overclocking Polaris and I did that a lot lot, 2150mhz is the limit of stable memory frequency and even tho only on good sample cards. Most will start to artifact at 2100 so pushing 2170 and getting stable with it was pretty sure a gamble.
I'm pretty sure samsung memory have zero effect on hashrates above 2000mhz. I still own one and there is no difference in performance from 2000 to 2150. I know hynix does well but didn't had many microns to make sure the mclock sweetspot.
-vmr increases memory refresh and will make the card run hotter, limiting temps to 60 will probably make cards throttle so try 65.

The new beta version is ready. It is mostly a bugfix release, the more significant upgrades are coming next month. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.9b from here:

To check the integrity of the downloaded file, please use the following hashes (you need the last file PhoenixMiner_NVRTC_Windows.zip only if you want to mine BCI with Nvdia cards under Windows):
Code:

The new features in this release are:

  • Show the GPU vendor name in the list of GPUs to make it easier to identify the GPUs
  • Added support for the latest AMD Linux drivers 21.40.1. There are some bugs in these drivers, particularly the clocks and voltages can't be set properly with older cards (RX4x0/RX5x0/Vega/RadeonVII)
  • Validated support for the latest AMD Windows drivers up to 21.11.2
  • Fixed issues with AMD RX6700XT cards with the latest AMD and Linux drivers
  • Fixed issues with AMD Vega and Radeon VII cards on latest Windows and Linux drivers
  • Fixed crash with very old Nvidia drivers (3xx.x)
  • Other fixes and small improvements

The updated list of known issues (driver incompatibilities, etc.) and workarounds:

  • AMD Linux driver 21.40.1 has a bug preventing proper setting of clocks and voltages on older cards (RX4x0/RX5x0/Vega/RadeonVII). Given that these drivers are also usually slower than the older drivers for these cards, we recommend using Linux drivers 20.30 for anything older than RX6000 series.
  • If you are using Linux drivers 21.40.1 with Radeon VII cards, you need to add the option -fpwm 1 in order to have proper fan control.
  • AMD Linux drivers 21.40.1 has finally removed the requirement of PCIe atomics but there are problems when you try to mix Polaris (RX4x0/5x0) cards and Vega or newer cards on the same rig.
  • Some Nvidia cards will report a lot of stale shares under Windows 11. Using the same driver version under Windows 10 resolves the issue.

For more robust integrity check, you can use our GPG public key, which was verifyed with ETH transaction from our main devfee account as explained here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2647654.msg56755869#msg56755869. Here are the signatures for the files in this release:

Superb RX6700 XT now running with optimised kernels under ubuntu with 21.30 thanks. Will play with 21.40.1 driver later looking to get multi gpus running under ubuntu 20.04 LTS with latest drivers that would be most welcome.

Hope you updating the first page also with the new download links , as i watching and fighting the Fake Github links now nearly a year !
I also report them on Github when its possible , it looks like a never ending story but i dont give up on that .
Fingers crossed that not anymore Users fall into the trap of the Fake Links that are mostly posted from Hacked Accounts.

Today seems quiet normally when i pop in there is a fake post and when it gets taken down another replaces it promptly but not today. :-)

[moderator's note: consecutive posts merged]

I really wish all you guys would STOP putting and recopying the links to PhoenixMiner versions and updates. It looks to similar to the malware versions that other post out here. Stop It Please.
If you want tell tell someone where it is just point them to the 1st page of this forum. There are multiple posts that duplicate the links and someone is going to download the wrong one. There is
no need to keep reposting the links.

is there a way to add phoenix miner back to nicehash, even manually? i want to keep using the nicehash UI, dont want to manually mine with phoenix, i want to still be able to algo hop

I get what you mean.  Using it within NH also allows you to get to see info on a unified phone app that would otherwise not be easy to do with manually mining from the command line.

I basically just replace the contents of the PhoenixMiner binary folder in NiceHash (within the User folder in Windows) with all the contents of the newest PhoenixMiner release.  I don't rename or overwrite the older PhoenixMiner folder, but just change ALL the contents within it

i used Adrenalin 20.8.1 and all ok

I see that you use -mt 0, which if I understand correctly is for the original bios, not for preflash ones. These are my settings with fashionable bios and driver 21.3.1
-acm -amd -vmr 75 -gt 67,34,34,34,34,64 -mi 13 -eres 0 -clKernel 2 -gpus 1,2,4,5,6,7 -stales 0 -mclock 2250,2070,2085,2095,2070,2250 -cclock 1250 -cvddc 900 -mvddc 900

I can't modify the overclock settings of my RX 6600 with PhoenixMiner 5.9b in windows.

Using AMD driver 21.11.2.

It's my oc settings:

-fanmin 50 -fanmax 50 -mclock 945 -cvddc 735 -mvddc 1150 -cclock 900 -amd

But nothing changed. (except Core clock)

What should I do?   Huh

System:

Windows 10 20H2
B85 / G1840 / 4G RAM
MSI MECH RX 6600 x 8  (Every card can work)
AMD driver 21.11.2
Run in admin privilege

Thanks.

Be extremely careful and immediately delete anything that is not yet published by the Phoenixminer team itself. So far we are up only to 5.8c and in their official website which you can find in the first page of this thread 5.9b is not yet released.Probably you have got some malware and you need to delete it right away.

If you made a typo and mean 5.7b you should upgrade to latest version 5.8c and use MSI Afterburner to change memory clock, core clock and fan speed, these are all needed to be modified in order to get the max from your card.Still if you have a 5.9b definitely is malware and you need to delete it right away.

Official link for the official miner is here

Be extremely careful and immediately delete anything that is not yet published by the Phoenixminer team itself. So far we are up only to 5.8c and in their official website which you can find in the first page of this thread 5.9b is not yet released.Probably you have got some malware and you need to delete it right away.

If you made a typo and mean 5.7b you should upgrade to latest version 5.8c and use MSI Afterburner to change memory clock, core clock and fan speed, these are all needed to be modified in order to get the max from your card.Still if you have a 5.9b definitely is malware and you need to delete it right away.

Official link for the official miner is here

https://phoenixminer.info/downloads/

5.9b has been released as Beta which you can download from https://phoenixminer.info/downloads/beta/.
I am using 5.8c with following command line settings for 6600 and it works well. I am using AMD 21.10.2

-fanmin 15 -cvddc 900 -cclock 1100 -mclock 1900

I think you need to use double frenquency for mclock in WIndows.

Update.. I discovered I had a burned out pin on one of my Sata>6-pin > raiser connector.
It was intermittent in the fact that it was still powering the raiser/card. gpu2 -- gpu2 was the one always giving me shit and craping out.. Now I know why..
(Lesson learned using shady SATA to 6-pin raiser connectors, Only using the one connection which I will now be switching out..! )
Hopefully this is the source of ALL the instability.. )

@dazmann, Thanks for pointers.. Ive been running this rig since 2017. But since re-format/clean wipe Its getting to grips with how it once was, if you catch my meaning..
Ill slowly tinker away get it humming right again..

@thienduc2, Yeah cheers for that mate.. That's what I just worked up to now after multiple DDU clean uninstallers AMD Clean etc..
-> Adrenalin v20.8.1 <- This used to be what I was running before

@defoto -- Frickin Legend.. Grin
I mean Like Yeah I had my rigs rocking But lately since I switched it up All ive been hitting is BSOD TDR Errors..
TYVM for the pointers..

I see that you use -mt 0, which if I understand correctly is for the original bios, not for preflash ones.

I'll be sure to double check/test -mt <n>

FYI: I modded all my BIOS'es I need to recheck them all again.. Re-flash maybe.. Also look into maybe applying amdtweek settings (its a job Ive been putting off, FWIK: it kind of injects dynamically the -vmr timings plus a whole host of other tweaks you can apply if one were so inclined. Phoenix already does great job as is... )

These are my settings with fashionable bios and driver 21.3.1
Code:
-acm -amd -vmr 75 -gt 67,34,34,34,34,64 -mi 13 -eres 0 -clKernel 2 -gpus 1,2,4,5,6,7 -stales 0 -mclock 2250,2070,2085,2095,2070,2250 -cclock 1250 -cvddc 900 -mvddc 900
This is the type of Intel I require.. Black ops shit right here.. Sorted ..  Cheers my dude..

@Swogerino Yep, sound advise.. unless in the OP or up on Official site stay well away from any links posted in here.
BUT if you dig a little deeper under ./beta/Phoenixminerv5.9... Beta folder -> https://phoenixminer.info/downloads/beta/ Wink

Did anyone have the idea when using PolarisBiosEditor in the bios to reduce the maximum and target temperature of the video card, because I did? In this way I avoid dealing with incorrectly working AMD drivers and temperature settings. My experience is related to RX580 8 GB. I have set a target temperature between 62-62 degrees on the cards and thus keep the fans at lower speeds.

I can't modify the overclock settings of my RX 6600 with PhoenixMiner 5.9b in windows.

Using AMD driver 21.11.2.

It's my oc settings:

-fanmin 50 -fanmax 50 -mclock 945 -cvddc 735 -mvddc 1150 -cclock 900 -amd

But nothing changed. (except Core clock)

What should I do?   Huh

System:

Windows 10 20H2
B85 / G1840 / 4G RAM
MSI MECH RX 6600 x 8  (Every card can work)
AMD driver 21.11.2
Run in admin privilege

Thanks.

As ironmanred said, for the memory clocks, you need to set them near the maximum for Windows. For example -mclock 1800 up to 1900.
Also, I think -fanmin 50 -fanmax 50 won't work as expected, because you need to set the maximum speed higher than the minimum. If you want to set the fans at a fixed speed of 50% is better to use -tt -50.

Added support for the latest AMD Windows drivers (21.10.2, 21.10.1, 21.9.2, and 21.9.1). Note that any AMD cards older than Polaris (RX470/480/570/580/590) won't work with the latest AMD drivers.
Too bad I have 580s, then I will not update the miner. As long as I have version 5.5 working

A rushing mistake from my side and I humbly apologize for it.Unfortunately no LHR unlock as of yet but they say big changes are coming next month so we can expect a good release of the 5.10 or 6.1 version whichever that will be.

My problem https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2647654.msg58250807#msg58250807 is solved. PM 5.9b works good. -clkernel 1, slightly higher and more stable hashrate.
Thank you, PhoenixMiner!

Hello PhoenixMiner developers! I would like to offer you an idea for an additional option "GPU tuning parameter". For maximum efficiency kH / J. Think about this trick. I noticed many times during auto-tuning -gt parameter it is 0.1-0.15 MH / s less and consumes 10 watts less. Maybe worth a try?

Hello,

What can be the cause that PhoenixMiner can't see more than 9 GPU in my RIG ?
TeamRed see all the 12 GPU on the same RIG.  Huh
Windows 10, 12*RX460.
In Windows Device manager I can see all the 12 GPU s also.

The release candidate 5.9c is ready for download. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.9c from here:

PhoenixMiner_5.9c_Windows.zip
PhoenixMiner_5.9c_Linux.tar.gz

To check the integrity of the downloaded file, please use the following hashes (you need the last file PhoenixMiner_NVRTC_Windows.zip only if you want to mine BCI with Nvdia cards under Windows):

The new features in this release (since 5.9b) are:

  • Validated support for the latest AMD Windows drivers 21.11.3
  • Fixed some pool connection issues

The changes of the previous beta (5.9b) since the last version (5.8c) are:

Hello, anyone knows how can I change my devfee pool in phoenixminer? it automatically chooses an SSL port with a 5555 port number which my internet cannot connect to! (I don't know why)in that case, phoenixminer changes the pool to a none SSL port after a minute but it causes me a lot of stale shares. I always have this issue ,is there any way to define a devfee address for the miner?
